Currently is it more lucrative to be in the premiership or championship? I just feel like we're getting to a point where the only teams making a profit are those at the higher end of the championship!

I know the Polish press are not the most trustworthy source but a little uninspiring if true. King could be replaced with a grand Prix level rider for a similar average. I guess maybe we can hope we get Kowolik and Rushen at U21 reserve?

If the Premiership had: - A genuine step up in rider level - A larger prize pot - A larger away following from fans Poole would move up.

One thing to consider is that many of the U21s riding in the Ekstraliga in previous years would have come in on very high assessed averages for an inexperienced rider. - 24 of the 33 riders who raced any meetings as an U21 this season in Poland would get an average of 6.00 or higher - The likes of Paluch, Bednar and Parnitskyi would come on over 7.50 averages. Maybe U21 riders did want to come over but British promoters did not want them as their averages were way too high to justify it. With the new U21 system and no average to worry about it might change things.

While Bewley's comments are maybe a little over the top I do agree that it is a bit ridiculous. If we want the top British riders coming over here we should probably improve the product first to tempt them. Lambert is in a very difficult position now he has to ride in the UK put probably wanted to stay with his wife and new child in Poland a bit more this season. Putting the new British world champion is this situation is really stupid.

So maybe the Poland + 1 league was not happening after all? This is good for the UK and Denmark, if riders remain unhappy with the Swedish tyre rules many may gravitate to UK + Denmark. U21 rule I also like it will force teams to develop riders. It also will bring 7 likely completely new international U21 riders to the UK which may help widen the gap between Premership and Championship as I don't see those riders doubling up. To be fair if the Swedish tyre deal means Polish riders (and Lambert) no longer want to ride in Sweden they could look to the UK instead. If we have much fewer teams they might look to Denmark instead as it will be deemed more competitive despite them having fewer fixtures. Also, Grand Prix will be in Ipswich next year and Richard Coleman has said he intends to continue grand prixs at Belle Vue in future years. If you are a GP rider getting more practice on UK tracks might be very beneficial as Sweden has no GP next year.

Currently trying to work out how there will be anymore than 6 teams in the premiership next season! Seemingly Oxford, Poole and Glasgow are not interested in moving up, Eastbourne going straight into the premiership seems a big stretch. Where else are these new teams coming from?

I don't think Lawson's mindset is like Kemp's. Lawson turned up late and cancelled at the last minute I don't think Drew has ever been accused of that. Honestly I think Drew runs on emotion probably too much sometimes but he is still young. I think his massive performance in the KO Cup final was to prove to Ipswich they should not have dropped him. He also performed quite well in both legs in the playoff semi when many of his team mates were crap in the first leg. He seems to ride well in big events. When he has a bad start to a meeting he lets that affect him and it means he ends up scoring very poorly. A change in that mindset especially with international level riders around coaching him would help massively.

Could Drew Kemp be an option his average is a 5.05 and he has been fantastic around Foxhall this season scoring 10, 15 and 7. His average this season at Foxhall was 7.11. Also, he single-handedly won the KO Cup for Leicester. I know there is a lot of controversy around Drew and there was a rift between the old management and him. I just think he has awesome raw talent and if someone could tell him to stop giving up when he's last he could be fantastic.

Tbf he only missed out in the GP challenge because of an engine failure in his last race and he was only 1 point off winning the European championship competing with established GP riders. They are the determining factors for SGP it shouldn't really matter what you do in other leagues.

I went to the banger world final last night. Despite the large crowd there was a huge amount of waiting around for crashed cars to be cleared. However, the presentation made it feel like this was a proper event, it mattered. Even though it is a bunch of amateurs and the luckiest one who wins. The build up to the world final was impressive and the Witches need to do something similar for the start of their meetings imo.

If true makes a TV deal less likely unless they've got Glasgow interested. It makes sense for them though they need to have successful seasons in the championship before they move up again.

I think what this ruling does instead is become an incentive for premiership clubs to be involved in rider development. If it comes in, it is likely Cooper Rushen will go to Kings Lynn and Will Cairns to the Aces. It is not a coincidence that both riders also came through those clubs respective junior teams. Both riders have 3-4 years as an U21 so will massively help their team for years. I think this ruling could see the return of the Belle Vue Colts, maybe Sheffield will strike a deal with Buxton. Could Ipswich want mildenhall back so they can foster a junior team? Also maybe the British youth championship will come to more premiership clubs as the managers there want to find the next big rider before the other clubs do. With an U21 system you could have a 6+ average rider at reserve for a whole year if you sign a superstar. Personally I think teams will have to invest in youth for this chance.

If the idea of one UK U21 rider and one international U21 at reserve is true that does change the Wroclaw rider situation. Marcel Kowolik and Jody Scott could be the 2 possibilities. I feel Rushen and Cairns are already locked in at Belle Vue and King's Lynn. Mikkel Andersen will probably ride in Denmark.

May this help with the split between the premiership and championship and reduce doubling up. At the end of the day KJP and Edwards both have averages around 6.00 in the championship so in an ideal world should not really be troubling the premiership before the hit 7-8 in my opinion.

As I understand it both reserves in the premiership are U21 one is British, the other can be from any country.

If it comes in next season though it will mean the teams with cooper rushen and will cairns will be at an advantage.

I 100% would stick by Brennan. He was a massive part of our premiership winning team in 2025. He had the 13th best average in the 2nd polish league in 2025 (just under 8.00). He scored 10 points in the European championship round 2 this year. Beating Dudek, Jepsen Jensen and Michelsen at points in the night. His situation this year was difficult, pushed into number 1 at Ipswich and being dumped from Bydgoszcz after scoring 9+1, 6, 6+1 in his first 3 rounds. Also some riders just have bad seasons every now and then. He's still got 2-3 years before most riders reach their prime, he comes in on a nice average and has experience of racing against top riders. Finally, letting a rider go to a direct rival on a nice average is really not a good idea. I don't want to see him score big in the 2027 playoffs for Belle Vue.

What we really should think about is that a King's Lynn team which had all winter to sort their riders, still finished below this woeful Ipswich team!

The swedish speedway league have made a deal with tyre company Mitas that means all riders in the 3 leagues over there have to use those tyres. Some big names including Zmarzlik and Lambert are not happy. They prefer Anlas who also provide tyres for the GP and UK. Potentially could mean riders will leave the Swedish league for UK or Denmark.

I found the week of the British final and got the figure.

I did quite a bit of digging and it was 134,000 which made it the 3rd best on ITV4 for that week. Trying to work out how good that is? For context it would've been 6th on Sky Sports for that week however there was no Premier League football. It did beat most hundred cricket matches though.
