I don't think anyone should jump to conclusions about Kyle because he done a few laps round Worky after the meeting. 'Retiring' from competetive Speedway don't automatically mean a guy who has been riding Speedway bikes since he was a young boy doesn't still fancy a skid.

Crowd looked pretty decent today although I didn't do a rough head count.

The Chargers fully justified why I believe they are arguably the strongest team in the NDL. The solid team performance required from the Comets sadly didn't materialise, this was compounded by falls and mechanical failures which effectively contributed to 11 last places. Comets 12 points down after 5 heats and 14 down after 9 were never able to generate enough momentum to seriously look like overturning the deficit though we did manage to reduce it to 8 points after heat 11 following the bizarre disqualification of Alfie Bowtell for not wearing his race jacket, first time I've ever witnessed this one. Top performer for the Comets was Ace Piper with 12 from 5 and the young man is coming along nicely. Sam had a big off on turn 3 so it was good to see him walk back to the pits after being released from under the air fence. The Chargers were generally solid throughout, conversely none of their riders had a fall or a mechanical failure . The 3 heat leaders scored good points and were ably supported by Jacob Clouting and Jody Scott . The racing was generally entertaining with the Comets beaten by the better team on the day. Hope the supporters who made the journey from Oxford enjoyed their visit and had a safe journey home.

Poor planning that Neil lol

Good bit of natural watering late yesterday/ overnight will help Steve Lawson with pre meeting water requirements, sure he will be grateful for that. Weather forecast is good for this afternoon. The Chargers with a full team look the strongest in the league for me personally and will prove a stiff test even with a slightly weakened bottom end. Alfie Bowtell should be a very good guest for Jordan Jenkins after already impressing at Northside for Mildenhall. Bit disappointed Jordan is injured as I was looking forward to watching him following some strong performances in British Speedway over the last two seasons. Henry Atkins is another catching the eye at the minute putting in some very strong performances in the Championship. It has to be a solid team performance by the Comets if we are to take the points and go some way toward challenging for the aggregate bonus point when we visit Oxford for the return meeting. Its been a couple of weeks since most of the team have ridden competetive speedway and there is no substitute for time on the bike. UTC !

We were already down at Cambridge and were disappointed when the meeting was postponed as the rainfall radar sites generally showed Mildenhall to be on the very eastern edge of any precipitation until further on into the evening. May well have been spooked by the weather warning and the BBC who pretty much overhyped the potential weather forecast. There were a couple of heavier showers in Cambridge but nothing cataclysmic.

Yeah that is more than strange, i'm with you hope he is indeed okay. I haven't seen him at Worky meetings either. -
For some teams yes, i believe there are only 4 teams in the KO Cup.
-
Not enough fixtures for sure, Workington have staged 4 Home NDL fixtures out of the 7 scheduled. Only leaves 3 for the rest of the season and one of them is on June 24th.

It does sound rather implausible. Think a bit of retrospective covering up may be going on to try and mitigate against the likelyhood of disciplinary action. -

Harry did improve in terms of body language and riding style but still only managed 2 from 5. In his first ride he resembled a novice which suggested he his not getting enough time on the bike. If lack of bike time is one of the contributing factors then that is something Harry can put right and needs to. Worky are sticking by him so that is the least he can do. -

Think the Comets got a bit lucky today. the Lion Cubs may well have won but for the disappearance of Ashton Boughen who had been so impressive in the U21 Semi Final and 4th Round of the GB Youth Championship and the unfortunate injury withdrawal of Tom Spencer after a first bend crash in his very first race. With no facility allowed for Boughen the Cubs had only one rider in 3 heats. At 38-33 after heat 12 the Cubs were well in the contest with Max Perry, Joe Thomson, Adam Roynon and Max James making a good fist of it. A home 4-2 and 5-1 in heats 13 and 14 finally seen off the Leicester resistance and secured the points for the Comets. There was some good speedway on show which duly demonstrated the potential of the track to provide entertaining racing with the right calibre of rider. Connor Bailey was Comets best with a paid maximum and he was well supported by Luke Harrison, Ace Piper and Sam McGurk. Credit to the track staff who managed to subdue dust levels to a minimum on another hot and breezy day. It was good to see a good few Leicester fans in the crowd so thanks to all who made the journey. I hope you enjoyed your visit despite the unfortunate goings on with your No2 rider. Noticed Roy Clarke was missing again today on the mic so obviously he hasn't fully recovered from his illness, get well soon Roy. -

It was suggested his father was with him and could well have been the overwhelming influence in what occurred. Apparently car parks cannot be used as pits for health and safety reasons, this didn't suit and resulted in them leaving. If this is the case it is diabolical, there were a good few Leicester fans who gratefully made the journey and this action may well have cost them a victory bearing in mind the dominance Ashton demonstrated on track the last couple of weekends. It is these Leicester fans I feel a lot of sympathy for, quite disgraceful actually. -

Harry has been sorely lacking in all departments so far not least confidence and looking like he his actually enjoying it. I hope he can rediscover some passion, speed and confidence otherwise i can't see him having a future in speedway. Callum Foy isn't ready for this level from what i have seen to date and i doubt very much he will get a ride from choice. -

Haven't seen much of Dan Thomoson to be honest so maybe that comment is reminiscing back to the Roynon who was a Comets heat leader and former track record holder. -

Yeah Harry needs to step up and help take a bit of pressure off Luke who is just returning from injury. Thinks this also applies to the skipper geoff. Need all the lads chipping in for sure. -

Looks like Harry drops to reserve on Saturday and Elliot moves into the main body. No news on whether we will be using a guest or rider replacement for Elliot. Always a bit of gamble using rider replacement in case you lose another rider early in the meeting which may result in only having one rider in a heat in the worst case scenario. Conversely it's also a gamble bringing in an effective guest at Elliot's average. Ace will be the only higher average rider able to take one of his rides . Looking forward to this fixture and suspect we will need better luck and all round team performance than last week if we are to secure the points. UTC ! -
Saturday's meeting against Mildenhall was a bit unusual re wind direction. The meeting started with a fairly stiff north westerly wind with any dust blowing from that direction then partbway through the meeting it switched round to a south westerly and blew any dust the other way . By the time the British Junior Championship got underway on Sunday the wind direction was back to north westerly. To be fair dust levels were fairly minimal on Sunday. Looking forward to another close meeting especially after watching Ashton Boughen tear round the track in the British U21's and Junior 500 class recently. Sure Steve Lawson will try everything that is within his control to minimise dust levels . It hasn't rained in Worky since i came back from holiday on 29th April which is unusual in itself.

Some good speedway today, beaten by the better team who had 3 solid heat leaders. Mechanicals and falls cost the Comets valuable points. Harry continues to struggle with only 6 points from 15 rides to date a bit of a concern. Connor was good value today and rode a brilliant heat 15 before what looked like a mechanical cost him a much deserved win. Elliot was in the wars again and may also have suffered a mechanical for his second big of,f hope he isn't too bad. Great comeback for young Luke Harrison who also had a mechanical when in a scoring position. The skipper won't have been happy, he also had a mechanical in his his first ride when in a scoring position. More seating had been installed on the first bend since last week and it looked great so well done to all concerned. Unfortunate delay when someone took ill in the crowd with 2 races to go and once again on a breezy warm day it was hard work to keep the dust down. Missed Ranting Roy today, never thought I would say that. Well done to the Fen tigers. -

After watching Glasgow against Scunthorpe recently I'm surprised at how easy the Tigers appear to have succumbed. Great result for the Bears. -
