Wolves v Ipswich Monday May 9th

Not the first time CVS has picked a guest on the strength of 1 meeting. Summed up by him coming out to the tapes in Heat 8 when he wasn't even in it. -
Always remember Keith Kershaw losing patience with Greg Hancock dawdling at the start at Monmore in the early 90s, so promptly marched over and banged his fist against the the handlebar, causing Hancock to jump out of his skin!

Birmingham have spent a lot of money over the winter to improve the track, which admittedly was awful in 2021
-
Very good to see so many clubs paying their respects in different ways. Belle Vue did a brilliant job on Monday with silence followed by applause with commentary played over (believe Birmingham did the same as well), a clearly distraught Porky talking openly about his friendship with Nigel at Monmore, and Kings Lynn placing a pint of Guinness on the start line during their tribute yesterday. Such a shame Oxford decided to have one that lasted seconds and was ruined by Peter York continuing to talk over it
-
Have to say I thought the "tribute" that was done for Nigel Pearson was appalling. It sounded like it lasted ten seconds which York felt he had to yap all the way through.
-
The NHS is in mess. Last thing they need are ambulances being stood next to a speedway track for two hours waiting for someone to fall off.
-
Good grief. Oxford have surely not dusted Peter York off the retirement shelf?!

My support has gone in. Let's get Brandon Stadium back in the right hands

Considering the rain, the rebuilt track held up very well tonight. -

Not much chance of dust. Absolutely throwing it down at Perry Barr right now. UPDATE now stopped and sun peeping out, but track looks very wet -
BERWICK v BIRMINGHAM (Championship) April 2nd 7pm

Commentary isn't brilliant to be fair. A bit too error strewn. Too much adulation of Harris as well for me. -

Very impressed so far even with the teething problems, which is fair enough for the first time. -

Wolves v Brummies (Past & Present) 28th March 2022

Crowd was probably the lowest I've seen st Monmore on opening night. Tbf, even allowing for the local derby element it was not a particularly attractive fixture with Birmingham missing their top three riders anyway. Have to say the track was poor. Looked very dry and dusty -
2022 Regulations - New Super Heat after Draw!!
MattB replied to Roger Jacobs's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Seems like so many other rule changes British Speedway has conjured up over the years. Completely needless and guaranteed to wind the fans up -
Now claiming that having speedway at Brandon isn't fair on the local residents....

It's a horrific situation, and both Laguta and Sayfutdinov are not to blame for whats going on in Ukraine at the moment I don't this is a situation where you can go in half-soaked. If all sport governing bodies are blocking Russians from competing in international sport, then speedway must follow suite.

Its British Speedway. It doesn't do professional.
-
I hadn't spotted that. Does anybody in this sport know what they're doing?!

BOTH professional leagues can confirm agreement has been reached on team building regulations for the 2022 season – and Oxford Cheetahs are back! Promoters have held a general meeting to discuss regulations and the Premiership will build to 39 points for six riders plus a rider from the Rising Star scheme. The Championship will build to 42-points for seven riders. These decisions are official with the traditional AGM no longer in place. Discussions on all aspects of the sport have proved to be extremely productive as clubs look to build on an entertaining but challenging 2021. It can also be confirmed that Oxford will return to the sport at their traditional Cowley Stadium home and will enter the Championship. The door has remained open for both Kent and Birmingham to also enter the Championship if new promoters can be found to take on the clubs and they have until the AGM to do this. The National Development League will stage an AGM soon with more clubs looking to enter than in recent seasons. Rob Godfrey, Chairman of British Speedway Promoters Ltd said: "The members of both the Premiership and Championship have held in-depth discussions over the past few weeks and months. "Riders are starting to be announced by clubs because there is an agreement in place in both leagues regarding team building rules. "We are delighted to welcome Oxford back into the sport at the same time as continuing to support Eastbourne in their hope for a return in 2023. We also hope Kent and Birmingham’s issues can be resolved to bring them to the tapes for 2022. "The 2021 season, particularly towards the end with the wonderful success of the GB national team and the brilliant Grand Final showcased by our broadcast partner Eurosport to a huge audience, underlines that speedway is still very much alive and kicking in this country. Long may it continue."
