Newcastle v Leicester 12th June 2022
FromBendThree replied to justathought's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Newcastle will bankrupt opponents. Leicester bosses must be weeping at how much this 4 points has cost -
Glasgow v Scunthorpe 12th June 2023

There needs to be a cut-off time for a meeting to get started: suggest if delay is more than an hour the match is postponed. Last year I stood around at Kings Lynn watching Buster relay the track but the riders still said no. -
27/28 May - Scunny v Leicester KOC

When the elderly fall in the street and lay in the cold for many hours, as has been reported on many occasions, waiting for an ambulance to take them to hospital, Speedway promoters cannot expect an NHS ambulance to turn up in minutes, especially when the rider’s life is not in danger and he is under medical supervision. There is no longer a county ambulance service. It is regional and run by the NHS. -
I have done some research on the writer of the Speedway Star Plymouth Centurions preview where it was mentioned that Eastbourne and Workington were for the NDL is 2023. He has authored a book on Cradley, it appears, and has worked with Nigel Pearson who leads on PR for the BSPL. Maybe Eagles NDL is just gossip in some circles, or people are making an assumption having seen that Eastbourne failed in 2021 in the Championship.

Taken aback to read in the Speedway Star that it would be National Development League speedway for Eastbourne, if they return next year. It was said in the Plymouth (NDL) preview piece (slow reader here!) by reporter Neil (?) Skelding who mentioned Workington in the same breath. Have to say I was hoping for Championship as the current NDL is a far cry from the league the Eagles won in 2018 but if it is NDL or nothing, I suppose, many will say OK, NDL it is. It may, of course, be the BSPL saying you have to start at the bottom when you come back. That's what happens in football where if you go out of business you cannot come back to the league you were in. Hopefully, the Eastbourne consortium spokesman on here can shed some light on this as to whether this is just newspaper talk or has some fact.

King's Lynn v Ipswich. League Cup 7/4/22
FromBendThree replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Good call in my view. Attedance would have poor. I had this one marked down to attend but I would not have put a wheel on the M11 with the forecast as it is. -
In the club's early days, the Stars were there just to make up the numbers. That was the view of the promoters of the big clubs.

Thanks and I understand the nuance of the situation.

Thanks very much and the bring a coat tip--reminds me of my times at the much missed Lakeside.
-
From what I read, it seems Poland would lift its restrictions but UK would no longer have any protected nights = riders would need to ride in Poland even if it clashed with a UK match.
-
I am thinking of popping over the bridge to see the Lakeside lads later in month. Is there plenty of parking at Iwade? Any tips from people who have been in the past? TIA
-
I can remember when Eastbourne Eagles used to get a couple of thousand but then that was a fair while ago.
-
I can understand how you feel. Flicking through the Star again this morning, I can see other 'Eastbourne riders' picked out. This must really heighten the sadness down on the south coast. Hope you are back in 2023 but speedway will need a sort out if there are to be enough riders to go round. Where would Oxofrd have been this year in the Eagles and Kent Kings had run?

Speedway Star has Tom Brennan as the one to watch - both for Belle Vue and Glasgow. Just shows what poor old Eastbourne fans are missing. Now he's gone to Glasgow.

Saw this morning that all tickets gone for Oxford opener. Fabulous news. Obviously will some there for the occasion and wont be regulars but hope they can keep a big proportion of them. Off to a good start and hoping they have a great night. I've missed out! -
Ipswich Vs Kings Lynn Thurs March 31st LC
FromBendThree replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
There was a Good Friday when some of Leicester team couldn't get to King's Lynn because of snow blocking the A47, I've read. It gave Mike Lee a chance which he grabbed with both hands. -
Hadn't realised he had missed those. Was it Covid?

From what?

I was happy to pay the prices for Lewis Kerr meeting. Programme was much better than what King's Lynn did last year for league matches which was poor by any standards. I saw that it came near bottom of the Speedway Star programme of the year awards which was no surprise. £2.50 for a cup of tea - teabag and hot water + splash of milk - at the AFA is far too much. Heading towards Costa's prices

You could always borrow some from Buster. He has a fleet of tractors, trailers and other kit parked out the back but then he might need them. Stox on Saturday night, speedway on Sunday afternoon was a superb turn around for Lewis Kerr testimonial.

Looks like another bill for any new promotion. It keeps adding up.
