Whilst I agree Knudsen has missed more Wednesday nights for Oxford than he has ridden I'd have to say the age difference between him & Thomson would possibly suggest Knudsen is still unable to miss his national league fixtures. With Gusts his situation is slightly complex as he was in Oxfords Premiership squad racing on Thursday night & then was dropped to the Championship side but he had already commited to race on Wednesdays for a Danish club so where a clash occurs the Danes have priority. I see it's a bit messy & agree that the fans are not seeing their riders each week but at least we are all getting to see speedway racing win loose or draw.
  2. I can understand your frustration. However any form of final meeting comes with a massive cost, All riders involved would have to be paid by the promotion then you have the problem of attracting the best riders to bring in the crowd. it's a tough choice but Birmingham speedway has lost enough money all due respect to the promotion but even they have to admit it's just a bridge to far to host a farewell even.
  3. I would agree that if we are to form one league it would be now. So many times the top league has been propped up by clubs that cannot afford top line riders & have to run weaker teams. The introduction of the Rising Star system once again what ever name it has been labeled in the past has again for the most part been a failure. riders like Leon Flint could retire at 35 as a rising star. One league would suit British Speedway I know great servants to the UK like Jason Doyle will no doubt suffer but we must move forward & stop dwelling in the past. Britain can produce great riders but we have to understand the draw of Poland & the FIM events with the rewards they bring. Sport offers a short career with very little to offer after your done. Some clubs may close after this season for one reason or another, We already know Birmingham will not return & there are rumours surrounding many others & most in the top league. There may have to be comprimise as so many riders are racing for more than one club in different leagues so 6 man teams might be the answer. I can't see a North/South split being a good option as we will be at square one again with riders at 2 clubs & the end of season play off would be N v S with 6 guests to cover those racing against their other club
  4. I think this will be closer than you think. I believe it will be a home town win but only 6 points will be the difference
  5. Ht 2 Jack Smiths engine blew up. I don't mean stopped..... The con rod snapped & tried to escape via the carburettor leaving a big hole before sending the piston into the cylinder head. All up an expensive night £5K for a new engine & no points to pay for it
  6. I have seen Middlesborough & Leicester this season with all riders using worn edges with the exception of Cooper Rushen. there were no more crashes than normal & most were just inexperienced errors that would happen weather you have new tyres or old
  7. I have read many post's & listened to many people on how we should or should not look after the NDL level riders. The biggest hurdle is the expense involved & unless your rider is the next big thing then the chances are that they will need to pay for everything. some things the riders use has to be new (fuel, oil) & we can't get away from that but so far as tyres go there is no reason why they could not make the rule for all riders to use worn rear tyre's it's not like there's a shortage of them. Also the NDL match's should only be on a weekend so for all involved no work or school is affected.
  8. Being involved in any sport at a Professional/Semi-Pro level requires a massive commitment & a lot of finance to back it. Often it's not just the competitor but their family & friends that are required to travel & give up time from work & family. But of course it's not just the 5 minutes of racing we see on race night it's the time spent in the workshop or on the road as well as trying to hold down employment with an understanding boss. A lot of people have to spend a lot of time & money to put one motorcycle on the track & sometimes it doesn't matter how good they or we think they will become given the time it just won't add up.
  9. Whilst that is a fact. Other factors have to be considered, It's on a week night, possible work/school commitments, racing elsewhere. This is a chance for these riders to get track time & for the most part it's the same group of riders each week. I can remember when we had second half racing with 3 man teams followed by scratch races all of which were viewed by only a couple of spectators but for those guys out on track it could have been the world final. For many it will be the highest level they achieve some may progress through the leagues & maybe an international star. Everyone has to start somewhere & if Birmingham in their last season can give a starting point to a Champion they should be applauded.
  10. I agree with the fact that he always seems to be alone, But in some ways I think that is of his own making. I have seen him in the pits ear pods in & scrolling on his phone whilst other riders are watching the races & seeing track changes develop. It's one thing to be your own man but you have to be aware of whats going on. This season I believe both his clubs expected him to at least maintain his scores but he has not even been prepared to race, Whilst he is not much more than a novice speedway rider he chose to race for those clubs in March & now he has chosen to stand down, I understand that but fail to grasp why he took to the track & in my opinion didn't make enough effort to race
  11. I once heard a well respected rider say of a youngster " If he was half as good as he thinks he is he would be twice as good as he really is" & I feel this lad falls into that statement.
  12. Whilst I can't disagree with you regards the guest situation, what are the options? Cancel the event until your 7 riders are fit & available or opperate a squad system as the Poles & Swedes do. Neither of these two are better or workable for our requirements. I feel tonights meeting will be a close run affair but with the home team looking stronger in 13 & 15 I think it's to Oxfords advantage but Ht 2 & reserve -V- reserve I favour the Monarchs. Cards on the table I'll go for a 2 point victory but I'm not sure which way!!!
  13. A rider is only allowed to take a maximum of 7 rides. The ht 14 where the rider is progammed can be filled by the reserve or by the facility of TS if the team is the required points in arrears. I can't see any issues or rules broken
  14. I'll take a healthy Ipswich victory 36 - 54. I cant honestly see a man for man match up that the Foxall boy's don't come out on top
  15. He's impossible to sack. I know his form is shocking and his average is dropping off like a stone. But what if his form suddenly turns & he puts in double figure scores, This guy started as the number 1 would you take the massive risk when you know what he can score against what has happened in the past. He came to Oxford last season as the national champion & looking for a GP spot but so far this season he has been a poor shadow of that rider & as dissapointing as he has been he's impossible to sack.
  16. Oxford really need Tungate to get going with the average cutoff next week his average is sure to drop but we all know he is capable of much more than his early season form. Kildermind is another that needs to find some consistency he can win one race looking like a champion Then he wobbles around at the back. These guys need to get into the form they are known for and soon. I expect this to be fairly close but Oxford should come out on top if the above two come to the party

This is the same at every track, very often the home team will "expect" the track to be perfect & suit the set-up they wish to use & if it's not then it's all the track mans fault as he can't produce a track that suits 7 different riders conflicting opinions. The visiting riders will walk the track & the senior riders will advise as to what they believe will work & then adapt their machines to suit the surface. After a short time the home team will catch on. Matt Marson is a martyr how many riders would make their self available for a position where they know is only half a season before they will be released. If he scores 0 or 10 it won't matter June 29 Cairns is in & he will be gone & at the seasons end who will remember that Matt Marson was ever a Poole rider
  18. Maybe I could have phrased it differently. Last season Jenkins was an Ipswich asset. Ipswich used Dan Thompson as their RS last season, Jenkins was eligeble to be used as RS last season but Ipswich chose to use Thompson in that role. In 2025 Dan Thompson is no longer eligeble to take an RS position so Ipswich had the choice as Jenkins was under an exisiting contract with the club so they have priority. As with Oxford in 2024 both Ashton Boughen & Luke Killeen were eligeble to take the RS position but in 2025 with both still able to take an RS role Killeen was retained by Oxford & Ashton was signed by Kings Lynn as their RS. If my post caused anyone any issues I'm sorry but I thourght it was obvious what my meaning was without an explaination
  19. As I understood the selection process the 2024 club that the RS rode for would have the chance to retain them so Jenkins would be first choice to Ipswich, whilst Oxford had a choice between Boughon & Killeen & Ashton only wanted to be where "Bomber" was going to be.
  20. I believe Brennans chain snapped, However if it was a footrest looking from the head on it is Brennan that moves left into Kilderminds path. I can't understand why Oxford didnt use the IRR facility after Wrights crash ruled him out
  21. It's all to complicated, How can you get new people interested in a model the exisiting fans don't understand or accept. I think it would be better to have a D, C, B & A final that way points positions from top to bottom would be without question.
  22. I don't agree with the sprint races & the fact that they offer extra points. Now the qualification as I understand for the Semi finals is from 3rd to 10th with the top two straight to the final. I can't argue with the top two moving to the big race but I think it would be better for a last chance for the next 4. potentially a GP winner could finish on 6 points or even less to get the top points + the sprint race points. FIASCO!!!
  23. I believe Adam used the Godden at the SRBF meeting. He has had a Godden motor for a long while I remember him having it at Swindon whilst he was there
