British Final 2024
FishersGate replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Sorry still going to have to disagree with you when this is Bewleys 3rd title in a row! Plus it's his home track, so my point still stands. It's like the play off system, when you finish top you are the best team in the land over a longer period. Fact. One day of racing doesn't tell the whole picture. It should be spread out over a few different tracks with the last meeting at Belle Vue. That is in my eyes at true reflection of the best rider in Britian. -

Imagine if it was held at Sheffield every season with Tai riding there, or Lambert at King's Lynn, or even Scott Nicholls at Ipswich. Belle Vue fans would start a riot! -
British Final 2024

I get it's held at Belle Vue of course as it's clearly one of the better venues in the country. It does stop me from going though as it's miles away from me. If they did it as rounds rather than a one off meeting your more likely to get a true British champion. Could be done at Glasgow, Belle Vue, Leicester and Poole. All venues that can hold a decent amount of fans and are all unique in there own way. It also gives fans all across the country to go and watch the final and increase profit and revenue. Imagine being a Poole or Plymouth fan travelling all the way up to Manchester. Just my thoughts though, I highly doubt they will change the venue. Seems like Belle Vue and the BSPA are best buddies -

He moaned a while back that Dan Bewley was too skinny and had a huge advantage on belle Vues track and suggested it be spread it out the whole year at different tracks. -

One thing Richie Worrall is right about is having the british final at different venues. It's too predictable who's going to win.. -
OXFORD V LEICESTER 3RD JUNE 24.
FishersGate replied to gjcone44's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well done to the Oxford promotion for producing a good race track! I wasn't there but heard enough good things about the place last night which is one of the few positives coming out of british speedway. Happy with the bonus point and running the meeting down to a last hear decider. If only our little distant american cousin decided to show up then we may have actually won! God knows who will replace him if he gets replaced at all, I know the owners pushed for him to sign for the club so I think its matter of convincing them as well. -
Ipswich v Leicester KOC 30th May
FishersGate replied to Badge's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Fair play Scott Nicholls. Top class and just a true British speedway legend. As for the Lions, apart from Lawson the rest seem to ride decent one week and absolutely bang average the next. Fricke can only score at home, Douglas has been decent but isn't a true support for Fricke at home. Masters and Becker have been major disappointments and the reserves the less said the better. Mr Dave Hemsley was right when I spoke to him at the start of the season, he thinks this team is rubbish and so far he's right.. -

Speedway updates seems to be down for me. Is there any other way of getting heat by heat updates? It seems ridiculous that we have to rely on that website. PHIL MORRIS SORT IT OUT -
Cook in for Kemp

Leicester v Oxford 27th May

Unfortunately we're stuck with this track as well. The racing was decent last year until Stewart decided to mess around with it AGAIN and take the camber off. Ever since then it hasn't been the same. -
Apart from the tigers and witches it looks like nobody else wants to a play off place at this rate.

He actually said in the pits he wanted a change and Stewart Dickson agreed. It was a joint decision -

Will be watching on thr TV tonight to save some money. Too close to call this one. I do feel if we lose then I could see Stewart being forced to make changes. Hagon is a decent promising rider but he isn't the answer. We need all 5 firing tonight. Going for a last heat decider with Lions just on top. -
Amazing how I posted about how they should just pay what lingren wants and clearly they've listened or read this forum ! Top top top signing. Game changing signing for the league also. Lions, Spires and Stars all getting nervous now..

Really don't know what I would do if I was Stewart, team on paper is excellent but the consistency is terrible. Fricke is up n down like a yo yo, same can be said with masters, becker and kemp. The only riders I think are doing well are Douglas and Lawson. The problem was never going to be solved with a switch at 7. The issues have been Kemp riding like a RS plus some crap performances from the senior riders. I can't see Becker being dropped because I know the owners are good mates with him, Stewart has been wanting Masters in his teams for years and who else would replace Fricke? I'd make a chance at 6 if possible. But again, is he going to drop a rider that he also works with at Berwick? Can't see that happening .

Pathetic from the Lions tonight -
Think il always be a Leicester fan. I really can't see that changing either even if they were to close. It's weird because I've always never liked Coventry , not the speedway club but just the place in general. Harsh I know but when you grow up in a area surrounded by Leicester fans everywhere you can't help but take a disliking to Cov. It's strange though how watching the semi final of the FA cup I never thought I'd come away from that match disappointed Cov lost just because how great the support was! If the Bees opened again, I would go down as I live in Rugby now. So it would be a short drive for me, but I wouldn't be a Bees fan. Just a speedway fan. I don't dislike any rider or team really, I didn't like Poole at the start but now they don't bother me at all. Its weird that I don't like Sheffield now because of the Bates. Don't want them winning anything because how they handled the sale of Leicester.

Because I completely forgot about him lol! Woops

He could have convinced a world star to ride Birmingham for sure. He just didn't want to cough up the money which I understand but his comments about having money to sign Bartosz hasn't helped his stance. Even if a rider like Lingren was really expensive , he could have shaped the team to be entirely different. For example he could saved some money by not signing milk, lammpart etc and signed some other riders like Sedgmen, S Lambert, Jake Allen, etc. The team is poor but not because theyve not got a number 1 but because they signed unproven riders that need time to settle.Pawlicki I still think will come good but he will need time still. 1. Lingren (just pay what he wants) 2. S Lambert or Jake Allen 3. S Worrall 4. Schieln 5. Pawlicki 6. Z Cook 7. L Flint Haven't work out the averages on that but that's a team atleast has a strong base to work from. I reckon those riders could get dialled in at Perry bar win more home meetings.

Sheffield vs Ipswich 13th May
FishersGate replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I've just turned this meeting on as I forgot earlier, I'm only 10 minutes in and who is the is co commentator? He sounds like a nervous wreck! Kelvin Tatum is bang average as well -
It was coming. He isn't good enough for this level and everyone knows that, even Joe himself. I do feel for the lad though, said it before and il say it again the RS system is not fit for purpose simply because there isn't enough of them. If anything, the RS system has made Joe's career worse by lowering his confidence. I don't know much about Hagon, I heard that he's started the season well. Will he get us winning at home? Highly doubt it, the bigger issues we have are the constent tinkering with the track preparation and the form of Kemp, Becker and Masters last night. Good luck to Joe I really hope his smashes the championship and proves us all wrong one day. And welcome Sam. Good luck!
