  1. Max James still to be signed by a Championship side but possibly joining his Leicester boss at Berwick?

  4. Quote from CB in this week's Speedway Star "Success in sport is only measured in silverware. I totally get that and I'm a winner like the Facennas". Really? During his tenure we've never topped the league and only won the play offs once. Even then it was down to Nowak jumping ship and being replaced by Tarasenko. Not sure if the KO Cup win in 2016 was in Stewart Dickson's time.
  5. Any recent examples of "getting better tactically" Remember he was lucky that Pijper was excluded in the play off semi against Oxford AND was unable to take part in the re-run which meant Complin needed to come out... And won us the meeting!
  6. It's away from home that the reserves will struggle, having to take at least seven rides between them. Max Perry scored just one point in ten rides for Poole ... And it was by beating Freddy Hodder at Berwick! Is he going to be another Luke Chessell? We should have gone for a better balanced team rather than the top heavy top five.
  7. Some riders who just retired too soon, a few possibly due to injuries https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/november-2024/retired-too-soon-part-3
  8. Fifty years ago I got a Christmas card from Barry Briggs presumably because I'd bought one of his anoraks earlier in the year. I put it on display ever year but somehow it got lost. Is this the card I got or is it a more modern one. Anybody know? https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/december-2024
  9. Dont see why not. No team can have riders with averages of less than 2.00 so by definition this pair must be among the lowest / weakest in the league. Bear in mind neither actually achieved 2.00 and they were particularly weak away from home.
  10. Will the 3/4 pairing be a powerhouse or will they stifle each other? Could go either way. Would Pearson and Smith instead of Howarth and Perry give a better balanced side. Perhaps but guess it's too late now.
  11. A look at teams who used another's track to bridge a gap, including Berwick at Blantyre, Glasgow at Workington and Edinburgh at Shaw field, and a few others too. https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/november-2024/moving-home

  14. Read about fire raising in Glasgow on dark nights in the late 60s and how it impacted on Scottish Speedway, https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/october-2024/fire-fire-fire
  15. The last meeting at The Firs In 1964, still lamented. https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/october-2024/norwich-s-last-meeting
  16. We've got the NDL tail wagging the Championship dog. NDL teams shouldn't expect to race on the parent clubs race night unless the parent club is racing away that night. Similarly to have 2H and 2A, the principle of race night seniority needs to be revisited and changed such the senior club gets priority on the first meeting but not on the second meeting. All clubs will need to accept that they will have to race on their alternative racenight during the season.
  17. This month's edition will feature October Obituaries - Malcolm Brown, Tony Swales and Laurie Etheridge Sixty Years Ago- Norwich's last meeting Oyvind Berg - Hampdens Most Loved 🐅 Fire! Fire! Fire! - how the goings on in dark nights in the winter of 1968 changed Scottish Speedway Big Birthdays - who is celebrating this month? Anyone Remember Number 23 - our monthly test of your recall skills. classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/
  18. Is there a general procedure to confirm guests are eligible for league meetings or does the referee just check on the night. There seems to be no procedure to let teams know a rider has already guested in a semi Final and is ineligible
  19. Dont think the Premiership back up this notion. Ask Birmingham about Milik, Lampart and Pawlicki and Oxford about Jankowski. While Workington's Vuolas and Zischke did well, Liebmann didn't and ask Glasgow fans what they think about Ivacic and you won't get a positive response.
  20. Prepare to feel gutted. According to our latest epistle we spent the last month or so resetting - isn't reset a crime?- but seem to have reduced Rowe's average by well over a point only for another teams to benefit from this. Another of this season's masterstrokes!
  21. With the training track being laid this winter and operational next year we need to consider where these riders will go to further their development. Will we have an NDL side of our own? Certainly not next year but in the longer term we need one. There were enough blank weeks this year to slot in the half dozen NDL meetings so that isn't really a problem. Would ask Colin Mackie to be team manager. He has experience at this level.
  22. A more interesting read would be brown-admits-messed-up- team-selection-for-24
  23. Might appeal to promoters as it gives them the upper hand in negotiations over terms! Didn't this happen some years ago when the top league introduced a 1 GP riders per team limit?
  24. Are you sure Cami makes these kind of decisions? He's a volunteer and they are way above his pay grade.
