Robert Lambert, play-off guest
ouch replied to szkocjasid's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Looking at the latest green sheets Robert is down as an assessed average rider, marked by a *. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/p23_issue_26.pdf Rule 010.2 states “ A Premiership Assessed League rider will establish an MA after completing 3 home and 3 away qualifying fixtures”. Kings Lynn only have 2 home fixtures left so if we follow the rule book then he will not get a new average and remain assessed. He therefore cannot guest due to the rule book 012.4.2 Guest Rider (G) “c) the guest must be in a current team declaration and have an established MA”. I thought Robert would come back and have his average just roll but it seems that’s not the case. http://www.scbgb.co.uk/download.php?view.10304 -
No problem. I thought it might be a league meeting that had a bearing on the play off qualification that you were referring to. I’m happy to acknowledge when a misunderstanding has taken place. Good luck in the play offs but not too much should we meet again.

The rules have been changed from last year meaning you cannot sign a full team member and HAVE to rely on guests. The cartel wants a crazy situation where Belle Vue if hit badly by injuries could have Peterborough step in. 1 Chris Harris 2 R/R 3 Ben Basso 4 Ben Cook 5 Niels Kristian Iversen 6 Simon Lambert 7 Jack Smith Any organisation that legislates for that is nuts especially when you consider The Aces could put out a fully contracted team, off the top of my head of 1 Zmarzlik 2 Berge 3 Zagar 4 Etheridge 5 Tungate 6 Bellego 7 Mulford (if fit by then) The people running (ruining) this sport and BSF that back them are crazy. -
Whereas using the words prick and ar$ehole you come over as a really nice chap.

This was a discussion about The League. I wasn’t interested in challenges etc. I can see where your misunderstanding came from now. The Aces lost away at 2nd division Poole earlier this season.

Though it would be by the rules again I could see certain promoters trying to circumnavigate those rules again if they thought it would help them win against an opponent (and rider) suffering with injuries. Yuck! -
Last defeat was almost two years ago. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/event/sheffield-tigers-v-peterborough-panthers-3/

Ipswich need to win at Wolves as Leicester will gain 6 points at home (Sheffield is a banker with the Bates’ involved) and they will get at least a point at Peterborough. Ipswich will end up rueing the Lions win at Owlerton. Under normal circumstances you could bet your house on the Tigers going unbeaten at home but that win will see both Bates’ teams through to the play offs. ££££££££££. Be great if you did it, the look on Bates face would be priceless if they managed to muck that up between them.

2014 Chris Harris represented both Coventry & Kings Lynn in the play offs.

There’ll be no sanctions against Craig this time as he’s not an Ace. Lewis Kerr did the same thing as he’d ridden two meetings before the British Final and rode after without any problems. As Craig did, he missed an individual meeting for a none speedway related reason but being in a cartel side there’ll be no penalty imposed. To be honest the ruling in 2017 was purely implemented to stop the then Aces British Champion lining up for the home leg of the KO cup final against a cartel team who ironically now included Rory Schlein. Leicester’s Richie Worrall makes the Cook/Aces ruling back in 2017 just look vindictive and you lot let it happen. Actions have consequences - unfortunately.
-
Half of the last 10 play off have seen teams with injuries to their top men that required guests. Play off teams can only choose guests from non play off teams.
-
Tuesday I would say. Precedent has been set when Craig was stopped from competing for The Aces in the home leg of that years KO Cup final. 16/10/17 SCB STATEMENT: CRAIG COOK: The Speedway Control Bureau have imposed Craig Cook a Period of Inactivity of 7 days due to withdrawing through illness from the SGB Riders Championship at Glasgow on Saturday 14th October.
-
Kings Lynn Speedway and the BSPL are separate entities in the same way that Kings Lynn Speedway and Norfolk Arena Ltd are.
-
I think he’ll be serving a Period of Inactivity of 7 days so I don’t know why this wasn't mentioned earlier.

I recently had my roof done by a company where the owner had taken a back seat and he employed another chap to do the work. I was left with a big hole in my roof with rain peeing in night after night. I will continue to use this company and fully support them as it wouldn’t be fair to do otherwise. The dodgy roofer he employed has since left. The roof was to be fixed on Thursday but he’s rang to say that day is off. I’m not bothered as it’s not his fault and he wants as much money as he can get for his retirement which is fair enough. The house is a really mess with all the rain but the don’t blame anyone, I’m just happy to have a roofer.

I’m fine with you believing that. Enjoy your speedway.

010.5 FACILITIES No facility is permitted to replace a rider, who although included in a re- declaration has not made an appearance for that team since being re- declared. This applies to BOTH Becker & Nicholls. This rule is so rarely applied that it’s pointless being there. It’s probably only included to trip a particular team up. So forgetting that that rule wasn’t applied, there is another that needs looking at…… 010.3 TEAM DECLARATIONS In the Premiership and Championship Leagues a rider taken out of a team through injury cannot be re-declared in that team, within 28 days. Wolverhampton re declared their team 06/04/23 to include Scott Nicholls (5.28) for 28 days. (https://britishspeedway.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/p23_issue_3.pdf http://www.wolverhampton-speedway.com/_mobile/news.php?extend.3652) He unfortunately got injured so Wolves asked if they could re declare back to their previous lineup. The cartel said yes (obviously) on 10/04/23 and this meant the could call on a guest with a higher average to replace Luke Becker (https://britishspeedway.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/p23_issue_3.pdf) But….. Belle Vue re declared their team 27/08/21 to include Nikolaj Busk (4.63) for 28 days. ( https://britishspeedway.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/p21_issue_17.pdf https://britishspeedway.co.uk/premiership/aces-make-injury-replacement/) He unfortunately got injured so Aces asked if they could revert back to their previous lineup. The cartel said no (obviously) and The Aces had to see out the 28 day period finding guests to cover his low average rather than Richie Worralls higher (5.32) figure. Bizarrely The Aces were made to find a guest (Simon Lambert) whilst a fit Richie sat on the sidelines as it fell with the 28 day period. (https://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/20448/sheffield-premiership-06-09-2021) The most important thing to remember here is that no one cares and it’s been that lack of care that has seen our wonderful sport die in this country.

British Final 2023
ouch replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Same here though I’m bit further at 6 hours 13 minutes. Once I heard Worrel, Schlein and Cook were missing, I though count me out. If Ben Barker withdraws, I’m not even taping it. -
Illegally to boot, so win-win for the cartel.
-
Broken gate Electrical failure Hole suddenly appeared in track Burst water pipe Bad rain forecast in the next 48hrs Volcano Can’t be arsed On holiday Note: Don’t use burst water pipe as you’re in for it from the cartel. If you’re a cartel team though, go for it.
-
Good point. I’d say around 80% to 90% less than cared in the 70’s and 80’s.
-
After the excellent away win a Leicester they followed it up with two superb wins at tricky Kings Lynn & Peterborough. Both these latter two meetings really show off the Witches title winning credentials, especially the last heat decider against the Panthers. If they beat Kings Lynn next week then I’d say they’ve one hand on the trophy.
-
You don’t remember rightly as the 25/75 percent rule wasn’t around at the time and was introduced in 2020. Whilst you’re correct that the first play off meeting was 21/09/16, you’re forgetting that the cut off date for where we move from qualification period to play off period was a week before. The last meeting of the qualifying period was 16/09/16 (https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/speedway/14748998.chequered-flag-report-lakeside-hammers-58-swindon-robins-35/ ) Wolverhampton’s last qualifying meeting was 12/09/16 just three weeks after Tai’s first meeting back. I suppose I could have said Tai was signed three weeks before the play off qualification period ended but I didn’t think I needed to as I thought the term play offs covered this. Following his 2016 debut with the Wolves, Tai rode at Monmore on 2 further nights before their final qualifying meeting.
-
I can’t put my hand on the 2017 regs when the Tai ringer rule was first applied. I’d imagine they’d be similar to the 2018 regs that forbade any changes for fixtures after 15/08/2018. The play offs started over four weeks after this date on 17/09/2018. The initial Tai ringer rule was in connection with his signing in 2016 just three weeks before the play offs when they knew he couldn’t gain a new average and therefore be eligible to do it all over again the following year. Thankfully the powers that be saw sense and put a stop to such things. It’s crazy that in the intervening years the window between allowable team changes and play offs has shrunk making the Tai ringer rule almost redundant.

Leicester lions 2023 (PREMIERSHIP)
ouch replied to PhilTheAce's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Any club that gives a debut to a superstar that isn’t covering for a badly injured rider, three weeks or so before the play off cut off are just grim individuals. Doesn’t sit well with me and I’m not bothered if it goes against the grain on here, we’ll never agree on this. Play fair or not at all in my book. Many ex fans feel the same way.
