What's the point of B'ham completing their league fixtures at Mildenhall/Buxton ??? Who is actually going to go and watch these 'pointless' meetings???
-
Nicholls with a broken ankle???
-
thanks !
-
The 2 riders that have impressed me on viewing this season apart from the obvious, are Alfie Bowtell and Anders Rowe . The one I expected more from (again on viewing) is/was Kyle Bickley .
-
Just a thought ??? not sure if anyone else has mentioned or asked this ??? How come Dan Gilkes was allowed to ride for Lakeside (championship side) last Monday ? Leon Flint wasn't allowed to ride for B'ham against Peterborough because of his age? I'm assuming Dan is 16 years old ?
-
Spot on about the Thompsons ! And going back to 'proud to be a Brummie's' original post ? Eliis Perks gives his all ??? are you serious ??? if he misses the gate and thinks that he can't catch the leader, he always retires and fakes machine trouble.....done several times this season at Perry Barr ! However, I wasn't a fan of Danny Ayres, but he's won me over this season.....I love his all out 'style/never say beaten' attitude.....have to commend his passion ! If we're in the NL next season, I'd love to watch him weekly at PB !
-
Quite right on both counts! Looking at the forecast this match has no chance of taking place (yellow weather warning in place)
-
Whoever gets to the first bend first will win most races at this pathetic track!
-
Any meeting above NL standard would rule Leon Flint out...so what's the point in that??? He is the only sole survivor of our original declared 2018 line-up ?
-
From a neutral perspective....I'd like to see Drew Kemp and Tom Brennan in the line-up (and Conor Coles deserves a spot on current form...as mentioned above)
-
I'd take Eastbourne over 2 legs if we can get there : )
-
Don't see how they can announce that without the tables being finalised ?
-
Getting back on thread? An away point at Mildenhall would get us get back in to the play offs.... I think we can pull this one off !
-
Not really...the NT and the KOC doesn't float my boat...especially as not 'all' teams participate anyway? As for dialling in ? if you're not race ready by start of May then you never will be ..... imo ? I like S4S suggestion that there may be a few surprise results by getting straight on with it....? The only riders that I see being hindered (as far as form/experience go) are the 'new' reserve riders ?
-
This non completion of fixtures is a farce.....and running the National Trophy/KOC matches before the League fixtures doesn't help matters....but 'I/we' (other forum members) have already mentioned this.....but I doubt that the BSPA will take any notice!
-
I agree with you that their 'tracks' are probably not fit for purpose....but I really don't care about Plymouth/Eastbourne completing their fixtures? At the end of the day, the teams that finish above 'us' in the league will be the teams that have 'beat' us and deserve to be there.....so from a B'ham perspective, I can't see any room for argument/debate? Plymouth may be/feel hard done by, but even they've had to cancel meetings because of sewage problems?
-
Stoke beat us fair and square at their place ..... ???
-
I can only guess that they don't know themselves until the play-off situation is resolved ? I certainly can't see it being a 7 man team event.....with our current depletion? I'm really not sure there's any point holding a standard NL challenge match ?
-
Could be an individual, or 4 team tournament ?
-
Got a feeling it will be a Cradley select ?
-
Looks like 'Buxton' could Bux-up '3' teams ? : ) Well it's forecast rain for Sunday, so that could be our season over ? I can't imagine any Brum fan would be that bothered after the season we've had? Nobody will beat Mildenhall over 2 legs anyway....imo

Coventry v Buxton and Mildenhall Monday 17th September (7.30pm)
GiveusaB replied to Woz01's topic in National League Speedway
I hope they do....otherwise we've got to ride...... with more guests than a Jonathan Ross show ! -
The 'Promoters' have been brilliant this season......they've worked really hard to try and generate interest and I think it's been unbelievable they way they've involved the 'kids' (future of the sport) Hats off to the 'management' and their efforts! P.s enjoyed the 'Cycle Speedway' demos....shame they can't get a make shift track on the centre green and make it a regular feature.? I wonder how many kids went home and added a cycle speedway bike to their Xmas list?
-
P.s May be I'm traditionalist ? but I'm not a fan of the 6 man formula? several reasons....most notably, if an injury occurs during the match ? who wants to watch 3 riders in a race? Also, handicapping riders for 2 mins/tape infringements holds no weight either! There needs to be a 7th man...... imo !

Is Speedway still viable in the UK?
GiveusaB replied to JamesHarris's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Imo...speedway is dying because 'other' sports are so much more popular....and speedway can't compete with the competition for 'new blood' through the turnstiles! Other sports such as F1/Football/Cricket/Rugby have all progressed to a totally new level and League speedway, has gone backwards. I'm only a fan/follower because I've been brought up on the sport and it's in my blood.....none of the Premiership matches (our 'so called' TOP division) that I've seen on BT this season have floated my boat !? I don''t know the answers....but the speedway product is really poor ! (p.s with the exception of Heat 13 at BV v Somerset last week? Max Fricke was brilliant!) need more races like that !
