  1. Probably local derby you see. Polonia fans need some targets whilst they wait for Torun next season.
  2. But with Hampel pumping his fists against the track. I think NP realised there was no concern over his safety. So was entitled to celebrate someone's error. Thirty thousand football fans celebrate own goals.....but if there was there was incident regarding a clash of heads in the build-up, they would be little cheers.
  3. The previous three winners are Poland I think. We just missed out last year.
  4. A better analogy for foreigners is the hysteria regarding England's national football team and how we won the World Cup in 1966. Many football fans still live in 1966.
  5. There's more Russians than just King Emil at Gorican and I know a couple of Russians were having visa issues. I suspect with them being something of a reborn nation at his level, they didn't have the depth to announce a 12-man squad.
  6. See here - http://www.speedway-league.com/SWCRaceOff.pdf Needs the riders filling in however.
  7. It's more to do with the near fact it's worked it's magic for Super League and the Celtic Crusaders will take a place in the new franchise scheme. Thus doing SL's work for Wales. I suspect 'Murrayfield Magic' will be an attempt to get a Scottish franchise.
  8. The FIM have managed to directly interfere with one of their flagship events in Speedway. There's 2 or 3 Russki lads doing practice lads around Gorican today.
  9. All depends on Poland's line-up for me. Kasprzak and Holta are very patchy at the minute and it seems Jagus will be replaced by Walasek. They are out of form but unless there is a vast improvement in terms of determination we'll have no chance. Sweden surprised me on Monday. I didn't expect Nermark and Ljung to show up so well. Personally I just want a battling performance which may gain some credibility. More Allen-esque on Monday than Richardson-esque.
  10. Unia Leszno recently confirmed it..that the Race-Off and Final will be there for 2009.
  11. Some Dane remarked near us it was the first time he'd seen Bjerre overtake. Normally on the first and second bend on the odd occasion we gated.
  12. But we were poor - no patriotism can hide that. Performances like that deserve criticism regardless how crude it can be. Some people seem to have forgotten who helps the Speedway clubs of the UK keep running. The vast majority of Speedway UK public has stood by through thick and thin and it's never seen the required results. So, it's about time some started to 'knock'.
  13. It was even more disgraceful at the reappearance of Brandon's definition of a child - Under 15's were at concession prices. So if you have child aged 15 or 16 years old, you paid full whack.
  14. £23 quid to watch that tosh - 4 and half of my social hours spent on that. I feel utterly robbed. Why hold it at Brandon and make it that slick? Everyone knows when Brandon's slick is a total gatefest. I thought Stead looked Conference League at times, Allen trying too hard, Harris battled with bike probs and the other two weren't worth a mention. Highlights for me were Iversen, Rymel, Davidsson. Total bore apart from them 3. I said Lynch has the swagger of a Venables charlatan on the presentation - needs to get his head in the rule book. I noticed a nervous exchange between him and Stead post-presentation to me it didn't represent confidence. Why did we have just a stupid running order aswell? We just have too much self-interest in the sport.
  15. But can anyone paint a decent picture of it's 1974 version?
  16. In my experience of these situations, people will just zoom 30 over them anyway. (Cos I had some numpty overtake me the other week when I was doing 20 on these type of roads) Give it a hour or so and all loose chippings will be by the side of the road.
  17. It would be boring bar four or five meetings. You manage the hammering Aussie and Denmark would hand out to the likes of the minor nations. Sweden and GB would struggle for depth as well IMO.
  18. Just adds to the intrigue they manage to still have in post-Soviet times.
  19. At the minute, it doesn't appear to be working.
  20. Going with Wizzair, it would be possible but I suspect you'd have probelms when using Ryanair as their changeovers are so small.
  21. Every major Speedway nation is there apart from one. Have a guess who.
  22. I have to say I disagree there. I have seen some terrible incidents of racism playing cricket and rugby - infact I will go as far to say that when I played Rugby alongside privledged kids, it was rife. I think of possibly ten occasions I have came across racism in a middle class or upper class atmosphere. Over the past twenty years, there has been a development within the working class that people understand British doesn't mean white but I don't think racism is any more common in differing class. It's a digusting problem which ''class'' has no different views on - never more common or less common by a different class. I find more Middle/Upper Class people ignorant of it and possibly less vocal and more sly. Whereas the Working Class have always been at the forefront of everyday British life thus encounting more people with different backgrounds. Every country has it. I am happy my country is open to it and frown upon racism. Sadly even developed countries like France and Spain, even US has major problems in everyday life.
  23. It's hardly PC. The current formation of our league is a British League and they all have British passports.
