  1. Thanks to the Bears fans who made the journey over good to see you all . Comets weren't in front until heat 13 so you guys must have been slightly disappointed you didn't go away with all 3 points, the aggregate bonus was at least some consolation. I think the destination of the bonus was set during the first half of the meeting when the Bears posted 4 heat advantages and Comets suffered 2 mechanical failures when in scoring positions. In lots of ways I'm left reflecting what might have been this weekend if certain Comets team members had been present but that's another story. To those that represented Comets in their absence I would like to say thank you for giving your best it was appreciated by the fans. Antti Vuolas was superb in this meeting and showed how much it meant to him, some of his racing especially heat 9 when coming from behind against Danny King was edge of seat top drawer speedway, his best performance of the season for me topped off by a superb match winning ride in heat 15, fantastic. Big wraps to Paul Starke who's battling performance from reserve especially his 4th to 2nd in the heat 12 5-1 turned the meeting. The Bears battled hard and were pretty solid again throughout with Danny King best on the day while guest James Pearson gave a battling performance at No2. The Bears have still to go to Glasgow for their final away meeting, this could be a cracker in terms of fighting to make the playoffs. UTC !!
  2. With Jordan Jenkins in good form last night for the Comets who rides Berwick well then I fancy an away win here.
  3. Big thanks to Jordan Jenkins for his great battling effort as a guest for the Comets. Batch was a superb skipper last night leading from the front, his gating was back to its best and he was quick on track. in some ways it was very disappointing because with Cookie and Claus a win could well have been on but well done the Bears on their win you were the more solid team. Thanks to young Ace piper for stepping into the difficult No2 position, he improved during the meeting and was right on the pace in heat 13. Antti was a little below par not his usual sharpness from the gate . Gonna be a big meeting at the GT Tyres Arena, heaven knows who will be Comets No1 . UTC !
  4. If true then Claus is blameless and deserves no criticism.
  5. might make it if he left right after heat 10 and there were no delays, but surely he won't be trying this.
  6. Not possible unless he is travelling by Helicopter.
  7. Antti guesting at No6 tonight for Leicester in place of Cookie.
  8. Started the season like a house on fire but we haven't seen that Claus for quite a few meetings now. Apparently " Vissing's Gone Missing' is a term within the Speedway world.
  9. What's happened there is indeed a good question. The promotion must be spitting feathers over this . Here we are at the business end of the season and Vissing goes missing for 2 very important fixtures. Without more information it looks on the face of it very unproffesional especially as no facility has been granted. No disrespect to Ace but Claus has scored 10 and 9 at Redcar this season so it is a huge ask for the young man.
  10. Very good financial reasons for that me thinks.
  11. Lawson, Brennan and Ben Cook are arguably the fastest gaters in the Championship and also very quick when in front so passing them is difficult. Justin Sedgeman did manage to beat them all at Wimborne Rd when Edinburgh visited last but he needed his top gating boots on to do it. The thing is the Poole heat leaders are very consistent (Rich Lawson has been for years), very professional with very good equipment. They also seem to ride well everywhere they go. Tom Brennan has progressed and been a top signing, probably rider of the season to date.
  12. In my experience kids do get bored at Speedway . Keeping them more entertained is definitely something promoters should be looking at. Sure the adults would appreciate more entertainment during track grades and intervals also. Chase at Belle Vue does a great job. Like lbw stated you very often can't hear portable mic interviews so these are often of little value entertainment wise unless the sound quality is very good.
  13. Don't forget most riders had been signed up before Worky were confirmed in the Championship. I think Celina was worth a punt and she is undoubtedly quick when in front. It was her poor gating, bravery in first corners and perceived inability to improve her race position when behind that were evident. If she can improve these there is no doubting her bike skills . Like you say Celina not really scoring points will probably have increased the pressure on Sam.
  14. As a Worky fan there on Friday I can confirm the speaker on turn 1 was just acoustic noise when the presenter spoke but nice and clear on updates from the result announcer. It was same earlier in the season .
  15. I believe an International Sportsperson Visa has replaced the old Tier 3 or Tier 5 visa. Supposedly with the correct docs you can get one in 3 weeks or 5 days if you pay more.
  16. Forum users should show respect for other fans within the speedway family including using words like scummy and pilots all of which are uncalled for. It used to wind me up when Dick Barrie got stuck into the Comets fans calling us Comics etc when on the presentation mic at Berwick.
  17. Tom was very impressive at Worky yesterday without having to do anything spectacular, quick from the gate and fast round the track, may have been more entertaining if he had missed the gate more often.
  18. Dunno , I fancy my chances against yourself, Derek, Richie and Ces lol .
  19. I think the kids races at Glasgow are a great idea and there are always plenty of participants whenever we are there. I personally think it's something Worky should introduce now the centre green is getting established.
  20. Steve and Andrew did water and grade after 2 heats and generally kept on top of it thereafter. My perception was that visible dust was not really an issue especially in the main meeting, did increase later on in the Junior Championship races though but again not excessive.
  21. Poole were very good today, your a good side if youv'e won your last 11 meetings so well done to them. We were outgated as indeed we were at Wimbourne Road way too many times and the top Pirates in the team were too fast when in front often enough for us to not be able to reel them in. Only 4 heat wins and 10 last places tells its own story. Sometimes results are also influenced by what circumstances the team you are racing against are experiencing and without doubt we missed Tate Zischke today. He had been knocking in double figures around Northside prior to his injury. A team can carry one non scoring reserve but two makes it a big ask even if just one of your top five misfires so I can't help but feel that we should have strengthened up . As a club we should not lose sight that the main income stream is usually the paying public so promotions should do there very best to give the fans the strongest line up they can just like Poole do. I admire them for that. Thanks to the Pirate fans that made the journey i'm sure you will have enjoyed your day and indeed your weekend, it's always great to see your team win away and to achieve that feat on consecutive days must have been great. For Worky we really need to regroup if we are to make the playoffs and extend our season. We can't really afford any drop off in form from any rider because you can't always rely on guests to score the points the rider there guesting for would so lets not fade away and undo the solid work to date. Up the Comets.
  22. First 4 heats were a disaster for the Comets and we never fully recovered. The Scorps exploited the inside line off turn 2 multiple times with Claus going so wide on one occasion he was nearly in the next postcode. We had some battling heats in the middle of the meeting but a 2-4 and 1-5 in heats 12 and 13 effectively killed off any chance of the aggegate bonus point. Cookie led from the front tonight and he showed tremendous courage in heat 15 to squeeze round the outside on turn 2 to come out in front. Thanks to Jason Edwards for guesting tonight he battled in every race and maybe deserved more points . The warning signs are there that if we don't all fire tomorrow we will be another scalp for the Pirates so come on you Comets it's time to raise the bar and come out fighting especially Sam and Celina.
  23. I wouldn't mind knowing what Poole pay their riders , be interesting for most fans I would imagine so fire away Skidder1 .
  24. Ashton great guest for Poole. Be harder for him at No 2 though.
