Peterborough Speedway Disabled Parking 2020

It's pretty small beer though to justify that sort contact. Local paper and radio would have been effective enough. Hopefully they'll not be needed if Wealdstone's information becomes reality. -

Saves us bringing the thread back up the to the top of the front page so useful in that respect. -

"We had a good chat for 10-15 mins" well you were. Seems like a blame deflection agenda to me. It'd be better and taken more seriously if it came from the organ grinder. -
I'm not too sure of the relevance of the car park charge? That's a separate issue I don't have a problem with, apart from Colin Horton bringing it in to allegedly cover the clubs SRBF contribution (if my memory serves me right), the charge sticking and subsequently seemingly just being subsumed in to running costs. Also worth noting is the Blue Badge shake up 2019 to take in hidden disabilities. Wheelchairs and disability naturally have always seemed to go together but the criteria is somewhat wider these days covering all manner of physical and mental health issues. Anyway, my last post on the matter. Noodles must be doing his nut

Always a first.

The club have made no secret in the past of where the trouble lies regarding parking so I’m not buying silence and taking the rap this time. Of course nobody wants to make things difficult but ill-conceived and rushed decisions often have that effect. As far as we know, the landlord delegates parking to individual events and if the said event has the organisation and capacity for internal parking then they could use it? Don’t really get the last bit. Disabled concessions are about making things easier not more difficult. Whether anyone can possibly go that extra mile occasionally shouldn’t come into it. A very admirable defence of Buster. Not seen too many of those but good to see.

Taking the EoES out of it because it was a club decision to remove a working system that had been in place for the best part of 20 seasons for their disabled customers, here's the potential discrimination for you to see: - indirect discrimination - putting rules or arrangements in place that apply to everyone, but that put someone with a protected characteristic (ie disability) at an unfair disadvantage. It has to be said that they are probably legally entitled to do what they've done with good justification (not that I'm sure that it'd be a legal matter anyway?). I doubt that their current explanation would win the day if it ever came to that, which it will not. I remember Jim Lynch threatening to take the EoES to court when Mercer arrived at the EoES as CEO and threw the disabled out. That probably put the rent up a few hundred quid. If the club are happy to take the hit of losing paying customers and resulting poor public relations at this time in particular then more fool them perhaps!

Well as they've got a plan of sorts now, although a season as proposed is unlikely, here is some education for them on this topic regarding new rules https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55221474 -

British Speedway to be reborn??
Crump99 replied to MatthewAiden's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Good: " there are no verifiable statistics on the ultimate fate of Greyhounds who survive racing but are disposed of each year when injured or no longer competitive." -
Short air fences coming off the turn do seem quite common these days but that one looked a bag short at least and an accident waiting to happen, as it proved. Instead of taking out a fence panel with his back after just missing the air fence he should have had a much softer, albeit relatively heavy having bailed out at speed, landing.

BT Sport rip-off -Surprised ?
Crump99 replied to rusky's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I got caught out by this when I tried to suspend my BT subscription at the same time as Skysports. They (Sky) said ok they would do that but the BT bills kept coming. I phoned BT to ask why because I said that I'd suspended BT Sports through Sky but they didn't explain that my BT Sports wasn't actually anything to do with Sky. They did suspend the account although I've now cancelled their more expensive £29.99 account because I can do it through Sky for £25 if needed. -

Ouch, must remember not to reply to you again Panthers Hawkins' era was a pub operation so that bit computes anyway. I can't recall too much about the presentation. I can only remember meeting starts delayed as debts were allegedly being paid out of the night's gate receipts. -

Didn't know that you could drop that wasn't used? Don't recall that ever being used? It could have been but passed me by if it was. Would have been dropped pdq because it's crap in that context. -
Playing the national anthem pre-introduction at Peterborough was bad enough via Horton & Watson. By the time most supporters had risen from their seats the anthem had finished.

Don't get your hopes up. If they had any of that then they'd have considered their actions more carefully and not tried to sneak in the unique action (historically Panthers management support their disabled customers) through the back door. Hopefully they'll sneak in the reconsideration of their error in the same covert way. With Covid-19 and its restrictions being with us, as it stands, for the foreseeable future you'd hope that Pratt, Johnson & Chapman would want to start 2021 in a positive manner encouraging as many fans as possible to consider attending within any potential continuing supporter capacity restrictions? -

Well let's start at the beginning. Doing a Sweden/Covid-19 search on Google today doesn't make pretty reading if you're using that as a benchmark. South Korea and Japan are chalk and cheese compared to to UK and South Korea had a head-start after its inadequate dealing with an outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) in 2015. Japan is a funny one but (Coronavirus: Japan's mysteriously low virus death rate) makes interesting reading. A tenuous SARS type of herd immunity from the off and their pretty standard use of face masks regardless is arguably not comparing like with like. -

As people return to some sort of normality (within the current restrictions), socialise more in groups and spend more time indoors then review the statement after New Year. The UK is not alone is it? The whole world has to be seen to have gone mad. -

Given that there could be a second spike during close season (the real one), social distancing and/or other restrictions could be with us for the foreseeable future until or unless a vaccine and better treatments appear then I'd still wouldn't bet on viable speedway as we know it happening in 2021 anyway? -

Given that BBC Radio Cambs have run a story this week (that now links to the Pratt website article that also ran in the Peterborough Telegraph this week) it might, if you have a contact, be worth bending their ear again now that many of the customers they've displaced would probably be vulnerable under Covid-19 on top of the original reasoning which looks weaker now given that there will be a lot less vehicle traffic and footfall in the unlikely event of anything happening in 2020. -
That's Northampton. Ippo not cancelled as far as I can see.

In terms of Peterborough it could be scuppered in an instant "Today’s update (14/7/20) on the rate of new coronavirus cases across the country has shown another increase for Peterborough with the city eighth in the national rankings" (source Peterborough today) so it would be a risk to start anyway. Who's going to put time, effort and money in under the current circumstances? -

Bit too much credit there as that would indicate some appreciation of the cock up he presided over which thankfully hasn't been tested in 2020 and can be binned for 2021 if the club still runs.
