The cult around Harris is crazy. I have loved watching the guy over the last 25+ years, and Cardiff 2007 was one of the best sporting events I've ever experienced, but people have lost the plot with the way they go on whenever he's involved. It looks to me like he swiped out Barker and then stood on him as he tried to get untangled. Was it an intentional stamp? Probably not, but it does look like he steps on him.

I agree with you - on this and most other speedway views - but this is the NL tbf. You get a load of ringers/new players/one-off appearances in Sunday League/amateur football fairly often. It should be fixed for the Prem/Champ as a minimum, but surely it's an easily explainable thing for a development league - just kids/amateurs getting rides where they can, etc. If you're put off speedway or don't "get it" because of that, I don't think you'd have followed speedway anyway.

Maybe. Above all else though, we should be ensuring we look after British speedway first. I don't claim to know the ins and outs of the tyre deal in Sweden, but it sounds as though they're trying to reduce costs for everyone, but the bigger names like Lambert (sponsored by Anlas...) and Zmarzlik are against it. This quote is a pretty good stance IMO: "If Zmarzlik, who earns millions of kronor, decides to stay home, that's his choice. For me, the most important thing is that Swedish riders are doing well," said Krister Gardell, head of speedway at the Swedish Motorcycle Federation. Ensure British speedway is healthy and young Brits are actually being produced, then we can consider the bigger names as and when they become viable.

I think you'll find Tungate holds the longest unbeaten record in SGP history, all gained on a temporary track 😉

Absolute speedway heritage. You can't have a simple opinion on the sport without first having been a rider/promoter/organiser/anyone of any self-perceived importance (delete as applicable). The guy makes a perfectly reasonable point. In fact, they don't even criticise the line up, just that they're disappointed it's not better. This is basically a farewell to one of Britain's best ever riders, I don't think it's unreasonable to have expected a better line up - regardless of whether you're running the meeting, the burger van, or nothing at all.

What's the difference between Vatcher and Nicki? Take out the 3x World titles, 4x World Cups and countless individual achievements, there's very little in it.

This is dreadful from GB so far. Even when we gate we don't seem to know where to ride. We shouldn't be having much trouble against Sweden outside of Henriksson.

Tom Brennan has averaged less than King, Harris, Lawson, Dan Thompson, Rowe & Flint in the Premiership this year. I like him, and he's probably still one of our better riders realistically, but he shouldn't be a shoe-in after this season. I would personally go with Bewley, Lambert, Rushen & Cairns. We're going to finish probably 3rd at best, so it's as close to a free hit as you'll ever get in a World Cup final. If the format stays the same then the youngsters won't get another international chance until the 2029 SWC - what's to lose?

I don't think it makes much difference, certainly not as much as it used to. There aren't many technical tracks in Poland or the GPs now. It appears that being small + lightweight is a big advantage these days.

It sounds like it won't make any difference. Emil and Artem have Polish passports, and won't be allowed into the GPs as Poles, so they'll still be out. Perversely, Grigory Laguta would have more chance of getting to a GP and he was the one downplaying the war...

No different to having a transfer window in football (the world's most popular sport)? I can agree with your point about getting a lesser guest, but having a transfer window seems like a perfectly normal rule. You can't set out rules to account for riders retiring mid-season, we're supposed to be a professional sport.

What's that got to do with anything? If the deadline for declaration was Saturday midnight, fair enough. It doesn't make much sense but whatever. It's just classic speedway rules ambigiuity though.
