  1. And hopefully be able to put their money where their mouths are!
  2. This is fantastic news... another opportunity to spread the gospel to the West Midlands that Speedway is the best sport around. What better for our own local teams that a local track is there to help bring on and nurture young men to help fill those elusive reserve berths with local riders. I hope the council see this as a fantastic opportunity to help youngsters train to earn a living and in turn help the local teams attendances by possibly having a local rider to cheer on. Hopefully one day we will see you in a Premier League capacity bringing fans together for a fantastic local Derby. Best of luck.... most of all keep fighting, Speedway and Planning is not an easy hurdle.
  3. I'm only guessing, but with the guys personal circumstances perhaps he took his eye off the ball and the purse strings. Businesses can make you a lot of cash, but they can also eat a lot of cash, sometimes beyond peoples personal means. I think it's best to look forward now, what has happened has happened. I wish every rider and fan of Mildenhall the very best for the future.
  4. A man with my sense of humour..
  5. I simply said "especially" as they were without Pedersen and were still in the running to win.
  6. Hi Dave, I hope it wasn't me who gave that impression, personally I think the lads did over and above what was expected of them and there was some good racing too. The point I'm trying to make is there is a huge gap between fourth and winning, if Harris, Nicholls or Richardson had picked up an injury just before the World Cup... what do we have as back up? The Danes especially and the Poles wouldn't have any kind of problem, if they suffered injuries of a similar nature, they'd still remain competitive.
  7. Yes, I have a lot of time for both Brian Buck and Brian Bott, you'll find at the top of the Cradley Heath supporters club you have the equivalent.
  8. Keep the faith... who'd have thought Birmingham would be back on track with our previously negative council. While there is still a fan base there is a way and this attempt by Nigel Pearson is to give it national exposure and hit the message home to Dudley MBC..... "YOU ARE NOT GOING AWAY!".
  9. Like trees says we have several issues that would stop this from happening: Availability of stadiums - As speedway is the tennant and shared with other sports some tracks can only get access to the stadium a few hours before their meetings. Planning laws - I order to get speedway at the venue in the first place, the speedway is only only allowed to use the stadium for 28 days per year for 2 1/2 hours! There are exceptions of course, but would an opposing team let one of it's challengers use their track to practice on. I doubt it. It seems that Polish local government have a much higher value of speedway within the comunity than our own. Our local government in many cases perceive it to be a nusense and would block any such applications to allow our teams to practice. Which is a shame as it proves the Polish system works very very well. We should learn from it.
  10. To be honest I don't really care if they won with Holta in the team or not.. if The Team GB manager got a knock on his door saying Emil Sayfutdinov is now on a UK passport due to marrying is girlfield Brenda Pissweed.. he would be in the team like a shot.
  11. I'm not a follower of Polish speedway, although I may begin to from now on. Most of the riders who ride in the British leagues are very rarely local to their home track. Are Polish team riders from the local vicinity of their respective tracks? Obviously Polish riders will and do travel to ride in their contracted Swedish/Danish/German/UK teams. But if you are local to your main Polish club it would make practice easier and if teams insist on practice (like a footballers training and fitness session) then it could be a culture thing?
  12. A good point... but then there is the roote cause as to why the other nations want to practice? Do their respective organisations insist in order to be selected again? Do their respective organisations pay them to do so via sponsorship? Joking apart all those that represented Team GB are professionals, but also business people in their own right.. maybe that is the problem?
  13. They tried to incorporate the flag of St David... but it looked naff: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/99/New_Union_Flag_proposal_by_Liam_Roberts.png/800px-New_Union_Flag_proposal_by_Liam_Roberts.png Get off your high horse, not all from the Celtic countries of the UK are anti English. They just like to beat us a sport... just as we like to beat them at sport too.
  14. I wouldn't waste your breath salty. I think just about everyone realises you can only get so much out of what you have. The Poles are where they are because they have a raft of riders coming through. The Aussie would have been there if they fielded the strongest team and look at the quality riders coming through. The Danes have them coming through the ranks. The authorities really need to get a grip because if Team GB are successful on the world stage, it might filter down to better attendances here.
  15. Sorry still don't get the logic. I could understand if you are second generation Dane living in the UK, but if you are UK born and bred to UK parents. It's akin to Arsenal fans cheering on the French in the football world cup...
  16. ... Just a thought.. something for the smelting pot, we all know Mildenhall has a history but has anyone thought of rebranding to kick it off again. It works well in other spheres, where do most the fans live? Perhaps the name "Cambridge", "Bury St Edmonds" or "Thetford" at Mildenhall or even do like Somerset have done? Might give it a more geographic name for fan recognition and sponsorship etc etc. I know it's not my place, but there must be a way to grab new fans in the area.
  17. Well if the court case does go in the resident's favour... I'd suggest buying some cheap mopeds take off the silencers and make as much noise down her street as you possibly could.
  18. Isn't the debt owned by the previous promoters company....? If you don't buy the company, you don't have the debt. But if the out going promoter says he is going to lose 17-18K then I guess that is an idea as to what he will want for the license. I wish every Mildenhall fan the best of luck and as with previous seasons it seems you are a passionate bunch. Lets hope 2011 brings much welcome news.
  19. The lady in the yellow..... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
  20. Why all this jealousy over the Pole's? They are where they are for one simple reason, they entertain the best riders in the strongest speedway league in the world. Give them credit where it is due, they have never lost a race until the chequered flag. They are entertaining to watch, it pains me to say it but yesterdays meeting would have been very boring if Polnd were replaced by team GB. It would have been very processional.
  21. I've been to Wolverhampton too .... you can keep your Elite League.
