Ablitt never won a race at Poole don't know if he won any last year but with a weaker league would he not and he has had a couple of seasons now in this division be a good bet against some of this year's reserves or is he a rider who is just good at NDL standard.
-
Maybe he sounded out Poole first not to say he didn't send to all and why wouldn't any rider who is looking to win trophies when you have been let go by your current employers and assume Matt and Dan must get loads of requests from riders looking to ride for the (big boys ) only kidding but was he not a heat leader at Glasgow then 2nd string when the 5pt new pole came in ( excellent bit of recruitment though ) now with a weaker league I have the feeling Glasgow have as they say scored an own goal by letting him go.May not have done well at Wimborne Road recently but riding there every week with rocket man in the same pit could be a master stroke by the Ford's who like the postman always deliver
-
I think the Thompson twins made better records than points in speedway no only kidding but I may be wrong but they have hardly set the world on fire with all the hype on here but hope they get fixed up for next season but not at Poole.
-
Judging on last season league position's then he's only good against Plymouth, no only kidding I'm in no position to comment on other teams I don't know that well all I hope and I've said this many times is hopefully and next season with 38 points to play with it could be a closer league ie; top 35 and bottom 4pts wont be repeated and every team will be competitive which I know Poole will be as always.
-
Read loads of posts regarding points limit etc but clearly teams ride in this league based on money to run that's why there is two leagues, having watched Darcy,Holder,Magic ride at Poole the goalposts have now changed and much as I would like Poole to have these riders it isn't possible with the points limit and it's this limit for a reason cost, so while I couldn't at first understand why the points limit is lower I now realise why it's a league below. On the other hand if what I read on here Glasgow promotion are not short of a few quid and maybe Poole being well supported are comfortable and they choose this league why do we both not go up, well Wednesday issue for us I suppose, when Birmingham who must have won the lottery based on last year and Oxford running two teams go premier who knows but we both have a team unlike many who sadly have folded
-
Thanks Mike for your reply, if he lost that amount of money that's massive and you need to be rich to continue will he won't he well we'll soon find out. As for Poole getting it right I wish all clubs would maybe it's money or the pull of riding for Poole, always had good support because it's a speedway town always has been.
-
I suppose it's a question of can the promoters afford to run next season.Mike 0310 do they own the track if so that's half the battle let's hope they do run, a lower points limit will dilute the quality but may make it affordable to promoters and keep tracks running.
-
If he has he must be over the moon even with my Poole hat on it must be what a lot of riders aspire to riding for Poole, maybe the reason Anders Rowe was not kept on for next year, but with four presumably heat leaders which Tom would be ( no Russians around ) leaves the bottom end not so strong (if you are right ) but what do I know I'm sure the Ford's have some surprises lined up and aside from that up the road Arena Essex landowners have given up plans to build houses and sold the site Thurrock Hammers Limited all over it and hoping to bring back speedway.
-
Just another point who has suddenly become available to let go Anders Rowe ?
-
Don't follow speedway in Poland so can you shed some light on these two please.
-
Many different opinions but at the end of the day it's another meeting fans can attend may or may not be a proper trophy at stake but a final chance to see speedway this season enjoy it while you can.
-
Lots of excellent points made to my initial question and the first point in your post has given me a different view to my thoughts on why reduce the points limit.Poole could run in the top league big enough crowd,Wednesday an issue but chose to drop down to save money I believe so as you say certain controls are part of the deal however as another point made all teams build to the same total so all a bit baffling.
-
Maybe a silly question but why is the points limit as has been mentioned coming down surely it's better to go up and allow better teams to be built don't the promoters run speedway or am I deluded

Poole speedway book of condolence
Essex replied to Trackrat's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
What an excellent statement you have made in reply to this person who clearly is not a speedway fan just someone who likes making random comments about Poole mainly derogatory because his or her team and do we know who he or she supports are not as successful as Poole. -
I guess Glasgow owners wanted to win desperately and saw this Russian chap as the golden ticket, agreed he didn't win it on his own but allowed Brennan to go at 2 making their 1 & 2 very strong and by all accounts they are quite rich no idea what they do but it allowed them to pay his wages which I assume we're quite substantial.Still they won and to be fair some of their riders were quick away from the start which looked like a bucket of slop on the live feed.We move on and we've still got a trophy and one more final to go.We made 3 finals this year still lots to celebrate and I'm sure the Ford's will build a good side next season I just hope all the other teams do.

Let's hope the Monarchs are still at the tapes next year and not another track to fall by the wayside.Assume Pickering has been tapped up by another team and can't blame him if it's a club who may be near the top and winning trophies although when I mentioned this is the aim for riders earlier this season was shot down by certain contributors on here, still as a Poole fan I don't think he's heading for Wimborne Road.Lawson is nailed on to be here next year and assume Worrall is although someone said he's going back up north next year if that was the case Pickering maybe or an alternative would be Ryan Douglas flies around our track could he resist the lure of Poole or am I deluded you decide.

REDCAR V GLASGOW (CAB DIRECT CHAMP P/O) 27/9/ 23
Essex replied to SharpenRake's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
No secret at Poole they just build winning sides every year and as I have said many times I wish all teams could do the same your often on here clearly a fan why do you think Poole always get it right and other clubs don't is it money because of it was surely Glasgow would win only going on comments on here. -
Poole v Edinburgh Weds 27/09/23
Essex replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Who gets the first leg of the final ? -
Absolutely I'm sure the Ford's were on it if we were in need of a change something about it isn't right but rules are rules so good on Glasgow for getting it done at whatever cost.Never heard of the chap myself but can he ride other play off tracks only time will tell but certainly makes you stronger well done to the owners or whoever was on the ball to sign him.
-
I imagine the Ford's and the senior riders have already decided who we play good to finish top though after building a new side this year is it money that makes us build good teams well I suppose of it was by all accounts Glasgow would be top or just the Ford's knowledge and the chance to ride at Poole.
-
Well I suppose there is no chance of Poole picking Oxford or Glasgow let them two play each other as regards to this Tarasenko chap what a good bit of business that could be straight out of Matt Ford's cunning plans not sure he ever got a premier rider on a 5 average but we'll done Glasgow but can be ride Oxford and Wimborne Road time will tell.
-
I thought this was a fan site for some honest and light hearted fun but clearly your comments and many other relating to Poole are not.I have said before I wish all teams were equal and any team could win the title and I still wish that could happen but after all the nasty and negative comments on here regarding Poole I hope we win the the title for the third year running

Poole v Glasgow 23/8/23 Championship
Essex replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Don't label all Poole fans as numbskulls I certainly aint one.Supported Poole all my life just because they win a lot of trophies makes people envious.I would love to have all teams equal and all having a chance of winning the league but that ain't possible I wish it was.How lop sided this league has been this year 4 teams cast adrift that's no good for the long term speedway. No clowns at Wimborne Road if all clubs had owners like the Ford's how exciting the league would be just remind me when did Ipswich win a league title yes 1998.The way teams are folding with Peterborough and Wolverhampton closing we'll be lucky to have a league next year let's hope we have and as for digging people out like you have and I don't know you and you may be a nice person just remember and I may be wrong but didn't Starman has some serious health issues be lucky you don't walk in their shoes or maybe you have -
Edinburgh Vs Poole 4th August
Essex replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If Poole are on first or second I don't think it will make any difference to the result Poole are like Casey Jones and the Cannonball Express for anyone who's old enough to remember there's no stopping them now well had a few San miguels ,love them or hate them and why would you the Ford's know how to build a winning team be honest would you not have wanted them to rock up your team years ago I will be honest I don't want Poole to be as has been said a gaters track and it was not years ago when Fossengen,Eide,Preston (remember them ) etc were doing there stuff but reading the comments there was loads of passing v Redcar so summing up who knows who will be top probably Poole after Edinburgh meeting after that who knows just so long as the final whoever we play (only kidding) is a good fitting end to the season
