  1. It's fair to say that people moving into an area, should not assume everything is all wrapped up by 11.00pm whatever is next door. You wouldn't move next door to a drinking establishment assuming it would be wrapped up by 11pm You wouldn't move next door to a supermarket and assume everything was wrapped up by 11pm So why a motorsport stadium? When working shifts never assume a neighbours kids will be quiet when you walk in from work at 7am. We are a 24 x 7 society.
  2. Where are this couple living now, while the house is in ruins?
  3. possibly 51 people out of work.... I hope the couple are happy with themselves.
  4. Bad news yes and a disgrace, but, the stadium didn't come up with proper evidence to their claims by the sounds of it. Also doesn't this just mean it goes back to the appeal court, so any injunction could still get thrown out? The stadium owners had claimed that they had become immune from proceedings as the activities had been continuing for at least 20 years. However, Lord Neuberger said that the evidence “fell well short” of establishing this. He said that, when and if the matter goes back before the judge for further consideration, he should be entitled to consider whether to discharge the injunction and award damages for future nuisance instead.
  5. Have you PM'd the OP? Might get an answer quicker. Fingers crossed you get an answer before tomorrow.
  6. I guess even though it isn't a Rolo, you'd hope he doesn't read anything into it, and gives you a big shiner.
  7. I do like the idea of big clubs dropping the big guns when riding against a smaller club. Could bring back weekend racing at top level to help crowds when a smaller club is in town. Perhaps each club could be graded A or B for that purpose. I like the idea of more variety. Something that the Premier League tends to give.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcvU3bYHUnA Gary Stead and Emil Kramer memories
  9. Probably like here, once used to it, everyone wants quality riders and won't turn out for anything less.
  10. There isn't that many "average" speedway supporters though.
  11. Doubling up just makes the rider shortage worse. There wasn't a huge problem when it was first introduced, but now when one rider retires, two sometimes three team spots go. It was introduced as a disguise to help develop riders, but now it's the norm to fill empty places. The BSPA need to address the root cause of rider shortage, otherwise the situation will just implode on itself.
  12. Elite League - Birmingham Positive - The thrill of watching a really good close race. Negative - The atmosphere, to honest, it's dire 99.9% of the time. To the point where sometimes I really wish I hadn't bothered going as I just don't get any buzz from it.
  13. GP's everytime. After the one off, I occasionally felt cheated as good riders dropped a chain and that was it, end of world final for them. oddly though, Tia winning the world championship has rekindled my brothers interest and he hasn't been since Tatum rode for Cov!
  14. Makes sad reading, always enjoyed and looked forward to my visits to Glasgow with the Brummies. The main stand had a good atmosphere. I would also include Berwick and Edinburgh in the same sentence.
  15. To be fair with Tai, his energy goes into his racing and obviously not out of his gob. Yeah yeah yeah....
  16. I guess you have evidence they were buzzing with charisma at such a young age? Or did the charisma come with experience.
  17. Is this the BBC's retaliation to the croppers mentioning the sport last week!!
  18. The powers that be should invite Roy Cropper to a meeting, in character with shopping bag and coat covered in defunct speedway badges. We could all play "Where's Roy" a bit of a Wheres Walley type game as I think he'd fit in so well, we'd struggle to find him in the terraces for the centre green interview.
  19. Roy Cropper, Morris Minors and Speedway. I think the sport has found it's trend level.
  20. I just do my own sheet, it smells and is a little sticky, but my gut feels better after making it.
  21. Hi Matt, I love it when you quote my posts..... I have to think before I answer... lol. I don't claim to know the whole concept of sales promotion, but why would a company use an outlet like Groupon anyway if it weren't cost effective in some way or another. I can only speak for Birmingham, but since the offers have been around, crowds have increased. The promotion have been pleased with the response. Yes, the profit margin drops and the break even crowd figure increases.... but there must be some gain to someone somewhere or, the Groupon's of this world wouldn't exist. Birmingham Speedway appears to be a discount speedway club, but it has to make money at the same time...... that's the clever bit.
  22. Kick up the backside Speedway needs perhaps? Sometimes hard times makes us work harder for the right reasons. Promote???... Groupon.... etc
  23. I agree, cuts through the politics and sets a target for the riders.
