Having best point average throughout the season of Ekstraliga is like winning championship. I disagree, speedway is an individual competition, like boxing, tenis, or fencing, not a league one. Any league, or team competition in speedway is secondary to the one and only individual world championships title. -

Presumably to find out who was at fault. Anyway both riders were OK after that. Krakow will surely be questioning Chris Harris' inability to win a single race against this level of opponent on a track he had raced many times. Chris Harris... among the also run in the Polish 2nd division he surely should be flying...shouldn't he? -

I want to be the world champion and I'm going back to the Grand Prix competition – revealed Emil Sayfutdinov to the Polish newspaper „Przeglad Sportowy” . The 2016 season 2016 will be third in a row in which the world title competition will be run without the Russian rider. The former world no.3 declares however, that he has not parted with the Grand Prix forever. - I want to be world champion, and the road to it runs only through the Grand Prix. It is natural that I'm going to be back there someday, but not now. World title is the goal, over which one has to focus to the maximum. One can not afford anything to be distracted by anything - explains Sayfutdinov. It's hard not to agree with the 26-year-old. Tomasz Gollob, shortly before he won his only world title...wrote a will . One has to put everything on one card. - I have to sort out my affairs. There are still few more left, and then I'll be able to compete for the world championship - declared the Russian . Many experts say that the Grand Prix cycle is missing Emil. - After all the SGP competition is held year after year, so what if I am needed there? - said Sayfutdinov with a note of irony. Facts, however, do not lie. In the last season, only former bronze medalist of 2009 would stand a chance to compete with the best in the Grand Prix. Sayfutdinov in recent years won the European championships twice . As he admits, he would like to win the European title for the third time in a row. - It would be nice to win again, but how things will turn out we will find out at the end of the season. All the time I strive to be a better rider. I test different solutions, but in speedway nothing can be for sure - says Emil who in the past went through some injuries - In speedway is almost impossible to plan anything apart from the competition dates, and even these are subject to change. The plan for the 2016 season I have is to go through it safely, ie without injuries, machinery and financial problems. If things will turn out so, I will be very happy - summed Sajfutdinow.

GP doesn't have its own riders... leagues do... and they pay them to ride in them. So why "tracks" should plan their fixtures to suit BSI? Mr Rising... you're living in the past...enough said !

The 2016 Speedway Best Pairs Cup
PolskiZuzel replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
OneSpoprt ideed ran it as the invitational international best pairs events... with intention to turn it into fully fledged FIM World Pairs Championships. Back in 2013 One Sport put their idea and their money on the table, which did not please one of the FIM members who was associated with BSI. He not only blocked the idea of One Sport resurrecting World Pairs Championship but was also strongly against OneSport having anything to do with events in which SGP and SWC riders could compete. FIM, in order to comprise, allowed One Sport to stage SBPC but stressed that no one will be gaining rights to World Pairs Championships. The stalemate existed until the turn of 2015/2016 when OneSport was unexpectedly told that the World Pairs Championship will be staged by BSI. FIM message to OneSport did not mention possibility of any biding offers not only by OneSport but also by any other company. So once again FIM did a deal behind closed door with the good old friends. -
The 2016 Speedway Best Pairs Cup will no longer future national teams. Instead Denmark, Sweden and Poland there will be teams representing companies like Monster, Red Bull, Boll, Fogo, Nice. The three event series will continue to be covered by TV, but hopes for creating official world Pairs Championship have been dashed. The SBPC promotors, OneSport, says that the new formula has been forced upon them by the FIM.

What is screwing up speedway in Poland is not large gates, but overseas riders' payments demands and Polish bosses agreeing to it. Signs are, that this will not go on forever. -

It's not ludicrous at all when you concider what percentage of the gates taking goes to the riders... It has been announced that the Torun team will enter the 2016 season under the name of KS Get Well Torun. The club says that by doing this it wants to support Darcy Ward ( among others) At last Monday's press conference, it was stated that the club’s initiative action is to support people in need. - They also wanted to stress that it was Torun who largely initiated campaign "Get well" for Darcy Ward. We want to see that its potential is fully realized - the club said The isotonic drink called „GetWell” will be released on the market in the new year. Revenue from the sale will be used, among others, for treatment of Darcy Ward. -

Przemyslaw Terminski http://www.fst.torun.pl/en/node/19 owner of the Polish FST insurers broker company, and the owner of KS Torun speedway club, has recently revealed in an interview with the Polish daily sport newspaper „Przeglad Sportowy” his thoughts on financing Polish speedway, and in particular his own club. In his opinion Polish EkstraLiga clubs, in order to keep alive, need to cut wages of their riders by at least 30%. Generally speaking, it would be best if clubs paid for a signature on a contract no more than £25K (or 150K PLN), and for a point around £650 (or 4K PLN). Otherwise, without additional sponsorship clubs would have to seek extra money in fans’ pockets. The ticket would have to cost a hundred PLN . Currently the average ticket price in Torun is 19 PLN and people already complain that it is too expensive. What would they say if it was a hundred PLN? Terminski’s season budget for Torun comes to around £1'500 000.00 . Is this a viable calculation? He thinks so, but it can always be higher of course. Some say that it will be, if his team advances to the play-offs . He denies this idea. In four play-off matches one has to pay riders around £167K (or one million PLN net) because the average pay to riders, per meeting, is 250,000 PLN. As far as the revenue from the final is concerned, it can be estimated at around £100K, or 600 thousand PLN. In short, he doesn't believe that the play-offs bring any extra money. Can Polish EkstraLiga afford riders earning around £ 167K (or one million PLN), and perhaps even more ? The Torun's owner reckons that he can afford to pay riders up to the above mentioned amount. Above that it simply would be a fad. Besides, £167K for the world class rider, is really a super dosh. How much can any rider spend on preparations for the season? Hancock has 50 bikes and why would he need 51or 52. OK, he needs to do some tuning. From time to time he most likely will replace engines, so £25K – 33K (or150-200K PLN) as the annual equipment cost for somebody like him is adequate. What about the cost of keeping his team? Any top rider employs two mechanics. Each of them are paid around € 2,000 a month. For the season it will come to another £33.5K (or 200 thousand PLN). Around £16.5K (or 100,000. PLN) can be added for fares, flights and other expenses. Therefore a grand total comes to around £83.5K, or five hundred thousand PLN. The other half of £167k stays in the rider's pocket. Of course, the top riders in our team are currently getting more. Half a million PLN (in hand) are getting those which you call the 2nd string. But in Mr Terminski’s opinion, there are still those riders who in one season want to earn more than he would in a lifetime. Could the cost of running Polish Ekstraliga club be reduced if the transfer period would last – say – only two weeks? Mr Terlinski does not think so. What is needed in his opinion, is to be firm and neutral, and above else not paying more than one has to. By his own admission, he does what he preaches. Besides, he says - people need to be aware that speedway cannot afford certain things . It is a sport supported by the proverbial barbers, shopkeepers and small businesses like his own. This is not basketball, where the Nike company is able to pay a player $ one million for the fact that he plays in their shoes. In Polish speedway - he said - we have a really great television deal, but ultimately how does 8.5 million PLN compare with 140 million that our football gets.? Please do have a look at Dubai, where the FormulaOne gets 150 million euros. But that sport is watched live by 300,000 and by a half billion on television. Speedway does not have that kind of money , so we must keep our outgoings down - he said. -

Talking about GB...does anyone know how, or who is financing British clubs. Do riders get monthly salaries? or are they paid at the end of the seasonal contracts. How much do they get paid? Do they get paid for points scored, or perhaps for each won match. Do riders get extra pay for scoring every point they can? How much income, in percentage, clubs draw from paying public, and how much from sponsorships? Rough figures will do. Thanks.
