  1. I may have misunderstood the article and the very specific wording but it's my understanding from reading it that Barry (Bishop) and Martin (Widman) will PROMOTE at all 3 NORA League Venues. They will enter in to specific LEASE agreements with Iwade and Plymouth so that they are leasing the Tracks for NORA League and that therefore it avoids any "conflict of interest" for the Iwade and Plymouth BSPL Promotions in being involved in what some may label "breakaway". Ths differs from some other Tracks (Scunthorpe and Redcar) who run NORA but in the true Amateur Training and less formal league sense and presumably no paying crowd but Riders who pay to ride. So, unless the Owners of Buxton and Eastbourne Stadiums as an example are prepared to enter in to a 3rd Party Agreement with Barry and Martin the option would be a non-starter. It makes complete sense to me that having created a Brand and Identity on the IOW that Barry and Martin are 100% committed to ensuring it is maintained in their ventures at Iwade and Plymouth so as not to denegrate or reduce it and that the Owners of Iwade and PLymouth are happy to let them do that in the knowledge that they will get some Rental income from it and two innovative professionals in Barry and Martin to run it. Whether Iwade and Plymouth see this as a backstop or alternative route for their future should British Speedway under BSPL governance continue to fragment is totally up to them but it does give them some scope to consider that. The other interesting comment was that to set up and fulfil the extra work it would appear that Iwade and PLymouth will run NORA on a weekend. No surprise for iwade as they have no lights but it would be very interesting to see if NORA at Plymouth can draw Crowds anywhere near what they get for CL on a Tuesday. Maybe I've misunderstood but that's my interpretation of the article.
  2. No doubting his ability at all. The problem seems to be that a number of Clubs have witness a tendency to go "full strop mode" the minute things don't go his way and a general lack of self confidence meaning he can't cope with adversity. Some young riders mature more quickly than others and in many Sports and in life, it's when you hit tough times that you define yourself. He's been at some very good Clubs with excellent mentors available to him, not in the least in 2022 at Wolves and Poole,s o you have to ask what the answer is if Adams and Middleditch can't find the mental and emotional key. May be a year to reflect on not having a GB place and learning new skills in Poland will be the making of him. Contrast with Brennan, very much is peer and equal at age levels, who has fought injury adversity on the Track and huge personal loss off it and come through it apparently tougher and harder and away from his comfort zone.
  3. Nottingham Nodders Grimsby Gulls Brighton Wokepersons Portsmouth Golden Rivets Solihull Bluerinses
  4. Rumour is he's been tapped up by Poole to head the track rakers on a guarantee of 100 quid a heat and double for a golden heat.
  5. Fair play whoever got Antonio booked. One of the few riders of this millennium with the x factor that guarantees bums on seats.
  6. There's only one Keith Kershaw Brummies and Wolves at various times over many years.
  7. Mentioning one Tory is not an anti Tory rant. I don't disagree many have their noses in the trough. Local Politics should be non party political especially planning and central government should not interfere as much as they do. As for Speedway in Somerset, it sadly looks less than likely now.
  8. I was a Councillor for 15 years as an Independent. If you are saying Politicians at national and local level don't take inducements or favours to facilitate decisions then you clearly live in a parallel universe. It's endemic now just read the papers but as they used to say more dodgy deals done in the Lodges and 19th hole in the UK than in the Kremlin
  9. I'm pretty sure Mike Atkins (Henry's dad) was referred to as well. As a Consultant with Bishop
  10. Absolutely JJ it is ARC Stadium fault. As you'll know its even worse than their food and staff though. The sight of their ARC stadium security making speedway supporters hand in sandwiches and plastic water bottles before entering PB for speedway was an utter disgrace and alienated many.
  11. There are, but the article suggests that the Group have pulled out before seeking to appeal after losing an investor and deciding not to proceed. At Planning stages one or two dissenting voices can certainly obstruct or delay applications if the chairperson decides they have a case. In this case the committee deciding wouldn't have a clue about speedway but the alleged objections raised would give ammunition to the ney says to stop the application. As an ex Councillor I've seen it happen many times.
  12. Unfortunately this is atypical of the power some Councillors hold in some Areas. Typically they will pass anything for a bung equally block anything for a nod and a wink. This is the territory of Rees Mogg and such types. So not wholly surprising. A massive shame if true. As for the speedway names implicated, one name wouldn't surprise me if being spiteful and envious and it wouldn't be Rosco or Godfrey.
  13. Not if you always associate rubbish and shisters with Poole
  14. Best Redcar - overall very good Plymouth - Chicken Curry made by local Indian / Polish sausages cooked by Poles Glasgow - good when I've been Edinburgh - good overall Scunny - decent Poole - decent Berwick - average Birmingham - poor and even worst staff Oxford - dire but they deserve a further chance More recent no longer-: Kent - yuk Eastbourne - yuk Lakeside - very good Somerset - average and very few toilets Others-: Mildenhall - old fish and chip suppliers were the stuff of legend = outstanding Stoke - not bad Buxton - jesus christ...aarrgghh Wolves - pains me to say but very decent Leicester - very good
  15. There's lots of effluent that spills out of Dorset, maybe they could freewheel down the A35. Good at stopping dust... Many a neutral has called Poole a rubbish track already
  16. I've a very vague recollection of going to Crayford when I was really young with my dad and that being about the same size? May be someone could enlighten us on how big Crayford was?
  17. Seen some great action there when the dirt line builds as not too many will use it but when they do its a fantastic spectacle, especially when you stand on the back straight, so close to the action. Track sizes are a moot point as you can see riders spaced out over 200-300 yards on some big tracks when slick so it's personal choice I guess.
  18. It's Rugby League territory so if they can dove tail to avoid that it'll be a great benefit. Let's not forget either the absolute crazy Fixture glut forced on the previous Comets in Autumn 2018 because Mr Godfrey caused mayhem with Friday fixtures so he could get a Guest. 10 to 12 meetings on alternate if possible weeks may be ideal. Will make space too for Training Schools which can be as lucrative for finances as Race Meetings. Good luck to everyone involved.
  19. Maybe he didn't appreciate the silver spoon gateau at The Chateau.
  20. Just been so am sorted for now If oxford have any injuries at top end or if Heeps continues downward spiral they are very vulnerable. Berwick will struggle away and be reliant on Rory and Flint at home. Perm one of those 3 for the final play off spot. Depends on who final rider is and equally of we could slot in one of the currently unused riders like Bailey or Kemp at some point after first Green Sheets allowing scope.
  21. Typical Dingle! Needs to get out more without his cousins
  22. Two more excellent signings for Tigers Butcher has had terrible luck with injuries and just not getting the breaks at the right times and well capable of increasing his average/ Josh Warren has improved immesuarbly year on year after late transition from MX and has hugh financial backing and an excellent mentor in Danny King - could easily be the biggest improver in NDL anywhere!
  23. Knowing the spiteful stadium owners at PB they'd probably disconnect it and move it to another venue.
