  1. Much rather dump Neilson and keep Wright but that would be a real filip to have Kemp and the twins
  2. If Monmore Green isn't available next season Wolves will spend 2024 at Leicester.
  3. Agreed the numbers last night were as bad as I've seen at any time since we moved to CL level in 2019. I think there are speedway reasons, lack of strength in the team, indifference to BSN Cup and KOCCup and the opposition who are a team with a notoriously bad away support. Bigger issue though I think is Cost of Living Crisis. There are simply too many other things to do in a big City with reduced disposable social income, many don't even have that income any more. Those Clubs where Speedway has a higher profile with less other sporting attractions will ride out the storm better than I fear Clubs like Brummies will. Fact of life.
  4. Yep, imagine that top5 supported by Jason Edwards and Henry Atkins at reserve. Riders Gary May ditched in a hurry! Act in haste, repent at leisure!
  5. Having had their Pits phone ripped off the wall by bad tempered Ginger whinger Middle ditch, any truth in the rumour that Mark Phillips is travelling in his Tractor to demolish the Poole Pits.
  6. Hope for Gladiators sake they can have a referee who can see when Lawson tries to fence someone and doesn't award a 5 1 to Poole when a Gladiator clearly wins the race
  7. That explains why Edwardz Kennett has just taken out a Polish License.
  8. You can't market properly what you don't own and have full control of. That's the crux of the problem and has been for decades. How many Tracks are actually OWNED fully or effective decision making by the Promoters / Management of the Club? Glasgow, Redcar; Scunthorpe; Kings Lynn . Excuse me IF I'm wrong but aren't the remainder Owned by Dogs / Stocks / Football / Councils / Covenants etc??.. Most don't even have revenue from basics like Food and Drink. That's a fundamental flaw with the model!
  9. Is there nowhere in the vicinity of Bournemouth Airport which seems to be very underused and a lot of land surrounding it? Just thinking that 2 hours speedway a week for 20 odd weeks could hardly be stopped on noise grounds.
  10. I think Edinburgh have the best idea with some sort of radius block to encourage people living locally to attend. Teams who rent Stadia probably do better as they may lose 2 or 3 in a family for cost of one stream. Teams who make money from food and drink I'd suggests are idiots to stream as they lose that income stream. You never know how many you are losing until you stop it for certain matches. My understanding is that for most matches all BSN net profit is pooled and shared equally amongst CL teams. I was told though that contrary to expectations of most Clubs that last year's Play Off money was shared only amongst play off participants at each stage. That's hearsay though.
  11. I'd really have much preferred 2 home and way in the League to this BSN Cup and it would have made for a much more balanced fixture list
  12. Looks like IOW. Government has offered a big ex Prison Ferry to run from Portland to IOW every Wednesday. They'll give migrants a night out if they buddy up with a Poole fan.
  13. Rider leaves his team literally up s**t creek without a paddle... He could have come to Brum, more miles of Canal than Venice and a lot less smelly.
  14. Do feel sorry for Plymouth Speedway that the local Soccer Team is one of the most progressive outside top 2 tiers and likely to go up to Championship and the Basketball Team doing well too. If footy team do go up likely to sell 20,000 season tickets and have massive local media interest. No idea what Plymouth break even is but hopefully their crowd builds up as it warms up weather wise. I do wonder if Saturdays may work for them in summer months especially with no footy? Also they streamed every meeting last year and is that counter productive and made some walk up support a bit lazy? . A group of 3 adults is 60 quid through gate yet probably a fiver profit from stream. A hundred like that is £1500 from your top line before they've had food and drink every meeting.
  15. Since the days of Charles Ochiltree at Coventry I've always thought you can make a track too perfect that it becomes a motorway. It's also the case that high winds dry tracks out more quickly than hit sun sometimes. It wasn't a good watch but a trackman is pilloried for over watering and pilloried for not watering enough. As for ripped starts, many do it, some more blatantly than others. Having ridden at Leicester both Worrall and Howarth really can't complain about biased ripped starts. On this occasion I don't think Poole did anything wrong.
  16. Disappointing result No lack of effort Some good Racing especially Team Riding from Nick Morris with Bowtell Scunny just had too much and deserved winners. Shame we didn't keep Paco as Neilsen and Proctor dire. Pearson has improved a lot. Entertaining night overall decent Crowd. Hopefully all will be back and bring some friends.
  17. Manchester will always be the 8th biggest City in England by population. Cheating with the "Greater" bit just doesn't cut it lol...
  18. Weather looks dry if a bit chilly so lets hope hundreds wrap up and get down to PB tonight to support Nigel and Laurence and the team. Lets not forget those Tracks that have closed / are closing and that Speedway Racing and entertainment is far more important in the bigger scheme of things than win at all costs and breaking the bank.
  19. Thanks for the update. I have driven down A5 past there many times and its accessibility to Motorway Network always intrigued me. I remember the Long Track at Chasewater and Norton Canes was mentioned a few times as an option when the Dogs ran there and as you say they are either side of the A5, I guess may be Brownhills is the nearest sizable Town or is it closer to Cannock? I suppose you could say its 30 mins away from some decent population areas but also 15 mins away from nowwhere and in the middle of nowhere in terms of the Local Councils (guessing Cannock / Walsall / Lichfield ??)
  20. Wolverhampton race track has Housing that surrounds it. Better chance may be old Chasewater site or old Norton Canes dog track site but they may be developed now too.
  21. Big rivals and not my favourites far from it and an awful track. Desperately sad and devastating nonetheless for Wolves fans, speedway in general and above all Chris Van Stratten. An honourable and decent man who has sport in his blood.
  22. I fear from rumours that there are 3 Clubs in that list that may not be around in 2024. They don't include Workington. A couple due to possible planning / development concerns and one due to disenchantment of promotion.
  23. Wasn't there talk if a track in Southampton a few years back albeit for Training purposes. Not too far away is it?? down the M27
  24. With respect though I think you're still slightly missing the point. If Speedway is told it can't use the Stadium for say 2 weeks solid on a few occasions but can still have access to fit in a full season, that's surely better than no Speedway at all. An Entertainment License may bring in Events that would want security of tenancy for very specific periods and that includes set up and clear up. The case to save Speedway may be that they have to be far more flexible than in the past. If they decamp to IOW, Eastbourne, Ringwood or anywhere else it would be a massive upheaval and surely lose significant supporter base.
