Tactical Substitute Rule - Is It Right?!?
Technik replied to Daniel Smith's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
A rider is only allowed to take a maximum of 7 rides. The ht 14 where the rider is progammed can be filled by the reserve or by the facility of TS if the team is the required points in arrears. I can't see any issues or rules broken -
BIRMINGHAM v IPSWICH Mon 19th May PL2
Technik replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'll take a healthy Ipswich victory 36 - 54. I cant honestly see a man for man match up that the Foxall boy's don't come out on top -
He's impossible to sack. I know his form is shocking and his average is dropping off like a stone. But what if his form suddenly turns & he puts in double figure scores, This guy started as the number 1 would you take the massive risk when you know what he can score against what has happened in the past. He came to Oxford last season as the national champion & looking for a GP spot but so far this season he has been a poor shadow of that rider & as dissapointing as he has been he's impossible to sack.
-
Oxford really need Tungate to get going with the average cutoff next week his average is sure to drop but we all know he is capable of much more than his early season form. Kildermind is another that needs to find some consistency he can win one race looking like a champion Then he wobbles around at the back. These guys need to get into the form they are known for and soon. I expect this to be fairly close but Oxford should come out on top if the above two come to the party

Poole vs Oxford BSN 07/05/25
Technik replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This is the same at every track, very often the home team will "expect" the track to be perfect & suit the set-up they wish to use & if it's not then it's all the track mans fault as he can't produce a track that suits 7 different riders conflicting opinions. The visiting riders will walk the track & the senior riders will advise as to what they believe will work & then adapt their machines to suit the surface. After a short time the home team will catch on. Matt Marson is a martyr how many riders would make their self available for a position where they know is only half a season before they will be released. If he scores 0 or 10 it won't matter June 29 Cairns is in & he will be gone & at the seasons end who will remember that Matt Marson was ever a Poole rider -
Maybe I could have phrased it differently. Last season Jenkins was an Ipswich asset. Ipswich used Dan Thompson as their RS last season, Jenkins was eligeble to be used as RS last season but Ipswich chose to use Thompson in that role. In 2025 Dan Thompson is no longer eligeble to take an RS position so Ipswich had the choice as Jenkins was under an exisiting contract with the club so they have priority. As with Oxford in 2024 both Ashton Boughen & Luke Killeen were eligeble to take the RS position but in 2025 with both still able to take an RS role Killeen was retained by Oxford & Ashton was signed by Kings Lynn as their RS. If my post caused anyone any issues I'm sorry but I thourght it was obvious what my meaning was without an explaination
-
As I understood the selection process the 2024 club that the RS rode for would have the chance to retain them so Jenkins would be first choice to Ipswich, whilst Oxford had a choice between Boughon & Killeen & Ashton only wanted to be where "Bomber" was going to be.
-
It's all to complicated, How can you get new people interested in a model the exisiting fans don't understand or accept. I think it would be better to have a D, C, B & A final that way points positions from top to bottom would be without question.
-
I don't agree with the sprint races & the fact that they offer extra points. Now the qualification as I understand for the Semi finals is from 3rd to 10th with the top two straight to the final. I can't argue with the top two moving to the big race but I think it would be better for a last chance for the next 4. potentially a GP winner could finish on 6 points or even less to get the top points + the sprint race points. FIASCO!!!

I believe Adam used the Godden at the SRBF meeting. He has had a Godden motor for a long while I remember him having it at Swindon whilst he was there

Oxford vs Leicester 21/04/25 PLR1 1pm
Technik replied to IainB's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
On The up side there was 15 races & no dust, dispite the weather there were some good races & until the last couple of races it was really close. yes Oxford have a problem at No1 & they have started with what looks to be a weaker side but the racing at Cowley has been good so unless your a died in the wool Oxford fan then there's enough entertainment for all 3 leagues to run at this track -
Oxford vs Scunthorpe - KO Cup 1st leg - 9/4
Technik replied to Bojangles's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'll go for a narrow victory for the home side. Oxford without a second big hitter & some unknown factors against a Scunthorpe side with much the same but away from home & it's that difference that sways my decision 50 - 40 -
Todays engines rev far to high & just breed throttle jockeys. The days of the highly skilled riders that could use throttle control to make the machine work to its best are sadly lost. It only seems a few years back that we were trying to make an engine rev to 10,000RPM & now they are in excess 0f 18,000RPM & we require a limiter at 13,500 which means nearly 30% of the engines capabilities are unavailable & yet they still rip a tyre to shreds in a couple of races. I think a limiter is a bad choice, it's just something else to go wrong or be by-passed. My opinion is to limit the bore size which will increase the stroke to achieve 500cc & massivly reduce the RPM back to a level where the motor will work efficently at lower revs & provide a much smoother working band for the riders

Len Silver was the man for restricting access. He would wait at the gate & point at the sign that stated 1 rider 1 mechanic 1 guest then he would count the number of spare heads. The rider would know nothing until he got his pay cheque with deductions for extra persons.

I Have a question. I understand there are two leagues & some riders are in both & we should declare which league the selected rider will be in. However is it possible to name the same rider twice & use their average from both clubs

You could also include David Steen, I don't believe there were many riders to represent Zimbabwe. -

I was happy with that. I know the rain was not ideal but the races kept coming & the quick thinking to adjust the schedule kept the flow. It was all finished by 8:15 a very efficient meeting. Credit to all involved on & off the track. Lets hope the SRBF got of to a solid start for the season. -

There is also a young female rider from Germany Patrica "Paddy" Erhart that has links with Nepal she proudly wears the unique national flag on her race suit -
New Helmet Regulations Incoming
Technik replied to Dickie Head's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
This is phase 2 in the FIM homologation. Phase 1 started in 2018 & has a much wider selection but it is only for circuit racing helmets (full face) the next stage is to include helmets for off road events. The current count offers a very small choice but as the year moves on the selection will increase as more manufactures present their products for testing. The regulation will become live in 2026 so there is a long way to go yet -

The pits look very different. The Hams put on a fantastic show every meeting was like the world final. -

To be fair I'm finding that a cashless entry is becoming the norm at many sporting venues. I went to a "100" cricket match, Horse racing & two rugby matches where entry was either on-line booking or card at the entry point so Oxford's system is in keeping with the the progressive era we live in. One place I went for Rugby was a 100% cash free stadium entry, food, Drink & club shop were all card only & no amount of begging would sway them to accept cash -
Eurosport, terrible professionalism.
Technik replied to Odds On's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I agree 100%. live speedway of league meetings is not the best way to help our sport & that a magazine style format would be a better way forward. Along the lines of Match Of The Day with studio pundits showing & talking about the weeks events over a 1.5 hour time programme to show the best races from verious meetings & previewing coming ones -
Eurosport, terrible professionalism.

Over the years Speedway has been transfered from one channel to the next & if you want to watch you need to pay the subscription. I only got Sky sports for the Speedway & once they stopped covering it I stopped paying for sky. In the early stages I felt that our sport was made for TV but now I feel it is so drawn out to suit a 2.5 hour time slot it has lost the meaning of "Speed". I'm sure we all remember the second half races that there is seldom time for at todays events. I don't think TV is helping Speedway at this point & now having to chase after a different channel again. The SGP is good but I can do without the domestic racing I'd rather go along to a track & watch from the terrace & believe my money is going into a speedway club
