IOW Warriors v Mildenhall Fen Tigers 8/8/19
Chris116 replied to Chris116's topic in National League Speedway
He has asked me to introduce myself so we can have a chat. His enthusiasm is infectious. -
The next meeting at Smallbrook Stadium this Thursday at 7pm sees the Fen Tigers from Mildenhall looking to improve on their nine point loss in the Trophy early in the season. Warriors will be fresh from their Silver Ski Four Team tournament win on Monday at Kent but will probably be without Danno Verge after his heat 14 crash with Adam Extance which saw both riders in need of attention and the meeting result called after 13 of the 16 heats had run. My best wishes to both Danno and Adam on a speedy recovery. It looks as though this Thursday should be a close encounter with both sides needing to add to their league points tally. For me personally, it will be my first meeting since Rye House closed and I wish to thank Barry Bishop for his encouragement which has raised my enthusiasm for the sport back to where it has been for over 60 years. The bad news for Barry is that this will be my first meeting as an over 65!

A sad end to what appeared to be a good meeting. Best wishes to Adam Extance and Danno Verge following their crash at the start of heat 14. Well done to IOW Warriors on their victory this evening and over the three rounds.

I see the BSPA website is out of date as usual. It still redirects you to www.glasgowtigers.co instead of www.glasgowtigers.com! You would have thought that when all the teams changed to .com they would have updated the links for ALL the teams not just some of them.

Something to do with how it is cooked!

Never forget that Parker would make Chapman appear to be an angel. Any good that Parker ever did in either Speedway or Stock Cars was only done due to it being in his interests. The nastiest piece of work I ever met.

I hope Philip Rising doesn't see this thread, it could be bad for his health!

Can I ask where you got this information from as neither the SCB or BSPA websites say anything? You have to wonder when the report will be published given how long we have been waiting for reports of investigations that were started last season.

Poole v Peterborough. Prem. 1/8/19

I thought Debbs was JCF's girlfriend and she said she was topless on Poole beach so looks like he is two timing her or can't remember what he/she typed earlier! -
King's Lynn vs Peterborough. Thursday July 25th
Chris116 replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sadly I have not seen a single meeting this season. Last season I went every meeting at Rye House except for the last one. I know it is possible for me to get to Poole, Peterborough, Isle of Wight and Belle Vue by train but all would cost a lot of money even with an advance rail ticket which given the British weather and fixture changes don't really seem a good idea. I am 65 and have been watching speedway since the age of 3. I don't expect Grand Prix stars for £5. Over the past couple of years I have been to two Junior Championship meetings at Rye House and very enjoyable they were. So I am a stay away fan who still follows the sport and would love to have a local track but after a lifetime with tracks all around London I now find I have no local Speedway or Stock Car tracks within a sensible distance which I find very sad and as a parting shot I pray that Galliard Homes find a massive sink hole and fall into it, having knocked down my second home, Wimbledon Stadium. -

Thankfully it appears the four aliases haven't worked out which one is going to start it. -
Berwick v Somerset, Saturday 20 July 7pm
Chris116 replied to George Dodds's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The track you were on must have had no dirt otherwise you would have been in front all the time! -
Yes, and if you sat on the front row you still had to lean forward a bit which didn't go down well with those behind you. Only went once, paid to go in the stand but after one race went out and spent the evening on the terraces watching each race from a different point around the track. There was enough dirt to allow a leg trailer on a Rudge to go well!

Any chance someone could fix that nasty repeat on the 'm' key for bjcol. Other option would be to remove the whole keyboard! -
Yes, and 95% of them did all the work on their own bike and had a second job. They didn't have to pay an engine tuner or a mechanic, they did their own tuning and a friend or relative was their mechanic who was happy with free admission, a drink and a fish and chip supper. Very different times. Back in the late 50's and early 60's there were also a number of Stock Car drivers whose full time job was racing, something that would be totally impossible nowadays. Again showing how times change.

I am a great believer that all tracks should have good medical cover for the safety of both riders and spectators. What I have never understood is why the track paramedic has to go with the NHS ambulance to hand their patient over to the hospital. Surely they could hand the patient over to the paramedic in the ambulance who could then hand them over to the hospital staff while the track paramedic was then able to stay at the track and be available for any further incidents. EDIT I understand that if the track ambulance is used to carry the patient to the hospital then the track paramedic would have to accompany them. But over the years have been at meetings where an NHS ambulance has arrived and the track paramedic has gone with it to the hospital which is the bit I don't understand.

Like stirring things! Under at least four names!

Just a quick note to say that Sam is still in my thoughts even though we have not had any further news. Best wishes to Sam and his family.

I don't have Facebook so just checked the website which by now has hopefully been updated. If they are only going to tell those on Facebook why bother having a website which shows incorrect information? EDIT at 14:42:- Just checked the website and it still shows the meeting as the next fixture.

BSPA and Belle Vue websites have the meeting postponed but Plymouth website still shows it running. Nothing like keeping supporters well informed!

"Jamaica", no she wanted to!

Because they are my favourites, you must have got my selection boxes. I have always wondered who pinched them!
-
Opps, must be my old age! Mind you I don't like nuts.

We ALL are on Topic although I thought they had been renamed Snickers a long time ago. Please try to keep up to date!

Peterborough v Belle Vue - Prem Mon 15th July

There used to be a well run track at the EOES that was for car racing but the landlords got rid of it many years ago and I don't think they would want any sort of car racing on the current speedway track.
