what a joke.week in week out this sport shoots itself in the foot with absurd rules and regs.in its basic form its four guys going round a track for christi sake.never in all the years that i have been attending speedway matches have i come across such petty, stupid rulings.i know that riders need to earn money but for the sake of the sport, this stupid doubling up ruling needs to be brought to a stop.this never happened back in the great times of the 70,s and 80,s and the reason for my rant is that i have every sympathy for both newcastle and every other team whose promotion and supporters suffer at the hands of these ridiculous governing bodies.i,like every supporter in the country, love my speedway.it is a drug that gets you hooked from day one but is in danger of drowning itself in its own set of crazy rulings.the monarchs diamonds meeting should have been a classic with two full sides, now ruined by petty beurocracy.sorry for the long rant but i, like thousands of others, love the sport that i follow and just get frustrated by all the insane rules and regs.at the conclusion of the season the powers that be have got to take a step back and seriously consider just what is killing our sport.the crowd at sheffield last night did not look as though it was going to be anything special.ok weather may have played a part but this was two teams sitting nicely in the table with two full sides, that alone should say there is a big problem.anyway rant over and good luck to monarchs and diamonds supporters for a good, safe meeting -

was in the stadium at 6.30 and the rain was reasonably heavy then.could have been called off not long after that as it looked as if it was in for the night with no sign of stopping. -
just back from yet another professional performance from the boys.kyle was outstanding today, especially the way he seemed to catapult himself around bends 3 and 4.defied gravity at times.lasse and josh g looked very quick.josh bates was superb today, what a great supportive performance for our three heat leaders.good effort too from our two reserves especially rob shuttle worth.not sure what to make of todd.good effort in his third ride but was generally getting passed too easily.all in all thought job well done.what on earth has happened to josh duty around the ear, used to be so reliable for double figures.losing his appetite a little?just a mention for the usually great food.what on earth has happened to the famous curry sauce?it was like gnats p... today.very disappointing!!! auty around the ear.lol damn predictive typing

do i detect a hint of "sour grapes" in your comment.hardley a "select" side with just one change to the team.lets be honest you didn't expect sheffield to come up and run you as close as they did and if the monarchs riders had been up for it when the track was on the greasy side for the first four or five races then your lead could have been greater but no worries because, barring any injuries, our "own" team will get the job done in the second leg. -

waterlogged track according to tigers website, mind you forecast for later on looks pretty grim so good call if it turns out to be the case. more info on monarchs website -
well.great news for us.josh bates guests for ipswich at newcastle and comes off in his second ride and has to withdraw from the meeting with a suspected hand injury.poor lad.now we will be without both joshes at edinburgh in the second leg of k.o cup obviously depending on the extent of joshes injury.if soothe way the monarchs are riding at the moment, our prospects don't seem too good.hope i am wrong as i had planned to go up for 2nd leg.

well certainly a big improvement in the racing from recent weeks.seemed to be a bit more dirt on the track and maybe the bit of rain that we had helped as well.some of the races were top drawer.well done the tigers and well done peterborough for making a decent fight of it.lasse was awesome last night.kyle and josh g were also very good and well done too to the rest of the tigers.looking forward now to a good meeting with the monarchs and hope that we can keep it close for the return leg[weather permitting of course]. -

but most of the racing last year was pants as well.on thursday night it spoke volumes when you have racers like danny king and rory schlein who couldn't make a pass.tigers outgated ipswich pure and simple.now i love to see a tigers win but i,d rather them draw, lose or the score be much closer than see a gate and go meeting. -

after last night i would be surprised if it wasn't back to just the faithful from now on in.it really annoys me because we have the makings of a very decent side but the racing is pure drivel.all bar maybe a couple of passes it was worse than watching paint dry.i was stood amongst a few ipswich supporters and felt for them really spending all that money and time on a thursday evening to watch 12 to 13 heats of boredom.that second bend again is getting downright dangerous because riders are looking for the only grain of dirt out there.if the track continues in the same vain then i regret buying 2 season tickets this year and wished i had gone to scunthorpe instead to see some good old fashioned proper racing.COME ON PROMOTION GET IT SORTED BEFORE YOU ALSO START TO LOSE YOUR REGULARS AS WELL. -
totally agree with you romans lovechild,i too have been going since 1976 and I've seen some cracking meetings over the years but scunthorpe certainly does blow it away in terms of excitement and entertainment and rob godfrey certainly is a very dry humoured character on the mic but here is a guy who is passionate and bleeds scunthorpe speedway.the only reason i won't be attending all of scunnys fixtures this year is because, regardless whether the racing is good or note am and always will beta tiger through and through.

yes r8gdp and comet 49 i appreciate what you are saying but speedway used to be such an uncomplicated sport but unless some rules are changed i fear for the sport in general.as i said i don't want to see guests making up a team for the majority of the season and I'm sure most supporters would agree.well done workington on what was obviously a good win tonight.just hope that we can bounce back from this defeat and look forward otherwise i fear for the rest of the season. -

what a farce.firstly robs riding, then he isn't,then he is.r/r for lasse who gets injured riding for another team as a guest according to updates, you really couldn't make it up.unfortunately gone now are the days when a team had its own riders but i can only see it being another season full of r/r and guests.if this is the way then i think i may just give it this season and that will be it.the rules and regs now are beyond madness and after following sheffield for 40 years it will be sad to not follow the sport anymore. -

great win for the tigers last night.good to see lass in amongst the points albeit his first win should have been called back after he got a massive flyer.todd looked the biz also.josh rode very well.robert and jack looked well on the pace apart from maybe jacks last couple of rides and kyle, well what can you say.a superb captain who leads by example and never stops trying.well done the tigers and lets hope that we can go to workington full of confidence on saturday. sorry, forgot to mention todd.he certainly looked the part last night and long may it continue. sorry did mention him.old age and all that!!! -

well.quite an interesting night.i opted for a season ticket for myself and spouse for this year on the strength of the team line up and hopefully the racing improving but unsure whether this was the right decision.was pleased to see a large crowd with plenty of new faces but on the evidence of the racing last night doubt whether any of them will return, yes the meeting was close in respect of the score but not the racing itself.we brought along a newbie last night and he said he liked the smell and the atmosphere but that was his only comment as i don't think he wanted to offend us.i personally think that what was commented in the programme is true in respect of the bikes now being much too fast and agree that i would rather the races be a few seconds slower and the racing closer rather than gate and goodbye as was the case in much of last nights racing.shame because this promotion deserve to succeed but as commented i can only see a return to previous crowd figures with perhaps a few old and new supporters returning. -
yes.what a breath of fresh air the promotion are turning out to be.they certainly deserve all credit for this gesture and hope that more people fill the terraces.am now in my 40th year of watching speedway and can honestly say that i have probably never looked forward to a season as much as this one.roll on tapes up.well done sheffield
-
as a sheffield supporter even i will vouch for that.best racing track in the country full stop.best grub as well if i,m honest
-
does anyone know if season tickets are valid for this meeting
-
hard to say on stead.much will depend i think on other work which may be offered.sky etc
-
season tickets are decent value.works out at just over £12 per meeting plus half price can parking and 10% discount in the shop.no free prog though this year.
