  1. Anywhere in the city square is pretty good, as for the food most of it has been good. I think the Irish bar is probably a good place to meet up. The square is a good place to watch the world go by especially if it is sunny and not rainning. Have a good trip.
  2. Thanks ZKZ Kitten, a place to sample next Friday night, can't waite. Oh and thank's Mateusz for the reply.
  3. HI Mateusz, do you know where the speedway bar is, apparently it is under a railway arch I think. Do you know the name of the place please. It has bikes and all the parafinallia of speedway. I was told about it last year but never got there.
  4. Wroclaw may not quite be up to Bydgoszcz for racing but the city is great especially the square. Sunshine, great atmosphere, speedway and hopefully sunny days, just what we need.
  5. If Jason puts as much effort into this year, which I am sure he will, he should win. I have a feeling Nicki will be the main contender, and I will be just as happy if he wins. One point I would like to make is that bomber will not finish at the foot of the group, he will grasp his chance with both hands and shock a few folks.
  6. Calling Rico and Mateusz, any chance of you blokes putting a couple of Chas n Daves lyrics into Polish for us, should add to the atmosphere
  7. We are still staying at Essen, it's just a matter of getting back from Glensenkirchen, not far in a taxi. I would imagine we will be having a drink or two around the stadium on GP night.
  8. We are stopping in the Holiday Inn at Essen, just wondered whether anyone else is. From what you have said on here it looks like we may have picked the wrong town, but if I can get a few pints and a bit of sunshine that will do.
  9. Hi Sammie, if I was you I would send an e-mail to e_ticket they should send your details again for printing. I sure we had a problem a coupl of years ago.
  10. The difference is that Cardiff is one of the the rounds of the World champioship, and not a one off final.
  11. Hi mate; you probably won't have trouble getting tickets on the night. I always by our tickets in advance, saying that we are not going to Prague now. Wroclaw and Bydgoszcz seem to be getting near to capacity so I would always book them in advance. Have a good trip
  12. Let's hope for sunny days and cold beer, the square is a great place to be.
  13. Are you at the Raddison this year Rico? I still owe you a pint.
  14. We are going to the Holiday Inn Essen. I don't have much of an idea about Essen, but it seems good enough for us. I think Gelsenkirchen is around 5 Kl from where we are staying. Good speedway, good German beer, and good company, what more could we ask for.
  15. Well I will be at five GP's hopefully, and if Scott tries as hard as normal I will be more than happy. As for rule changes most sports regularly change their rules. I have said before that I preferred the one off World Championship, but the GP series is very special and a great boost to the sport. I do wish that the old qualifying round system could be bought back so that every rider could have a change to join the GP's.
  16. All the different point systems seem to have flaws, and you guys seem to be knowledgeable enough to spot them. The problem is finding the best and fairest method of finding a World Champion, and selecting riders to be seeded through for the next year. I don't think that any rider should be seeded through not even the World Champion, saying that I don't for one minute expect things to change. The main problem for me watching GP's is that the only race a rider has to win is the final. I want to see every race winner rewarded, I don't want to see second place will do. Luckily most riders do have the win mentality burned into their brain. So my idea would be to leave the points system how it is if you like but reward race winners over the series with seeded places. One heat win = one qualification point One semi final win=two qualification points One final win = three qualification points What problems would this cause do you think
  17. That seems better I don't think the semi finals without points was the right way. Saying that I don't think it will make any difference if Jason is in the same kind of form or one of the other riders.
  18. Thanks Rob B, and Rico, we were going to go on Friday 7th straight to Bydgoszcz but I don't much like the drive to Stansted and with the flight to Bydgoszcz not arriving until almost 22.00 am looking at going on Thursday instead. The problem is that I have not booked the hotel for Thursday night so I'm looking at alternative options as flights go.
  19. Has anyone traveled from Wroclaw to Bydgoszcz by train? how long would it take? Thanks.
  20. Hi Barrow Boy, 1981 was a great final. Bruce Penhall was as always great and I wished he had stayed in speedway for more years than he did. Wembley finals were always wonderful occasions and it was a travesty when speedway was banned from the twin white towers. And as Grachen pointed out 1975 was the year of the bomb threat, I didn't see anyone leaving because of the warning. I'm not sure which final it was but I remember Phil Crump fans being outraged by the improper way the track watering was done, so they took the fire hose of the staff and turned it on them and I think a couple of policemen got a good soaking, all in good fun though. I still think the one off World Champoinships were the best and truest way of finding athe champion, but I also love the GP series. I think it's a pity we can't have both.
  21. Thanks for the info Falcace,it sounds like you had a great time. I will look at taxi's and the train down now as we have plenty of time there. Hi the Cat thanks also. I find that all of our trips to GP's seem detached from the racing, I think the whole occassion not just the drinking leaves us in a haze and only when we watch the recorded racing back home does it register properly. The wife and I have always loved speedway and traveling, but until our first Bydgoszcz trip three years ago we had never mixed the two. Now we are hooked on the series and have met so many great people, what more could we ask. Saying that I just wish that there could be a round in Cancun Mexico what a blast that would be.
