Well, I did finish up at the Norfolk Arena, which was certainly a good choice on my part. Although it could never be described as a classic, it was definitely a very entertaining meeting that could have gone either way. Sadly for us Young Stars fans it went the way of Plymouth, and congratulations to them for that. When you consider that there had been in excess of 50 races on the track in the afternoon, courtesy of a Southern Track Riders meeting, Buster Chapman has to be complimented for providing such a superb raceway for the evening, in such a short space of time. It was good to see Darren Mallett back on a bike again following his lengthy time on the sidelines with a nasty illness. King's Lynn rider of the meeting for me however was Jake Knight, who once again showed a maturity beyond his years. His progress this year has been quite startling, and exciting times look to be ahead for this 18-year old local lad. The same can also be said of Snettisham's Lewis Kerr, who headed the field on two occassions last night. As for Plymouth, well they have as a stronger top three as any in the country, and will always present a problem to the opposition. Nicki Glanz is a very talented rider, who must be destined for the Premier League in 2011. Mark Simmonds & Seemond Stephens have got the t-shirts so to speak, and look super charged on their zimmer frames I was also impressed with Jaimie Pickard. So well done and thanks to all thirteen riders on show last night, a good gutsy performance from each and everyone of you. Okay, can I now offer my apologies to those of you who were disappointed at the lack of a Track Shop last evening, particularly the Plymouth supporters who wanted to purchase badges and the gentleman who had a bundle of Devils programmes to swap. I can assure you that we always provide a merchandise outlet, but circumstances beyond our control deemed otherwise last night. Every attempt was made on Wednesday to get the stock to me, but a combination of traffic jams caused by a series of road accidents, and the eventual postponement of the 'Stars' league meeting, prevented this happening. Jaybea left the Felixstowe warehouse at around 2.30pm encountering all sorts of problems en-route finally getting to West Winch on the A10 some couple of hours later. Now as you local people know, that is only about a 10-minute drive from the Norfolk Arena, however, a serious accident caused the road to be closed until around 7.00pm, and those that were on the road were stuck with nowhere to go. I came from a completely opposite direction, leaving home at 4.10pm and arriving at the stadium just before 5.40pm, a journey that would normally take around 20-minutes. The reason for my lengthy journey was unknown, other than for volume of traffic, which seems to be the norm these days, and I suppose is the penalty one pays for living at a popular coastal resort (I had a similar problem last night). It's a problem you good folk encounter a lot yourselves I know, especially in the Torbay area, and on the notorious M5. With regards to the programmes, I'm fully aware of the fact that most tracks supply their Track Shop with a bundle of programmes at the conclusion of each meeting, and that used to be the case at King's Lynn. However, these days, there are seldom many if any left, and one can't expect a promoter to print extras just so that he can give them away at the end of the night, business doesn't work like that. All I can suggest is that you write to the speedway office with your request to see if they can help, and I can assure they will if they can. Alternatively the other option would be to see if any supporters are selling their unwanted copies on e-bay. As for the 'Young Stars' badges, then they are definetly available, and can be purchased through www.enjaydesigns.net/ I hope that information has been of some help to you, and can only apolgise once again for your disappointment on this occassion. Mike

Yeah I know the NA is the only place to be, it's trying to convince management of that!! :
-
If you've not already left Bryn, you'll need your thermals and muffs to keep the strong wind out of your delicate lugholes. Have a good day. I'm still undecided whether to go to Birmingham or not. It's such a predicament when the two teams are racing on the same day and one of us wants to be at the NA whilst the other would prefer a day out in Brummie land.
-
I'm gutted that this clashes with the senior teams visit to Birmingham, as I would dearly loved to have been there. But alas, National Development League racing comes first for me, but it's still a shame that clubs two teams have to ride on the same day, but it must affect attendance levels for one of them.

Yes folks this meeting does have a 7pm start, and if you're not going to Birmingham to see the Premier League match, then why not come along to the Norfolk Arena. With the meeting having been rained-off on Wednesday, hopefully you'll be thirsting for some track action, and will come along and watch your other King's Lynn team race. Although not quite the powerhouse side of previous years, Plymouth are still a very formidable outfit, and are bound to provide us with bags of entertainment. As Bryn has already mentioned, there is a Southern Track Riders meeting in the afternoon, with around 50 races on offer, and that particular event is completely free to watch. So rather than sit in bank holiday traffic queues, why not turn up a little earlier, and catch some of that action too. As far as the evening action is concerned, condsidering the likes of Lambert, Lowe & McDade are away representing their senior sides, Dale has worked around the clock to assemble a really competitive Young Stars septet, and a close contest is in prospect. Line-ups are:- KING'S LYNN 1. Barrie Evans 2. Scott Campos 3. Jake Knight 4. R/R 5. Darren Mallett (Capt) 6. Chris Widman 7. Lewis Kerr PLYMOUTH 1. Nicki Glanz 2. Jaimie Pickard 3. Matt Bates 4. Seemond Stephens 5. Mark Simmonds 6. David Gough 7. Ben Reade

Absolutely no chance of that mate, and everyone at the club is fully aware of that

I'm also going on holiday soon, and am eagerly awaiting the date in case I need someone to take over my role in the programme. I'm not sure when the cut-off date is for NDL fixtures.

Abandoned World Cup Final
Mimmo replied to Mimmo's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Great stuff, thank you very much indeed. All the Best Mike -
Does anyone have the scorers and heat details from this meeting that they could post on here please? Thank You Mike

Your rough treatment OLD CHAP, your rough treatment. Mine's still in one piece!! Still dry in my little corner of gods own county. We've had the odd shower (me being the biggest), but nothing to cause any problems, just wish the Norfolk Arena was in my street.
-
Good LORD, living where you do, I'd have thought there were enough shrines for you to be on your knees and prevent this sort weather happening. Amen.
-
Never mind Jaybea, you must still have plenty of caviar left from our last experience. Take what Parsloes (yep, I think Parsoles is more apt too) says with a pinch of your caviar, he's always threatening to bring his cheque book along so as to purchase a key-ring. Going from memory, the last time he removed his itchy digits from his pockets, was the year Lea Bridge beat Hastings in that infamous Tuesday morning meeting.
-
No idea mate. I think Dale would have posted a restaging date had one been agreed. I just hope it's not whilst I'm on holiday, as I hate missing National League meetings. It's peeing down where I am now.
-
Quite honestly Bryn it's devastating news, because that sale would have doubled my takings of the previous meeting, so Jaybea's not going to be a happy camper. Also, I've not been able to contact the third stray dog to let it know the meeting is off, so where's the poor buggar going to cock its leg now?
-
OH BUGGAR and the damn sun has just come out again!!
-
Let's hope the rain remains in the Fakenham area then, it's still nice and dry around Heacham/Hunstanton and presumably Snettisham Kevin (you're bound to be lurking on here ). The sun popped it's head out about 45-minutes ago, albeit briefly.
-
The King's Lynn side is 1) Simon Lambert 2) R/R 3) Scott Campos 4) Cal McDade 5) Adam Lowe 6) Lewis Kerr 7) Jake Knight Buxton: 1) Craig Cook 2) R/R 3) Lewis Dallaway 4) Robert Branford 5) Adam Allott 6) TBC 7) TBC It'll be good to see you Parsloes and that makes ten of us now that will be attendance, although I'm still awaiting confirmation from one of the three stray dogs who like to come along!! The Bird in the Bar will be there along with the army of stewards that tend to outnumber the crowds. Ray the flag guy is threatening to come along, and rumour has it that the start marshall might turn up too, so it really is party time. BRING ON THE KEY-RING FOBS. The weather at the moment is good (well, not by Bryn's standards), and although the forecast is rubbishe, hopefully they'll be wrong like they were yesterday.
-
I hope you can both make it, because the last two Young Stars meetings have produced racing of the highest quality, and with Buxton being such a good side, we could be in for a repeat performance. Just praying now that the weather will be okay, as the forecast on TV this morning is not promising.
-
I can only hazard a guess, but I would have thought that at times, possibly less than that.
-
Six of you then plus me, we're getting close to a record crowd!!
-
There's another chance to see some high class action this Friday (13th!!!) when the Young Stars take on the might of Buxton at 7.30pm. The Hitmen boast the likes of former King's Lynn favourite Adam Allott, who is always good for a few points around the Norfolk Arena, as we saw when he so ably guested for us recently. Craig Cook is doing big things at Workington, as is to a slightly lesser extent Nick Morris at Glasgow. The Young Stars of course utilise the services of Sheffield's Simon Lambert along with recent Stars signing and former Edinburgh 'Monarch' Cal McDade. Throw in the likes of Adam Lowe, Scott Campos & Jake Knight, all riders that have had some experience at Premier League level, and you can see that this fixture is packed full of promise. Hope to see you in your hundreds (I can dream I suppose) on Friday. Well I guess I can be sure of seeing Whippy, Mr & Mrs Reeve, the bird in the bar, and the three stray dogs that turn up every meeting, and that will probably be it

Weymouth Vs. Tamworth Saxons
Mimmo replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in National League Speedway
Good luck in your efforts to get Tamworth back in the sport, more names from the past the merrier. -
I don't know the answer to that Ivan. I did wonder that as he was in Somerset last night, whether he might be taking Darren Mallett's place in the Stars line-up at Newport tomorrow afternoon.
-
Hi Phil, are we going to be blessed with your presence tomorrow?
-
I wonder if anyone else is interested in this fixture apart from you and I???? Are we going to be the only two there?
