Taken from bspa website: Barker, meanwhile, suffered a recurrence of a scaphoid injury and withdrew after three rides at Sheffield having scored three points, and it is hoped that he will be fit for the Final. Management Committee member David Hoggart said: “Ben and Simon are two riders who, prior to the semi-finals, we would have expected to go safety through. “Circumstances prevented that, and therefore it’s only right that they should take their places in the British Final. “As far as Ben is concerned, he took a nasty knock when he collided with the fence in Heat 1 and tried to continue in the meeting despite being in a lot of pain. He was very brave and we wanted to reward his determination in trying to succeed with a spot in the British Final which he thoroughly deserves.

Cook is a superb choice of guest but so is Doyle for Barker, have the Witches chosen wisely? As for the other match ups- Doyle vs Cook - very even Hawkins vs Aarnio - evens Tungate vs Harrison - Tungate wins but Harrison does like Foxhall Risager vs Howarth - Away win Lanham vs Bach - Away win..... just Ellis vs Morris - Ellis, Morris possibly struggling with tuesdays crashes? Heeps vs Nielsen - Home win, but could be close if Nielsen complete 4 laps this time

With Swedish coverage starting next week, anyone know of any deals out there for a cheaper subscription? Last year I think it was half price for a couple of months with an online code Cheers

Finally it seems the organisers asked the local trackstaff to sort the track. After all they should know best shouldn't they? -

We make up own 1 liners, its more fun! But probably not broadcastable! -
Ok so with a point scoring number 2 we would have won, but some people are never happy are they! Tonight Makinen was beaten away from home by Auty, Howe, Birks and Palm Toft. He then fell in his last heat adding Jorgensen and Bates to the list. Fall though came at a time when Scunthorpe were in a 5-1, but Barker made it a 3-3 in the rerun. So could say he contributed to the 2 points! However just from the Jackal i'll look at Risager's night too. He "beat" Tungate in his 1st heat when teammate retired. And then beat Bates twice for 3-3's.Ok he scored 4 points but beat a 3 point "NL" rider, something that Makinen should and maybe could given the chance...... Up the Witches!

Both the floating camera and the helmet cam are good ideas but not live. By all means use them after the race to show new angles for replays and incidents but during the races makes for a disjointed race imo. -
If more rain was forecast then so be it, but to call off at 7pm when efforts had been made by supporters to travel and some were in the stadium, is wrong IMO. So what if a delay to make the track rideable, which it possibly was anyway, was needed. More and more times meetings are called off for flimsy reasons. No wonder fans are voting with their feet. As for the away team wanting to ride, isn't that always the case?

Last time the Witches rode here it was a 47-43 loss, but they did win in the League Cup 51-41. Risager seems to love the place scoring 30 pts over the 2 meetings, with Heeps 7+2, Lanham 16+2, Tungate 15+2 also doing well. Makinen had 6 rides for Leicester scoring 4+1. Barker obviously knows the place inside out so could be ok. Plymouth were poor last time at home so could we sneek a win? A lot will depend on how fit Heeps is after his t-boning last night.

Just read the updates from tonight and funny how views of proceedings are different depending on track view. Barker and makinen are cause for concern. Barker seems to be making wrong moves on track, needs to stick to inside line early in meeting. Makinen's point was vital in end, seems low on confidence. Tungate went about his business and great pass on Davies. Risager started off superb, only moan is he should be winning heat 14. Lanham seemed to be tiring still possibly having effects from his couple of falls last week. Ellis was superb and rode some excellent 1st corners, another race win this time in heat 14, also paid win in heat 2. Heels also excellent but will be feeling 2nd hand tomorrow after heat 8 crash. For the Rebels Doyle finally dropped points at Foxhall when EF at start line. Quick but looked on edge. Davies looked quick but finished night early after t boning heeps in heat 8 Grajzonek tried all he could to pass in heat 7, thing is it was for 2nd over teammate and nearly let Ellis past! Newman had customary fall. Morris a little below par but only because he only got 2 race wins. Perry scored 4 but only beat a struggling Heeps , rest came from lack of finishers. Nielsen only completed 4 laps out of his 4 races. 3 falls and tape exclusion. Many Witches fans wanted him in side this year but lived up to reputation that he crashes a lot.
