Berwick ‘buy a brick’ Bandits 2025
gmarsbar2 replied to emilali's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Why does he even qualify as a 2 pointer? He's Australian -
That will be why Leicester sacked their manager when they weren't in a relegation place. No because the fans didn't like the style of play under Cooper compared to Maresca. Similarly West Ham got rid of Moyes and now fans are unhappy with Lopetegui. People are paying good money and want to be entertained
-
Don't think it has anything to do with the quality of riders, seen plenty of rubbish meetings in the Premiership. Even in SGP sometimes it ain't good. Compare Poole v Glasgow and Glasgow v Poole championship 2024 same riders but far better racing at Glasgow.
-
It's just like premier league football winning isn't enough, fans want to be entertained. Poole = zero entertainment yet their fans seem happy. Nobody else understands why
-
At Glasgow the racing was fantastic and we lost once at home to Poole 44-46 in a last heat decider. Seem to recall Poole lost one meeting at home as well and Oxford had won by heat 14. More importantly saw more passing in one meeting than the whole season at Poole
-
But they do spend money on their team at Championship level but nothing on the racing surface. One of the best meeting I ever saw on TV was the speedway World Cup at Poole but now the racing is garbage
-
I'm not saying there team weren't good I watched them many times winning away on BSN but I wouldn't watch them live at home except when hammering Glasgow because there was no passing after the first lap unless someone made a mistake. Take the last meeting of the season Ashton Boughen looks like a novice in first 2 rides then makes a start and beats Richard Lawson in his 3rd ride, then tailed off last in his 4th ride
-
S Finally it makes sense because I've never seen any track grading at Wimborne Road, just scraping dirt off the track. Something I've never seen at any other track during a meeting on a dry day. The Poole punters might be happy with the product on show but I'd rate the racing as the worst in the league.
-
I stand corrected. I thought Riss had a higher average. Think Edwards, Mulford and Piper should help them to plenty of heat advantages. Now they just need to find someone to prepare the track as last season wasn't as good as previously
-
Over 40 if Riss is 1.5 times his Premiership average. Is that still the conversion rate? If so 40.72
-
Problem is who are they going to get to fill the No.1 and 5 berths? MPT is about the only heatleader available

SGB Championship 2025 - Confirmed Signings
gmarsbar2 replied to berry's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
https://fb.watch/whpiwOeI6R/ Glasgow finally get round to announcing 2025 team, although it's not on their website yet, just social media Chris Harris, Ashton Boughen, Dan Thompson, Leon Flint, Kyle Howarth, Freddy Hodder, Max Perry -
Do you not think reducing the strength of the Poole team may lead to more competitive racing? Does that not lead to a better product? As for Glasgow two 2 point reserves is a gamble. Yes it worked out for Poole this year but if they stay on a 2 point average then Glasgow won't be winning anything.
-
Flint apparently signed a 2 year contract last season.
-
Harris was certainly entertaining but Flint? Are you a Berwick fan? He didn't win enough races at Ashfield and James Pearson scored more/ averaged more around Ashfield. Pearson certainly did way better than anyone expected at Ashfield and increased his average from 4.08 to 5.51. Plus marks also to Jack Smith who's probably going to be a victim of averages yet again.

Standard monthly gets speedway Basic is entertainment channels Premier is standard plus football

Baek ran into Jenkins which caused him to leave the track then lift because he was on the grass, then taking out Thompson. Unbelievable that the ref watched replays and came to the conclusion that Jenkins caused Baek to fall. Also I thought the ref was only able to use video evidence if it was BSN or Eurosport. How does she watch a replay and decide Jack was at fault in heat 5? Re tac sub give that they passed up the opportunity to use a t/s in heat 10 do you not think they would have told Jack don't get a heat advantage in heat 11. The fact that Glasgow only scored 2 points from reserve irrespective of the refs performance was the reason they lost the meeting.
-
No Italy are seeded direct to the final but Paco's average is higher than Leon's anyway.
-
Ashton Boughen is at same meeting as Leon and Matic European Pairs qualifier in Germany
-
You and Mr Godfrey probably think Scunthorpe have seniority over Glasgow. But Glasgow changed to Fridays in 2018 having agreed a deal with Edinburgh, opening in March. Scunthorpe then changed from Sundays for the 2018 season due to rider availability, opening in April. Had Glasgow not changed first they like Arena Essex and Workington would have been forced to move fixtures so Godfrey could get decent guests.

Glasgow v Scunthorpe CL 19/7/24@7-30pm
gmarsbar2 replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Actually it does. Most times referees take the easy option when there's a first bend incident, all four back. Even though apparently it's not in the rule book. Without video evidence there's no way a referee can decide who moved in or out on the back straight. All he can do is use his speedway knowledge to decide who was the primary cause of the incident i.e. assume. All of which indicate Willie Dishington did not make any egregious decisions. -

Rob Godfrey having a whinge about Friday's meeting on BSPL website today. Don't think anyone else would be allowed to openly criticise the referee without sanction. As for the incidents he complains about: 1. Bomber fell on the first bend, most times the referee calls all four back. 2. Jack Smith might have moved but Connor Mountain's helmet touched the tapes. 3. Heat 14 Mountain and Ivacic's bikes locked together on the back straight and they fell on 3rd bend. From the refs box there's no way he can see who's moved in or out but he can assume that Mountain's footrest has stuck in Ivacic's bike. Therefore Mountain is the primary cause of the stoppage. Sour grapes from Godfrey. -
Speedway of Nations 2024

Steve said Manchester was the wrong end of the country. My point was for the majority of active speedway supporters it's not. FYI Manchester is about 200 from Poole and similar from Glasgow where I've travelled from. I wished there was more tracks not just in the south but all over the UK. I remember way back in the day when there was more teams in the National League than there is venues now
