Leicester vs Oxford 7 May 2022
LionsFan replied to PowerfulPierre's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think Richie Worrall mentioned something about the amount of clay when he was interviewed during the interval two or three weeks ago. The track did improve following the long grading break after heat 4 (must have been ok as Morris set a new track record in heat 5) and I thought Stewart Dickson sounded a little embarrassed when he was interviewed regarding track conditions. -

Expected a closer meeting last night, disappointed with Wright and especially Riss, both usually go pretty well at BP. Howarth having a great season at home, really attacks the track. Morris was obviously very quick and (no criticism intended) could probably have knocked more off Bates' track record if he hadn't been pulling wheelies. -

There's always speculation on "strokes being pulled" but no evidence is produced. -

If you are able bodied, and unhappy at the state of the stadium car park, I don't think it's too much to ask for people to walk an extra couple of minutes from the shopping centre car park. In any event it's full at least an hour before the start of the meeting so it seems people are prepared to put up with it. Parking facilities and what is required would I imagine have been part of the original planning permission when the stadium was built. There are marked disabled spaces at the stadium where riders/officials park - I presume these may be available for spectators but don't know for sure. -

I've attended most meetings since re-opening and the racing has vastly improved in the last 2-3 years due to track alterations and different shale being used. I know some people have mobility issues, but there's a perfectly fine car park at the shopping centre only a further two minutes walk away. -
Leicester vs Glasgow 23/04 7pm
LionsFan replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Narrow Glasgow win in my view, I think their second strings are stronger than ours, and Hume knows the track having ridden for the cubs. It could come down to which Cook turns up- he's looked unbeatable in the past, but also had some fairly ordinary meetings. -

Perhaps it should have been £2 or £3 , after being free for a number of years but I don't think it's asking too much. Do kids get in free at other sports events in the city such as LCFC, Tigers or basketball? -
Just because someone is a pensioner doesn't mean they have worked hard all their life, and not all pensioners are poor. Younger people are bearing the cost of bailing us out of the financial mess caused by Covid, with increased national insurance etc. Pensioners still get their free prescriptions, bus passes, winter fuel allowance etc. I say this as someone very near to pension age.

There was talk earlier on this thread that we would be signing an Australian from a northern track, so would Jordan Stewart fit at 4, assuming Howarth and the twins will be back? -

I think the Richie Worrall injury was during a televised meeting. We won't be having Steve W as Dickson has said that Morris is his No.1. -

I think in 2019 Richie was injured riding for Poole so missed the back end of the title winning season. -

Dickson in his interview after Morris signed said that he would be his number 1, so that presumably rules out Steve W and Musielak. -

What does being an asset actually mean? For example does it give Berwick any say in where Etheridge rides and does it last for as long as he rides or is sold on? Presumably Berwick would receive a fee from Leicester in much the same way as football clubs when players are loaned out? -

Morris is a good signing, just needs to find a little more consistency as he and Dickson realise. So assuming Howarth is coming back, along with the twins and the rumours about Etheridge are true, how much does that leave us for the remaining remaining rider? Would Steve Worrall fit? -

"Owned", sounds like slavery to me. I thought that was illegal. And he is a former Lion. -

I think you're taking my post about Doyle a little too seriously PirateShip. I was just having a bit of fun speculating after Flagrag's post about former Lions returning. I imagine his average would be way too high for him to be considered but who knows? I've no idea about him being owed money except to say that was under the previous regime. -

Well If flagrag is correct, it's more than one former Lion, so could be Richie Worrall and Jason Doyle! Scotty also looking for a championship team. -

Sounds like slavery when riders are classed as assets. -

Flagrag didn't say it was a northern championship club, so it could be Troy Batchelor. Sheffield/Bates connection etc. -

JP would be a great signing, but could also be Jordan Stewart or Josh MacDonald? -

I'll be very surprised if Leicester move up, especially if Premiership race nights remain the same. Saturday is the night for speedway at Leicester. Crowds dropped off when they rode on Mondays - fewer kids in the crowd and the Premiership was a lot stronger then than it is now. -

All very early days as we don't know league make up, points limit etc but would like to see Morris & Douglas back. Kennedy improved as the season went on and did well at some away tracks. I think he will improve further especially if he rides in Australia this winter. Overall, I don't think Andersen was a success and probably not great value for money. I would have Howarth back although if say Pickering was available I'd go for him instead. Other riders I would like to see include either of the Worralls, Nicol, Ruml and Mountain. Probably some are more likely than others. As for the Thompsons, overall they had a very good season, but is there any "rule" which says they both have to ride for Leicester and would it give the manager more flexibility in team building if he didn't have to accommodate both?
