  1. Again! although the last time our meeting was at Edinburgh on the Friday.
  2. https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/january-2025/not-a-young-mans-game-in-scotland-in-the-1960s Very few teenagers riding for teams in the 60s. Not until the Second Division started up with youngsters like Jessup and Thomas going a team place. Whatever became of Tony George?
  3. July 11 is the earliest free Friday for both teams
  4. BSPL website shows Friday May 30 as being Edinburgh v Glasgow (Provisional). There is no reference anywhere to a date for the Glasgow v Edinburgh tie
  5. And only a couple of free Fridays for KO Cup and BSN progression, never mind rain offs. Right now there seems to be no date for our home leg of the cup tie against Edinburgh, should they beat Workington.
  6. It was Bo Josefsson, Faafeng's replacement, that was the innocent party involved in the Hunter crash.
  7. While we all have find memories of The Internationale at Wimbledon do we know why it was instigated and how the first running was a far more extensive affair, Read about it in https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/january-2025/the-1961-internationale
  8. Anyone remember these Norsemen who only rode for a short time in the BL. Possibly others too https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/january-2025/norwegian-yearlings
  9. classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/ This edition will feature Those We Lost in 2024 - remembering those who passed last year Norwegian Yearlings - Norwegian riders whose stay was brief Not a Young Man's Game in the 1960s - a look at riders debuts The 1961 Internationale - how this Classic was first run Personal Profiles from the Past No 1 - a new series classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/
  10. More likely that a Wednesday racenights simplifies things for racing in Poland.
  11. Anyone know where this is likely to be found? Possibly need to trawl through programmes and find out the last year the mandatory notice was included in programmes, probably about 20 years ago.
  12. And Ake Andersson , the consequential replacement for Charlie Monk.
  13. It's not solid, it's a strong top five and a weak pair of reserves. It lacks a bit of balance. Will Flint and Thompson be a powerhouse pairing or will they stifle each other to some degree - scoring say 8 and 5+3. The reserves will be key to success or otherwise. While Perry didn't see too much action in 2024, Hodder was a virtual ever present for both Berwick and Belle Vue NDL so the more laps notion isn't a given. He was excellent when guesting for Tigers in their final meeting but his away form for Berwick saw him score just 9 points from 29 rides. Perry only scored one away point in 10 rides - beating Hodder at Berwick.
  14. Will Hook be back or is he off elsewhere, Edinburgh perhaps?
  15. Max James still to be signed by a Championship side but possibly joining his Leicester boss at Berwick?
  16. https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/december-2024/going-back-in-time-december-1964
  17. This edition will feature MERRY CHRISTMAS - your Christmas card from Classic Speedway Going Back In Time To December 1964 - the Shawcross report Olle Nygren in Scotland - the Swede's time north of the border Cuckoo's Nest - teams squatting at your track Have Bike Will Travel for a Team Place - distant debuts Big Birthdays - who is celebrating this month? Anyone Remember Number 25 - our monthly test of your recall skills https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk
  18. Quote from CB in this week's Speedway Star "Success in sport is only measured in silverware. I totally get that and I'm a winner like the Facennas". Really? During his tenure we've never topped the league and only won the play offs once. Even then it was down to Nowak jumping ship and being replaced by Tarasenko. Not sure if the KO Cup win in 2016 was in Stewart Dickson's time.
  19. Any recent examples of "getting better tactically" Remember he was lucky that Pijper was excluded in the play off semi against Oxford AND was unable to take part in the re-run which meant Complin needed to come out... And won us the meeting!
  20. It's away from home that the reserves will struggle, having to take at least seven rides between them. Max Perry scored just one point in ten rides for Poole ... And it was by beating Freddy Hodder at Berwick! Is he going to be another Luke Chessell? We should have gone for a better balanced team rather than the top heavy top five.
  21. Some riders who just retired too soon, a few possibly due to injuries https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/november-2024/retired-too-soon-part-3
  22. Fifty years ago I got a Christmas card from Barry Briggs presumably because I'd bought one of his anoraks earlier in the year. I put it on display ever year but somehow it got lost. Is this the card I got or is it a more modern one. Anybody know? https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/december-2024
