Do you have a list of the league meetings Brady completed abroad whilst choosing to miss meetings in the UK? Links would be good.
-
Doyle and Brady display the same Aussie grit and loyalty to their English clubs that we at Belle Vue have been lucky to experience before with our two Jason’s. They push themselves to the limit sometimes and that can lead to them having to pull out and not see the day out for their respective teams - it’s why we all love them so much.

It would have been pointless Brady trying to ride on Thursday then subsequently pulling out due to his injury. It happened last year against Sheffield. You have to admire the riders commitment to their UK club but they need to be realistic. Ive even seen several clowns say Belle Vue should be annoyed Brady riding tonight …… he has to come back somewhere for one of his club sides and hopefully all being well will be at Belle Vue Monday as Dan plans to be.

Fact bomb. Only three current riders from opposing clubs have higher 2025 away averages than Jaimon. Emil isn’t one of them. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/2025-rider-statistics/

Picking and choosing, how dare they. Wronguns unite!!

This subject is better than the sorting hat in Harry Potter for identifying wronguns.

If he misses the Kings Lynn meeting on the 23rd I’ll be annoyed, that’s if he completes league meetings abroad. He has never done that and I don’t see him starting now. I think fans and the BSPL need to appreciate that riders following injury will return to league racing when they feel ready and given some riders compete in several leagues across the world, that come back might not always be in the UK. Our injury jinx continues. I’m hoping Belle Vue’s fine away form continues and we can once again contribute to a close competitive meeting, with hopefully another win on the board. Having said that, if the racing is great and we lose then I’d be happy as racing at other tracks really needs some entertainment to brighten up the league in between Aces home meetings.

Great to see Leon doing so well this season. His old school average (inc bonus) for this year is nearly seven points. Watching him in the Colts in 2019 I thought he was destined for greatness but he has plateaued in the intervening years, until now. Great work from Simon to help turn things around. Looking back to 2019 I thought I was watching the backbone of future Aces teams in Jordan, Leon & Kyle but sadly it was not to be. Also looking back, what a team Kent had with Rowe, Kemp, Gilkes, Jenkins & Mulford in their team. NL training at its best.

Still buy programmes, I’ve got over 50 years of them in the loft. I keep the dust off them by covering them in speedway anoraks weighed down by badges. 🤣 -

You are indeed correct. I mark my programme when a pass occurs after bend 3 lap 1 as I’ve always though any passes before then was just riders sorting themselves out off the start line. I can see other fans being happy with the race being settled within 6/7 seconds but it’s not for me. Apologies for putting my thoughts into the heads of other fans and enjoy your speedway - well the first bit anyway. -

I agree and that’s what makes it worse. These tracks have been about for years (not Leicester granted) and provided good racing so why aren’t they now? We go on about bikes etc but there are several tracks of differing sizes and shapes that still provide good racing though all bar one are in lower leagues. I just feel if the desire was there tracks could provide more entertainment. If the desire isn’t there then they should be forced. -

No, no, no, no!! You don’t sit down riders like PC, Mort, Smith, Screen, Loram, Bewley etc and tell them to learn to gate better. You sit the promoters down and demand that they provide race tracks that allows this type of rider to RACE on. -

Just watched it on Dmax. First for me in that I forwarded through the program and watched the ads. What a bloody shame, so sad. -
Dan touch the tapes and was rightfully excluded. There use to be a thing where rivals or certain riders would intentionally jump as they knew they were in the eye-line of their competitor and it could make them jump into the tapes. It’s lost its regularity as riders today are mostly good mates being teammates at one of their other teams. I’ve seen it creep back into the sport recently and just wondered if others had noticed. Jaimon and Mark have mentioned it recently. No rule change is required. It’s personal choice if riders want to do it.

Hope Brady is fit for this as otherwise the BSPL will put out another press release telling him he’ll be in trouble if he rides abroad before the UK. Last season he got injured, missed a meeting here then made a curtailed attempt at a comeback abroad before missing the UK, which resulted in him getting a telling off. Hope it doesn’t happen again, to any rider. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/miscellaneous/scb-statement-brady-kurtz/

ALL tracks should have a minimum of two racing lines, more if possible. Promoters who favour gate’n’go need to be taken to task and I’m sure their fans would soon welcome better racing. It’s such an easy thing to monitor over a season as you just need to count passes after bend 3 lap 1. If it’s consistently low then there’s a problem that needs addressing. We all know every race isn’t going to be great, that’s always been the case and passes don’t need to occur between first & second. The NSS has around a 50%-60% hit rate for good races but many tracks are 10%-15% which is simply unacceptable.

TBH this special dispensation is no different to when Belle Vue have benefited from such a thing. Link to follow, still looking.

Gate’n’go tracks alway tough for the Aces. Only 10 from 5 from Brady’s rides (15+1 & unbeaten in last seasons meetings) was too much for The Aces to cover especially with the problems at reserve. Best result for speedway as a whole as Brummies needed a win in front of home fans and The Aces don’t need to win any more away meetings as their play off spot is a certainty. I always thought it was considered “bad form” to sucker a rider into the tapes but I’ve seen it a few times this season - is it ok now?
