  1. As a Rye House Supporter, if I travel up next Wednesday for the second meeting only, how much will the admission price be for the 10 heats(as that is all that Kings Lynn will be able to fit in) Also, was yesterdays second meeting abandoned because of a curfew, or because nobody could be bothered anymore.
  2. There shouldn't be any outstanding fixtures. Teams have gone week after week without holding a meeting when there used to be regular weekly meetings. With our usual Bank Holiday weather, what happens next week if the double headers are off.
  3. One question. With Robson on 11 points and going well, and Harris on only 6, why wasn't Robson given heat 15?
  4. That was for an event that was well publicised and people knew in advance so had made travel arrangements. The Holder incident was only announced about 24 hours before, so people probably couldn't cancel. My point was if the promoter has already said the season is over, then why should fans still bother to go as the club has already got the money.
  5. I presume the Peterborough fans will benefit by having free admission to all remaining home meetings, as the promoter has already been paid a substantial sum. Also Ged has given up on the rest of the season, so should all the supporters. It will be interesting to see exactly what the BSPA do, as the rules clearly state that Holder has to have a 28 day ban. Peterborough should also be charged with contempt of the sport. If Holder is banned and it affects Poole, then tough. I can't believe they would not have been involved in any discussions regarding what Holder was going to do, and probably got some of the money being handed out. This sport is dying a slow death with more and more supporters giving up, and less new ones coming along. Something drastic has to happen to reinvigorate it, but who or what can do anything to turn it around.
  6. On updates site, Workington v Sheffield states that Richard Hall is guesting for Rob Branford.
  7. My comments weren't aimed at being negative. Some of the things I mentioned must be essential. People ask who is going to pay, but that has to be the owners. Some things must come before a Motor Bike showroom. If you want to keep getting those sort of crowds, then facilities must be a priority. As a matter of interest, one of the people I was with is a ground grader for lower league football, and he said if it was a football ground, most of it would be closed off or open but with no fans allowed in.
  8. I made my first visit for 3 years to Rye last and thoroughly enjoyed it. The stadium has changed a lot since my last appearance, and not being negative, I would like to make a few observations. Having parked in the go-kart car park, I paid at the entrance there but no programmes were available. I had to go all the way up to the other entrance to get one. Would it not be easier to also have a table for the people taking the gate money with programmes there as well? I understand the larger crowds that are expected and queues are going to happen, but there needs to be another food outlet somewhere(possibly on the top of bends 1-2) There also needs to be more lightning for spectators on bends 1-2 and 3-4 because when it started to get dark, seeing to fill in programme was getting harder. I also counted at least 12 floodlight bulbs that were not working. Finally, could there not be a steward on car park duty at the end to stop there being a free for all? I know the stadium is work in progress, but these are things that would make everyone's visit a bit better. P.S. The raffle prize seemed quite small compared to the size of the crowd. I didn't know any were on sale. Could a couple of people, not walk amongst the crowd selling them?
  9. I would hope and imagine that Rye House should see a significant increase to start the season with. There are some well known big names (Scotty, Bomber Eddy) on show, instead of average unknown foreigners, and new teams that the supporters haven't seen before visiting. Away support should also be better as teams like Poole, Swindon Belle Vue haven't been to Rye for a long time, and for many of their supporters it will be a new track. How long they can sustain any increase will be entirely down to how well they do. If they keep getting beat at home support will soon drop off, but if successful crowds should stay healthy. Also if all Stadium improvements have been carried out that will help as for the last 2-3 seasons the place has been a tip and not very enjoyable.
  10. The BSPA have questions to answer. As a governing body of the sport, why did they allow all this to drag on throughout the winter without making a deadline for a decision whether Coventry ran or not. Why did they agree and allow Coventry to sign a 8 meeting contract then allow all fixtures to be produced with Coventry included, only to withdraw their licence once Belle Vue announced they were running, and then citing that as only 8 meetings were agreed this was not acceptable. I can't see how Coventry can come back in 2018, because there is very little likelihood that they can find suitable land, get planning permission, then build a Stadium all in time for next season. Brandon will never be fit for purpose for any sport unless the owners sell up to a sports minded enthusiast. A full season track share would also be financial suicide for any promoter to take on. Although Chapman is chairman, the BSPA is made up of a committee of people. Where have all the other members been all winter as none of them seem to have spoken out about anything going on at Leicester, Belle Vue or Coventry. I am not a Coventry fan, but a speedway supporter and I feel so sorry for all those Bees fans. As we know, most supporters are beyond average age(40?) and their lifetime enjoyment has been ruined by a handful of people. In future the BSPA must vet potential owners/investors to check what their real motives are.
  11. Hi I am a relative newcomer to this forum and through following this thread I would like to ask if any of the Temperary Stands put up for the SWC, have now been removed, and if they have is building work as to the original plans now being carried out to completion. If none of this work is being done, then I would imagine the new promotion must be working on a lease for only a half built Stadium, or on condition that the Stadium is completed to original plans.
  12. Has anyone got any news on the stadium refurb?
  13. I would like to ask a question. If this saga had been about Buxton, or say Stoke, would the BSPA have let them have numerous deadlines without a decision coming? I think not. This is why Speedway discredits itself. I don't support Coventry but wouldn't want to see them close, but why is this being allowed to drag on and on. It isn't just affecting one club, but 3 and all the Supporters. How can a fixture list be produced with every club having TBC on it against certain meetings. Season Tickets cannot be brought without knowing how many meetings there will be. I am one of those people who need to give work plenty of notice for time off, but can't do it because I don't know if the fixture will be going ahead. Rainoffs are part and parcel of Speedway, but the present scenario is a joke. Coventry need to step aside for one season and let the other clubs get on with promoting their product. The Coventry Supporters club and all their fans(and other Speedway Supporters) need to pressurise the council to find a suitable piece of land to rebuild the club. The council owes them this because they have known for a long time this would happen and have done nothing to help. Coventry sharing at Leicester will not work. The Supporters have already said they won't go, so how long can the promotion fund the club before they run up massive debts and go bankrupt. My views are probably a bit strong and many won't agree, but a lot more will
  14. Simple. Rugby has rules that are applied equally to all sides competing, with no favouritism or biasness or self-interest. Also, it is played in stadiums with decent viewing, catering and toilet facilities.
