  1. Sorry I was talking about the Leicester riding order. Reading two threads and asked the right question in the wrong thread. I should not post when as tired as I am this evening.
  2. I thought the top rider in the teams averages had to ride at number 1 which is what Morris was doing.
  3. Morris was riding at number 1. Has his average dropped that much?
  4. Special meetings like the Bears Bash have always got a much bigger crowd than a normal meeting for the cars so the special meetings should not be used as an indication of how good crowds for the cars are. I understand that regular meeting have had lower crowds than they got in the past. Exactly how much lower I don't know and it would have to be a regular who had been a regular for a long time who could possibly give that sort of information.
  5. The motorcycle training school was on what is now a car park near where the Crystal Palace was until it burnt down.
  6. Yes, the motor circuit used to feature car, sidecar and bike racing. It was the only non oval race track I have really enjoyed watching racing at. Sadly the athletics track cut across the bottom straight and they always had lots of complaints about noise from a local hospital. The chances of getting permission to run any motor sport would be very slim and that is if they would allow the athletics track to be dug up. There must be room in the grounds to build a simple stadium without knocking anything down but the noise issue would still stop anything happening.
  7. The Cowdenbeath track is a rather four cornered circuit and not at all a good shape for speedway but a few miles up the road is Lochgelly and that would make a lovely track but I very much doubt that the stock car promotion would want shale anywhere near their track so very unlikely to be much help.
  8. I did think about that but there is no way I could then catch the last London train which before Covid got me home around 12.50am.
  9. We always have to remember that if a politician's lips are moving then they are probably lying! This fact applies to to all political parties. In fact it is probably true that anyone who wants to be a politician is not suitable for the job.
  10. Very sorry to hear that the last meeting of the season which was due to take place tomorrow, Thursday, has been cancelled due to the weather. Even more unhappy that due to Wightlink not running the late ferry from Ryde to Portsmouth this year I have not been able to see any of the racing at Smallbrook. Here's to a successful 2023 for the Worriers and Wightlink restoring their pre-covid timetable so I can visit and see some speedway.
  11. The fact that league matches are not all run before the play-offs start is madness. Teams should not be fined for failure to complete their fixtures before the end of the season, they should be fined for failure to complete before the play-offs start. Then we would not get the madness of Plymouth and Glasgow racing a match long after the play-offs have started.
  12. A close match from Buster A and Buster B! I wonder how that happened.
  13. The current Crayford stadium has no room for a track inside the greyhound track for a speedway track. The stand has very poor viewing of the dog track as it is built too close to the track so from most seats you can't see the start finish line. I used to watch speedway, stock cars and bangers regularly at the old stadium and went to have a look at the new stadium a couple of years after it opened. I fear that even if the dog track could be made into a speedway track it would be almost impossible to get planning permission and equally hard to actually be able to see all of the track which only has viewing on one straight.
  14. I have just tried to ask for the video to be removed but the site says I am not allowed to report a post!
  15. I am sure that back in the 1960s and 70s the riders wore their team race jackets which I think is what should happen in both the Championship and Premiership Riders Championships.
  16. You mean replacing spectators with empty space is all part of the plan! Is this the only plan that has existed for more than one year?
  17. Very hard to get a grip with a hand broken in three places!
  18. I remember going to another track when the TV cameras were present and they were giving out air horns and encouraging them to be used at the start and end of every race. I returned for the next meeting and was told they did not allow air horns to be used in the stadium. I asked why they had given them out two weeks earlier and was told not to be awkward! Promotion and track did not last much longer.
  19. With what happened tonight it is about time that teams were only allowed to use rider replacement if they have declared a number eight and the number eight is present and ready to race. Riders being taken ill or being hurt racing cannot be helped but there should always be seven riders ready to race at the start of a meeting for both sides.
  20. I agree that Hackney went thanks to the 2012 Olympic games but Wimbledon was knocked down to build a football stadium and 600+ flats and for the developer it was the flats that made the money and the football stadium was just there to get planning permission.
  21. There have been a number of people mentioning the lack of racing in London and having lived in the capital for most of my life I can only feel very sad at what has happened. While I was young my parents took me racing to Wimbledon, West Ham, New Cross, Hackney, Crayford, White City and Romford for Speedway. We also went to Wimbledon, Harringay, West Ham, White City, Walthamstow and Crayford for Stock Cars. At the same time there was greyhound racing at all of those tracks except Romford which still has a greyhound track. Two other greyhound tracks that come to mind are Crayford and Wandsworth. Except for the Romford and Crayford greyhound stadiums all are now closed and knocked down with shopping centres or housing built on the site. Tracks just outside London included Staines, Arena Essex, Rye House and Rayleigh which I enjoyed racing at but no longer exist. The whole situation is very sad for speedway, stock car and greyhound racing fans. London has become a desert with ever more housing built and then our political masters wonder why the young find entertainment in spraying graffiti everywhere or having mob fights at a weekend. Now my closest tracks for speedway are Poole and Isle of Wight but public transport no longer can get me home afterwards. For stock cars the choice is Aldershot and that is a 30 minute walk from the station! I am just happy to have enjoyed the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s when I could enjoy motor racing on 2 and 4 wheels in the London area and feel sorry for those who are growing up now.
  22. Up until this season the news section always gave information if a match had been postponed for any reason but now all they do is remove the pre meeting promotion article and you have to go to the fixtures page to find out if the meeting has been postponed or if the website is just playing games and has lost the article for some reason. A bad case of not keeping your paying public up to date.
