Oxford Spires v Birmingham Brummies 26/6/25 19:30
StarBoy replied to NumberEight's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Comfortable Oxford win, with Musielak and Zagar putting up some resistance to make the scoreline somewhat respectable. 52-38. -
When Sheffield presumably asked the season had just started, so no surprise they didn’t get any takers. You can understand why no one wants to touch Oxford and Birmingham, with both having no Prem team next season. I think now might be the right time where you can twist someone’s arm. We’re over halfway through the GP calendar, people will have capacity in their diaries for the UK - if someone chucks enough at it.
-
Exactly that. If we want to make the play-offs we need to be ruthless now and make that decision. We have 11 meetings left, with only Ipswich and Leicester away the only difficult meetings. We could win 9-10 of our remaining fixtures and pickup 25 points along the way, which should see us comfortably in the play-offs. We’ve never had a better chance of getting to the play-offs than this year, so we need to go all out and get the No. 1 we desperately need.

The Stars now have the perfect opportunity to make a change in the team and be ruthless if they want to make an end of season play-off push. Lawson could be replaced by an 8.00 rider and still come under the 40-point limit without a second change being required. Im not saying it’s even remotely realistic, but if Rob has any play-off ambitions then we need an out-and-out No. 1 to try and mitigate what happened on Thursday and last night. In our 8 away meetings this season, we have conceded 5-1’s in 6/8 heat 13’s and 5/8 in heat 15…

As always the top end firepower is Lynn’s downfall, especially away from home. In Lynn’s 8 away meetings this year they have conceded 5-1’s in 6/8 heat 13’s and 5/8 in heat 15’s. The last 2 meetings have proved having someone that can just split the Top 4’s 1&2 will convert these narrow last-heat decider losses into wins.

Lots of uncertainty going into this one - will Kurtz ride? Is Bewley fit enough to ride? Will Kvech be ok to take his place at reserve? Will we see the return of B Cook as promised by Rob Lyon? If the aces are down a man and Lynn are at full strength, then I can see the Stars nicking a win. However, Brady has no excuse to not ride on Monday now, so should be a comfortable win for the Aces. 52-38. Aces 1. Bewley - 14 (5) 2. Blodorn - 5 (4) 3. Lidsey - 10 (5) 4. Z Cook - 7 (4) 5. Kurtz - 11 (4) 6. Zischke - 3 (4) 7. Mulford - 2 (4) Total - 52 Stars 1. Lawson - 5 (4) 2. Klindt - 6 (4) 3. Iversen - 3 (3) 4. B Cook - 6 (4) 5. Harris - 7 (5) 6. Kvech - 10 (7) 7. Scott / Harrison - 1 (3) Total - 38

I’ve never been concerned about Jan’s commitment to Lynn. He got injured when Tungate forced him in the fence away at Oxford and still continued with the meeting, participated in both Manchester GP’s and lined up for Lynn on Monday against Ipswich. If he rides today for Torun, he’ll ride tomorrow at Belle Vue.

Turnbull’s at it again. How can she classified as an international level official? You wouldn’t even expect to see that poor of decision in the NDL… -
Kvech on fire tonight in the GP. Has he got new equipment? Looking unstoppable this last week…

And Pickering, even though he couldn’t be bothered to turn up on Thursday…

Sheffield v King's Lynn 19/6/25
StarBoy replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
My point is that you would expect Peterborough to be better supported than King’s Lynn and that was the case. Obviously, there’s some cynics out there who expected Buster to take the money made of Peterborough and invest it in his baby King’s Lynn, but that wasn’t what happened. Peterborough had a much stronger team than Lynn at the start of the season (with Nicki P in the 1-7) and at the end of the season (with Laguta and Tarasenko in the 1-7). -
Sheffield v King's Lynn 19/6/25
StarBoy replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It is a much bigger catchment area, as with all the teams compared to King’s Lynn. You only have to look at the populations of the town/cities of the current Premiership teams and see that realistically Lynn should be the least supported (which naturally should equate to less financial strength and less success on track) King’s Lynn - 43,000 Ipswich - 140,000 Oxford - 162,000 Leicester - 368,000 Sheffield - 556,000 Manchester - 568,000 Birmingham - 1,100,000 -

I’m sure we’ll be down by 6 or more at some point and will use a tactical instead of Harrison. Kvech will definitely be taking 7 though. Unfortunately, I think we will lose, but will be a lot closer than last time with R/R for Pickering and a less than 100% Rowe. 50-40 Sheffield 1. J Holder - 13 (5) 2. A Rowe - 7 (5) 3. R/R 4. L Kerr - 5 (5) 5. C Holder - 14 (6) 6. J Sedgmen - 4 (3) 7. L Flint - 7 (6) Total - 50 King’s Lynn 1. R Lawson - 8 (5) 2. N Klindt - 7 (5) 3. C Harris - 9 (5) 4. R/R 5. N K Iversen - 5 (4) 6. J Kvech - 10 (7) 7. L Harrison - 1 (3) Total - 40 -
James Pearson? Tolley did say a former Brummie…

If there was a track to come back in at you couldn’t have asked for a better one, and should readapt him nicely to racing back in the UK.

What another fantastic night of speedway at the Norfolk Arena for the Stars. Really didn’t have high hopes going into the meeting, and was expecting Ipswich to never get out of second gear and still win comfortably. How I was proved wrong. It great to see some atmosphere, and Lynn fans giving Witches fans some stick as they swiftly tried to exit after heat 14.
-
Let’s see if they apply the same pressure with Pickering. If not, then the common denominator is King’s Lynn…
-
Not sure if it’s still a thing, but does he not need to ride in the UK to maintain his visa status? I’m sure it been mentioned that he’s living in Poole with Middleditch and to continue doing that he has to have a UK based job. Obviously at the minute being declared injured is bypassing that, but when he is fully fit surely he has to be riding for a UK club? Will be interesting to see what the situation with Pickering will be after he crashed today. Will Leszno put the squeeze on him as well, and play the game with Sheffield?

Going to be a lot tougher than the KO cup meeting a couple of weeks ago. As said above, even a not 100% Doyle will still probably get around 8, which should swing the meeting in the Witches favour. 43-47. Stars 1. Lawson - 7 (4) 2. P Kildemand - 2 (3) 3. N Klindt - 5 (4) 4. C Harris - 9 (5) 5. N K Iversen - 6 (4) 6. J Kvech - 14 (7) 7. J Scott - 0 (3) Total - 43 Witches 1. Sayfutdinov - 11 (5) 2. D King - 8 (4) 3. A Ellis - 4 (4) 4. T Brennan - 9 (5) 5. J Doyle - 8 (4) 6. C Mountain - 2 (4) 7. J Jenkins - 5 (4) Total - 47
