sjw ministerofport replied to T.N.T.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I am suprised that Cardiff and Glastonbury seem to be on the same weekend. -
We are going to Krsko for the first time and really looking forward to the trip. If anyone wants to say hello I will be wearing my Brummie top to the meeting.

Hi Conkers & Rusky, Sorry about the late reply but we have been to Bydgoszcz. Thank you both for the info, it is all very helpful.

For some reason the old rule was done away with but I don't think the new alternatives have been much better. My idea was to at least take away the double points farce. I am quite happy to let the match run, even if it's a land slide win one way or another. By being made to use a number eight, he gets the chance to compete regularly and that can only be good for the rider and team.

Hi, I was wondering whether anyone could offer me advice on hotel accomidation for the Ice racing final in Assen. I want to try and take some friends to the final so I will need a good standard hotel to keep them happy. Is it better to stay in Assen or Gronigen, whats the night life like? any hints will be welcome. Thanks'

I have been thinking for some time of a way to move from the tactical rider rule used at present. I know most fans hate it, and after last season it was altered some what. My problem is the double points issue, I think it makes the sport look silly. So I was wondering whether you might offer criticism on my idea as I want to get feed back on it. Each team would have to have a number eight rider at every meeting. The number eight would not have a programmed race. If a team was using the rider replacement facility, the number eight would have to take one of the rides. When any team falls eight points behind, their team manager can ask for either of the other teams scheduled riders in the next heat to be replaced by the number eight. The rider who is replaced would be paid a win points money but the points would not count towards the score. The number eight would race and his points would count towards the total. The number eight could be used up to three times in a meeting but only replace any named opposition rider once.

Bydgoszcz Gp
sjw ministerofport replied to Saint Rob's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Bomber looked the fastest rider at Wroclaw and so I can't see why his engines would not be fast enough. Bydgoszcz should be a cracker of a meeting so long as it isn't slick. Final in any order, AJ, Bomber, Nikki, Crump. -

Scott Nicholls

Maybe some comments are right but to my way of thinking Scott is actually getting better, so why can't he keep on improving? is it not possible that he is still learning? and am I the only one who can see that he is loosing his fluffy moments, when he usually defeats himself by trying to hard. -

The Russians

Yes they were good to watch. Well done to all of them. Years ago they had a win or crash reputation and that looks like what they bought to Coventry on Monday night. -

World Cup - Vojens Sat 14 July
sjw ministerofport replied to Mad Mitch's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A total embarrassment So next years Danish GP is maybe going to be there, I hope not. (Was going, but not if it's there). How can only the Danes cope with such conditions? surely all world class riders should be able to find a set up and gate as fast as their opposition. Some of the better GP racing has been on one off tracks this year. How can the third finishing teams still get to the final. Would there not have be more desire to deal with the crap track conditions if allimination for third place had followed. I have been watching speedway for over forty years, and have now seen one of the best meetings ever and also one of the worst in the space two weeks. Congratulations to the Danish team, you aeserved your win. -
Chris Harris
sjw ministerofport replied to Crump99's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
After 42years of watching speedway last nights GP equalled the best moments I have ever seen in this wonderful sport. Chris Harris gave us a display of sheer guts and determination. His never give up attitude is a true pleasure to wittness. His rise to the upper end of the GP table seemed to spur Scott into an even more determind mind set to join him. They both gave their all, and made our British GP the best I have ever seen. And for those who still say that GP's should be run on perminent tracks, after the last two GP's I don't agree with you. -
Calm Down
sjw ministerofport replied to scarletrider's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't expect Nicki can act any differently and stay so competitive, as has been said he is a smashing bloke to talk to. He has gained my respect over the last eighteen months since his hard riding tactics changed. When the bloke managed to some how get on his bike and finish the Swedish GP, he showed just how tough he really is. He may not win the popularity stakes but I guess he will either be a great champion this year or make who ever beats him have to work their butts off. -

Only 26980 behind third place with 8 rounds to go, I will have to use two crystal balls instead of one from now on. -
