  1. Interesting.. could this be the kick up the bum the governing body needs?
  2. But if they were married you'd expect them both to kick up a fuss if you wanted to open a chippy next door. The BSPA and SCB are very much in the same bed.
  3. In name only, they have the same HQ.
  4. They are the same thing.... why would they pay themselves?
  5. Because it's not money going into a BSPA franchise. It'll be substitutional money out of the BSPA and into another. It tends to be the same for supporters collecting subs for raffles etc, it has to be additional money and not money that would otherwise be used to gain enterance into another meeting. Because we can't even if we wanted to.
  6. Isn't that quite good for speedway in general? Will we run won't we just weeks before tapes go up is the norm?
  7. Hate the idea. Builders and planners come in, kill the sport in the area, then have the audacity to call the roads after the clubs riders... Talk about rubbing salt into wounds. Go to Cradley Heath, there are a few new roads there named on a speedway theme.
  8. So the questions are: Is speedway monopolised by the BSPA/SCB for greed/control or through general safety for it's riders etc? Seems like the basis for a good idea has been squashed. Neither would they get a bite of the cherry. I guess it wasn't a shared event thing.
  9. Ahhh I see cost a tuppenny bit to make, market, sell and post, but £79.98 must go to the FIM for use of the words "FIM Approved" on the label.
  10. What's so special about the fittings to be £80? Can only be bolts and brackets etc???
  11. or rear sprocket? Don't know what's the chain thingy on the rear wheel?
  12. Yes, the riders may have that "Ready Break" orange glow around them from the atomic atmosphere. the MOD nuclear warhead development factory
  13. The one thing I did notice, speed being irrelevent, but as the bikes were so evenly matched the racing was close. It can be altered. Having raced model cars with electric motors you can adjust the deceleration rate through an electronic speed controller. You can set it so the motor has the same effect as braking if you so wish when you shut off the throttle or basically as you shut off still kick out 99% throttle (not recommended). The same can be done for acceleration, aggressive or not aggressive. Could eliminate the need for so much gear changing, or just make it more adjustable.
  14. http://goo.gl/maps/WgLSE Very industrial, if I have the right place. Great news.
  15. For travel expenses and admission to a meeting I could generate "the smell". It won't be Castrol R, but it would definately get people talking.
  16. Assuming you start from scratch. Hall Green dog track Birmingham has always been muted as a good venue.... but neighbours raise the noise. Wasn't Ellesmere Port another one? I agree though land prices when starting from scratch will be a big/almost impossible hurdle.
  17. You aren't alone, I agree. To me speedway is the noise, the smell and the atmosphere of being around lots of people loving the same thing. Unfortnately the latter is now missing and the sport really should be doing something about it. Electric won't resolve the problems on it's own though, it may not even be part of the solution.
  18. That's not what I mean't. The sport needs to get back into the neighbourhoods, back into peoples back yards. While travelling by car is getting more expensive, the sport needs to be accessible on foot.
  19. I agree, but with the wrong side of 60 million people in the UK who have yet to be convinced noise is important to our sport. It is something worth exploring.
  20. Yeah.. forgotten he'd retired though, so re-edited my post lol.
  21. Why are people assuming it's not been approved/sanctioned by the BSPA? Sounds like a good idea. Be interesting to see what level it is aimed at, ie Premier League, Elite or both or even an opportunity to get the best in the world over who wouldn't normally want to commit to the British League. Gollob or Hancock anyone?
  22. I think you need to be easier on Chris and Kelvin. Trying to meet the needs of speedway in the UK and British speedway riders can't be easy and will be controversial at times. Talent and hard work will get noticed.
  23. This can get silly, even our last world champion wasn't born in Britain. Unfortunately it isn't black and white there are grey areas, provided they agree to ride for team GB then I don't see a problem.
  24. Make sure you tell them the reason you are dropping SKY when cancelling. I did, when I told them my package didn't cover all the sport channels and I only want it for the speedway anyway. As it was I only ever got to watch one maybe two gp's and the odd league meeting. They then said "You only want it for the what sir?", I said "speedway", he then repeated "the what sir?"
