Buster Chapman and the Secret Society
rocket007 replied to Daytripper's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Maybe to allow Belle Vue to move their racenight to Friday, and make sure all their riders are available instead of Championship sides having preference. It is no secret that BV are in dire sh*t and Bspa wouldn't want to loose another team, let alone the the NSS being left idle. -
When is the deadline for signing riders.

I don't go to Speedway to see so-called big names, I go because it's Rye House v Whoever. I go to see the 7 Rye riders against 7 riders from the opposition. How many times have a Team turned up only for their star man to have been injured last night in Sweden/Denmark/Poland etc. I won't go if it is pre-publicised that the away side are running R/R + 2 guests. I also think that if a rider is going to be out injured for more than 28 days, then they should be forced to sign someone else instead of running R/R all season. It is nice to have riders such as Bomber, Scotty & KK at Rye, but I would be just as happy to have say, Wells, Shanes & Garrity riding, as it would still be 7 Rye riders. I think most people go to Speedway to watch a match, not individual riders. On a previous post about fans stop going after LA left Swindon, why didn't they all return when Doyle(so called star name) was there. It isn't about Star names anymore, it's about 7 Riders in a Team, on a night that suits and continuity of a fixture list.

I agree. When MK closed, the Town was only starting to be built up. Regards the Football, average crowds of between 8-12000 are actually quite healthy. If the Stadium was only a 15000 capacity one, then it would look almost full, but it was built much bigger at the time with progress in mind, because it was cheaper rather than keep extending it over the years.

Why should Rye have to be a Friday night track. We have always been either Saturday or Sunday and that is where we need to be. Although the BSPA haven't help matters with the FRN, most blame must lie with the Rye promotion. We had a reasonable Stadium with good viewing, decent Bar and other facilities. Now, the entrance(car park) is like walking on the moon, and once in the Stadium it is an awful mess and shambles. The so-called improvements are actually worse now than before, and how the H&S have passed some of the construction is a joke. This is more of a reason for Fans staying away rather than the FRN. This is why I don't go anymore as there is just nothing to look forward too. Parking and viewing are just not enjoyable and not worth venturing out for. The BMR Promotion need to take a good look at themselves, restore the Stadium back to being reasonable, drop back to the Championship and restore Saturday night Speedway. Only if this is implemented, will fans start to return.

By the way, I was planning on going Tomorrow but due to unforeseen circumstances I wouldn't have been able to make it. -

To save on speculation, instead of putting due to unforeseen circumstances, why don't the club reveal more? If it is a problem with the Stadium or Track, then say it. If it is a problem with Riders, then say it. If it's something else then explain a little more. Fans are left so frustrated with announcements like this. -
Managed to get through to Malcolm and meeting is on July 7th at 4.30pm with Programmes available and refreshments. Free entry.

I have just seen in the Speedway Mag that there is a Veterans meeting next Month(July) at Lydd. Does anyone know what date, and what time does it start. Also, are programmes available for these meetings. I have tried contacting someone but had no reply.

OK, Thanks. I missed seeing that.

Rye House Vs Kings Lynn Stars Mon 28/ 05/2018
rocket007 replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I am not up to scratch on riders averages but was wondering that if Rye are below the points limit, and Harris, Kennett & Clegg have so far underachieved, when the new averages come out, would Rye be able to drop Clegg and re-instate Stewart Robson or would the points be to high. -

I think you are the one being thick not to realise that NKI is fit enough to ride in the GP, then fit enough to earn mega money in Poland, but not then fit enough to ride in the UK. Surely he could have ridden today, then started his physio. -

I guarantee had Poole or any other club tried this, they would have been shot down by everybody as trying to pull a fast one. But when you have the Chairman of the BSPA own club doing it, who is going to challenge the decision. Had Chapman been told that only a NL rider could be used as a replacement, without doubt, NKI would have ridden at Rye tonight. -

Totally agree. It's the picking and choosing again. I have no problem with NKI not being at Rye, only about having a facility for a rider who clearly isn't injured enough to stop him riding. -

If it's NKI choice to take time out, then no facility should be available. Obviously the injury isn't that bad to stop him riding in the GP's. -

If NKI can ride in the GP's, then he can ride at Rye on Monday. If not, only a NL guest facility should be available. It makes a mockery of the sport when riders can pick and choose their meetings and clubs still get a facility for them. Surely if NKI is only having physio, then he can wait another day. -
Thanks for the replies about Lydd. Very helpful info.

If the proposed New Stadium has been built in Kit form as detailed previously, who paid for it and who is paying the storage charges, as it was stated that it is finished and awaiting construction. Also, having visited the Abbey last season and seen the housing development, I can't see any way the Stadium can survive, as it is on prime construction land. Alarm bells should have been ringing when all the delays over drainage problems turns into a statement that Stadium can't be relocated, but housing can be built. The next will be that the New grandstand will now replace the old one, and once demolished nothing else will get built. If Barretts have sold houses on the pretext of Stadium being moved, then who is liable, and are there any plans available to show what exactly Barretts have permission to build and where.

Does anyone know if there are any planned meetings at Lydd Speedway this season, and if so are there any dates please.

I notice on the Rye website that there has already been a fixture change due to rider unavailability. They are now having a double-header(home & away) with Swindon on Easter Monday in the KO Cup.

Steve Boxall?

If the other riders know who the last signing is(and there can't be doubt otherwise riders wouldn't tweet fans will be happy) then why can't the management just announce it now and be done with.
