  1. I sit corrected, thoughtthey all kicked off at 15:00. Anybody know if Holder is bothering his arse to turn up tomorrow or is he away Zloty grabbing. ( I know the website says he SUPPOSED to be riding).
  2. Earlier it was the final match of the season, with a larger crowd expected in Newcastle to celebrate promotion. (I believe medical cover was one of the factors). Also it is an earlier kick-off tomorrow than it was then.
  3. Only the upstairs bar. down stairs bar still open. don't panic cap'n mannering.
  4. Sheffield away is next Thursday 17 August.
  5. They won't other than a NL guest. There is no agreement between the polish federation and the BSPA. Especially since the Newcastle and Scunthorpe fixtures were in the diary before he agreed the deal with Torun and are not re-arranged fixtures (to the best of my knowledge).
  6. To be fair, there is, or was, an agreement with Swedish and Danish leagues that 1st fixture in the diary takes priority. If a rider signs for a club mid season then his original booked dates come before any meetings for a new club. If a rearranged fixture takes place then that takes 2nd place to any fixture he's already committed too. Things between Poland and UK would be a lot more amicable if Poland signed up too this, but they steadfastly refuse to do so. Personally, I'd like nothing better than the UK, Danish, and Swedish federations joining together and telling riders "If you want to ride in Poland, go ahead, but you won't get a contract here". And see what happens. How many I wonder would give up on their other leagues to purely ride in Poland. Would they make it pay? possibly. But Poland uses a squad system, and one or two bad meetings and you are out, so won't be riding anywhere.
  7. I doubt it. He also missed a potentially bigger pay night on the Saturday at Leicester. He could have easily ridden at Leicester and then pulled out of the fours on sunday morning claiming he had aggravated one (or more) of his injuries the previous evening if he wasn't as badly injured.
  8. It depends on the country whether you need a visa or not, and the conditions you need to fulfil to qualify. UK is actually one of the most restrictive with regards to qualification criteria. I seem to remember a few years ago an aussie, can't for the life of me remember who, visa expired mid season and didn't qualify for a new one so he went and raced on he continent and gave UK a miss that season.
  9. I can. If I'd signed a contract to do a job for an employer over several months then told him "Sorry, but next week I'm working for somebody else as he's giving me more money" I'm bloody sure I'll be out on my arse double quick. People say the "fours" doesn't have to be your top 4. True. BUT you have to declare your team by a certain date, and Peterborough did that with Holder in the squad. If they had declared their squad without him in it then that wouldn't be a problem, but to withdraw him for a "non injury" reason is not on. He was already being used for promotional purposes, etc. to attract fans to the meeting, Personally I'd like to see him given a 28 day ban, with Peterborough only being allowed a NL guest to cover. For every occasion during the ban if he rides for another foreign team on the same day as Peterborough have a fixture I'd extend it by a further 28 days. It's hardly an effective ban if he's still earning money by riding abroad on the same day he should be sitting on his backside contemplating his decision.
  10. Typo. "facility" Sorry. Noticed it straight away but internet dropped out when i tried to change it. changed now.
  11. It depends. If peterborough sack him or the BSPA give him a ban then yes Peterborough will get a facility. If he chooses to ride in Poland instead of, for example, newcastle on a sunday then it's a NL guest only. We'll find out on the 13 August.
  12. There was a facebook post a while back which, if I remember rightly, said that he was advised not to ride as any knock to his head could potentially have serious consequences. Otherwise he seemed to be recovering ok. Apologies if I've got that wrong.
  13. If you are wondering why the transfer deadline was brought forward just look at what Wolves and Poole did last year when the deadline was just before the play-offs started. And Yes I believe it was a promoters decision made at the annual conference
  14. It happened to a lesser extent last season with Sheffield in the play-offs last season. They turned up in the play-off v Newcastle with three guest track experts in the side.
  15. Unfortunately a transfer deadline is a transfer deadline. You aren't the first and you won't be the last. Newcastle got away with it last season by the skin of their teeth when Lewis Rose got injured about 4 hours before the transfer deadline. they managed to agree a deal with Ashley Morris and redeclare before midnight on the night of Lewis' injury. If they hadn't it would have been R/R until the end of the season. Trouble is there are, on occasions, too many sick-notes for dubious injuries, And i am NOT saying this is the case in this instance.
  16. I'd be very much surprised if that was the 1st communication. I would suggest it's fault on both sides. Offered dated not being acceptable for whatever reason. And redcar not saying "we can come on x, y ,z. When do you want us".
  17. Well the Redcar fan I spoke to said he'd asked George English if there was any news on dates v Redcar and he'd said he was awaiting a reply to an e-mail sent over a week ago offering 3 dates !
  18. Newcastle have offered Redcar numerous dates and they haven't bothered to reply. (This from a Redcar fan).
  19. It's on the Belle Vue v Poole thread that Elliott has a new baby sister tonight. Congratulations Steve and Annabelle if true.
  20. No real hurry for the cup matches. The Peterborough v Scunthorpe QF 2nd leg (who the winner of our QF meets in the semi) isn't scheduled to take place until 22 September.
  21. Totally agree. There weren't many complaints when the team was announced. Danny's unfortunate injury came at the wrong time for us. He wa on a 2.00 greensheet but was actually averaging nearer 4.00. People seem to think it's easy to swop a regular 7.00 point rider for a 7.00 point rider who's going to average 9.00. Averages don't tell lies. It was said, for example, we should have made changes and signed Aarnio on 5.28. Well his average has dropped to about 4.8. so it is never that easy. Yes teams do drop under performing sportsmen usually replaced by others in the SQUAD. Berwick have under achieved this season and made SIX changes (not all enforced) and they are still getting tonked home and away. Nobody, other than the promotion, knows what, if any, attempts have been made to strengthen the side this season. It's easy to say we should sign Joe Bloggs or whoever, but if Joe Bloggs won't come or wants megabucks which would bankrupt the club then it's better to take the pain this season and STILL have a club to support NEXT year. Not everybody has the financial clout of Glasgow's backers.
  22. Errr heat 2 Wood, Heat 4 Wood, heat 8 heat 10, Heat 11. = 5. Not 9. if you're including ding dong battle with kurtz and Worrall. There wasn't any passing, Nor was there when Bjerre.chased Worrall.
  23. I would think an October date is a dead cert. You've got the fours next weekend and the individual in September. And a lot of the weekend tracks are struggling for dates anyway.
