  1. Only three Liverpool riders (Craven 11; Subritsky 7 Morton 3) score at Poole in a 51 -21 defeat in September 1960. Only 12 heats raced in the first PL season though seven riders in both sides.
  2. Without looking it up, it happened a couple of times at Peterborough in the 80s.
  3. Doubt the league are too bothered about it. You need to be at every meeting covered by a season ticket to come out marginally ahead, so its a minor benefit but one that doesn't happen every year.
  4. Would have said it's due to us not making the semis in either the BSN or the KO Cup but these ties haven't been raced yet. Indeed I don't think the dates have even been agreed. May be the full KO Cup draw - like the tennis at Wimbledon where the path to the final is known - should be made ahead of the league fixtures being drawn up and integrated into them.
  5. It's a big ask for Pijper, Pearson and Starke to hit the ground running this weekend as their last meeting was about three w weeks ago.
  6. Glasgow gave the same discount after their meeting with Berwick which also got abandoned after heat six. While this is in line with the standard BSPL terms and conditions, it's derisory and badly needs updating/ upgrading.
  7. Might Claus be one of the Bandits guests? Would seem to be a good choice.
  8. It becomes 5.18 (5.44 at home) from July....or replace him with a 5.00 signing.
  9. Just about unbeatable around Shielfield and his overall average suffered from bike troubles at Nelson where he scored 1 from 3 rides.
  10. Thanks. Not as impressive as I first thought.
  11. I think my views were coloured by him having rare heat wins at both Sunderland and West Ham, the latter in 1968.
  12. Anyone remember Bill riding at their tracks - in particular at Sunderland and West Ham, two tracks where he scored well? https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/june-2024/the-eldest-mcmillan
  13. Don't know if this is unique but Glasgow only had three riders who scored points in their PL meeting at Newcastle in 1964. No one was injured and all riders completed the meeting which ran it's full course. Anyone remember anything to equal it? Full details are in the final section of this page at https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/june-2024/twas-60-years-ago-unusual-race-formula
  14. Remember the night four Russians had a staggering nine rides each at The Firs? Has any rider ever had more races in a meeting? https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/june-2024/twas-60-years-ago-unusual-race-formula
  15. Leo Ramm had second half rides at Glasgow,, Edinburgh and Cowdenbeath in 1965 and I believe was subsequently a taxi driver in Edinburgh.

  17. £16 and £2.50 for a reduced size programme. Unless the riders were on NDL sized rates, the meeting must have made a sizeable loss. Not sure who has to absorb it.
  18. The problem seems to have been arranging semi finals for the KO Cup and BSN against Wednesday night Oxford and Poole, rather than rain offs. Not a problem we're going to have this year!
  19. Shock horror! Do you mean Cami Brown doesn't pick the team!
  20. Bailey's 2024 GSA figure is 4.50 while the Rolling Average, heavily weighted by 2023 meetings is over five.
  21. Friday June 7 perhaps, though Redcar have an NDL meeting that night so might not want to come then.
  22. From memory we signed our team quite early, suggesting these were the guys we wanted. Perhaps too early for Brennan. Throw in a strange decision not to have Danes this year and a couple of doubtful choices and you end up with a pretty poor team. Worrall might have been signed as he was perceived as a Poole specialist; Flint was a shot in the dark while Starke was signed for old times sake. A strong top two -second only to Oxford if based on averages- and high averaged reserves, squeezed the middle and left little scope for manoeuvre. Thank goodness for James P.
