How about…. every country holds qualifying rounds for their own riders, the best of whom progress to further stages of qualifying, then to area finals and then a last round of qualifying meetings, such as Nordic, European, British etc finals, culminating with 16 riders, for a one-off meeting to decide who’s the World Champion - no points carried forward from qualifying, everything decided on the day (night) in front of a massive crowd. Do you think this might catch on?

On the recent British Final thread…. On 5/13/2025 at 9:02 AM, Steve Shovlar said: Completely forgot this event was taking place. Just watched it this morning. First impressions. Did they forget to advertise it? Virtually no one there. A real issue. Belle Vue have hosted the British Final for quite a few years now and clearly the locals don’t want it anymore. They simply can’t be arsed to come out. Time for the event to come further south or try a different venue. More rubbish from Mr Shoveller about last night on a similar line to that above - the old boy has really lost it, or…. he takes us all for (word not allowed on here).

I am not a fan of Tai, but….. After a knighthood for Beckham, for whatever, I see that two darts players have been honoured by “our King”. I am not a fan of the honours system but….. Surely Tai is far, far, far more deserving of some recognition?

The winner should be the top scorer from 20 heats (after any necessary run-off). It was bad enough when 21st heat was introduced to individual meetings, so that the winner could be the fourth best. Now the GP winner could be the tenth best. Nonsense! -

Can we go back to 1994 when we had a proper World Speedway Championship
