Speedway Champions League ?
PolskiZuzel replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
According to sportowefakty.pl, Roman Karkosik, the former owner of the Torun club considers investing money in World Speedway League. - A few days ago Polish speedway EkstraLiga of which I was a part for the last eight years has opened its new season. Backing up speedway I wanted to create something unique and forward-looking. A strong club in Toruń and Extraliga as a whole., whose board acts in the interest of clubs as a co-owners of the organization. I have found that this was impossible. Certainly not in the personal and proprietary system as it is. The dominant position of the PZM in the Extraliga and its current chairman do not create for this discipline any positive outlook. Messing up with the rule book and the acting style of the EkstraLiga authorities were direct reasons for my decision to split from speedway - said in an interview with SportoweFakty.pl Roman Karkosik. The influential businessman was disgusted by the rules that prevailed in the Polish speedway sport and sold the club. Karkosik however has not forgotten about speedway. - I hope that Tomasz Gollob will present himself like a champion at the National Stadium during the Grand Prix and Emil Sayfutdinov quickly returns to health and twill take part in World Speedway League. I'll be watching closely this competition and I believe that with the support of the international federation it will become the real Champions League, which will be looked at by the whole speedway world - adds at the end Karkosik. -
Many experts say that the 2015 Speedway Best Pairs Cup round at Torun (to be held on 28th of March) is having the strongest line-up in the world. All seven speedway nations that are taking part in this competion will be represented by their best riders. The Torun round of SBP will include three world champions - Nicki Pedersen (2003, 2007, 2008), Greg Hancock (1997, 2011, 2014) and Chris Holder (2012). The Russians with the current Individual European Champion- Emil Sayfutdinov and the Laguta brothers are - in opinion of many are favourites to win. The Poles coached by Mark Cieslak will have in their line up, Krzysztof Kasprzak, 2014 world runner up and Jaroslaw Hampel - former twice world runner up champion plus Piotr Pawlicki, individual Junior World Championship A year ago Australians were the winners on the Motoarena and later went on to win the Speedway Best Pairs Cup. Unfortunately one of the world best Australians, Darcy Ward is banned till the August, so Mark Lemon their team manager decided this time to call up Chris Holder, Jason Doyle and Troy Batchelor. Compared to previous years, the formula of the competition has changed. The first rider at the finish line will receive 3 points, the second - 2, the third - 1, and the last - 0. The team’s score for each tournament remains unchanged (10,8,6,4,3,2,1). The winner will be the pair that in three tournaments will collect the highest number of points. SBPC prize pool is 900 thousand. zł. The round one of the 2015 Best Pairs Cup tournamnet at Torun looks like this: Australia: Chris Holder, Jason Doyle, Troy Batchelor Denmark: Nicki Pedersen, Niels Kristian Iversen Latvia: Andrzej Lebiediew, Kjastas Puodżuks, Maksim Bogdanow Poland: Krzysztof Kasprzak, Jarosław Hampel, Piotr Pawlicki Russia: Emil Sajfutdinow, Grigorij Łaguta, Artiom Łaguta Sweden: Andreas Jonsson, Tomas H. My apologies to everyone concerned...and especially to uk martin, who rightly pointed out that the correct name (at this moment) for the Torun speedway club is - "KS Torun" K - stand for Klub, and S stands for Sportowy. There are rumours that the club is getting a major sponsorship deal from "Polski Cukier" (Polish Sugar) and the odds are that the sponsor's name will be incorporated into club's official name.

PolskiZuzel replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Most likely they would. You must remember that the current situation concerning speedway worlwide, and the UK particulary is due to the current political situation. In the 50'/60' there was still the Iron Curtain and it would not possible for the likes of Briggs, Moore, Fundin or Mauger to ride in the Polish League on the daily basis. Only thanks to Solidarnosc and the collapse of Iron Curtain Hans Nielsen was allowed to ride for Lublin in Poland, thus showing others the way. -

You're not the only one. Emil Sayfutdinov thinks the same and for the 2nd year running will not compete for the World title. The Russian rider believes that he is not adequately prepared to battle for the GP medals at the world championships. - "The Grand Prix is a special game. To ride in it you have to have arranged everything accordingly. This applies to mental issues, logistics and equipment base. To obtain a good results, tone also needs a bit of luck. GP cycle is difficult to compare with the SEC, where there are only four rounds. The Grand Prix have twelve of them and one practically has to be focused just on them running from one GP competition to another. For me, it's too tiring. When I competed in it, there was always a moment when I was sick of seeing a motorcycle. Last season was different for me. I was focused only on the league and on the SEC appearances. I had more time for myself, I was able to relax between events. Thanks to this I managed to get satisfying results, and being on a bike brought me only joy - said Emil Sayfutdinov in an interview with the Polish newspaper "Glos Wielkopolski". -

Interesting... KK when asked by the Polish interviewer what he thought about his and Nicki Pedersen's clash - replied: -Nicki Pedersen nie szanuje innych. Inni też go nie będą szanować. -Nicki does not respect others. Others will also not respect him. -

To make it more clear I'd like to add that originally in The ExtraLeague Individual Championship two riders from each Polish clubs were to take part. One Polish and one overseas rider with the highest CMA following the 10th round of the ExtraLeague competition. However, due to clashes with other tournaments, Niels Kristian Iversen, Andreas Jonsson, Michael Jepsen Jensen and Pawel Przedpełski will be missing. Earlier, due to injury Peter Kildemand and Gregory Walasek had to withdraw. Their place will be taken by Emil Sajfutdinow, Adrian Miedzinski, Piotr Protasiewicz and Matej Zagar. The Russian starts in place of Jepsen Jensen, because in the Częstochowa line-up there is no more foreign riders. Thus, Torun will have three representatives in the competition. In contrast, Zielona Gora will have two Poles. The tournament in Tarnow will be conducted according to the new formula. After the main round of 20 heats, two of the best riders will advance directly to the great final. In turn, riders with placed 3-10 will compete in two semi-finals. The winners of these two semis will start in the decisive race of the day .

Patryk Dudek Tests Positive For Banned Substance
PolskiZuzel replied to lastword's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
There is no talk about "performance enhancing", or "recreational drugs" - these terms are used in the UK. We are talking about the presence of prohibited substances. Acording to reports these substances are prohibited in Poland but not - or example - in Sweden, where Dudek was also tested. -

Trees, pull another one. How come you don't care about the comp, if you comment on it. -
We all know that speedway riders whilst riding on all kind of tracks are exposed to danger. To minimise it some years ago air filled fences were introduced to protect them. It seems that not everywhere. When you look here: https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/t1.0-9/p180x540/10417659_4234433356754_2752396118744457455_n.jpg one wonders who gave permission to stage a speedway meeting on such a venue. My sincere condolences to Grzegorz's family (wife and small daughter) R.I.P.
