World U21 Goes To Argentina
Bavarian replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
You are right, the track at Aldea Romana, a suburb of Bahia Blanca, is primarily a midget car track and belongs to the Club Midgistas del Sur. The speedway motorcycles used to race at a different venue in the town (the Club Dublin's Carlos Gertiser Stadium in the quarter of San Martin). This was the traditional home for solo speedway in Bahia Blanca for next to half a century. But this venue has become run down in recent years and would need major improvements to pass the stricter safety regulations now. The Federation decided it was better to join forces with the midget car club and use the same track for cars and bikes. Seemingly in Argentina, unlike in Aussie or NZ, there don't seem to be any problems for the bikes to run on the same track surface as the cars. -
I feel that Sweden will be up there with the Poles this year. They have announced a pretty strong national squad for the 2011 SWC: - Andreas Jonsson - Jonas Davidsson - Fredrik Lindgren - Daniel Nermark - Peter Ljung - Thomas H. Jonasson - Mikael Max - Antonio Lindbaeck - Dennis Andersson - Simon Gustafsson - David Ruud - Linus Sundstroem - Peter Karlsson

Any idea which British track may host the one Final to be staged in the UK on September 29th? -

Amazing if it comes true. It makes sense to run two rounds in Argentina. It shows how ambitious the Argentineans are. Australia and USA take note! The world under 21 Championship will then become a world u-21 SGP series. I hope that they can sell the TV rights because this would make good entertainment watching in on TV. -
I really can't see what is so exciting about those sprint car races.
-
But this run-off is only for second and third positions. The winner of the meeting is Emil Sayfutdinov. And what an impressive performance from the other two Russians Artem and Grigori Laguta, only held back by mechanical problems. Russia will be a force in the World Cup this year, especially so with the finals to be held on a Polish track. That Gorzow track surely suits them!

Only one camera and no commentator since there is no TV coverage of this meeting. But at least here You can see all the action live from Bydgoszcz

Holta has already stated that if PZM ban him from riding in the Swedish League he will take out a Norwegian license again. I'd love to have him back to represent his country Norway again officially in the Grand Prix. But in Poland his remarks have caused quite a stir, they call him traitor already. A swithc back on a Norwegian license would of course make him a foreigner again in the Polish league and cause problems for him on this front. Don't know what his new club Torun thinks of this idea. They have signed him as a "Polish" rider.

Thanks Bryn for putting this right. Yes I was of the opinion that the Sittingburne team refered to in this thread is that of the new venue at the Greyhound Stadium, not the Iwade training track. By the way, I read that "Sittingbourne" hosts a round of the new British Youth (u16) Championship later this year. I thought this would be on the new venue, but from what You write, it will more likely be at the Iwade track. Is that correct?

Grand Prix Speedway 2011

Or a Norwegian! -
Oh that's funny to hear Anni Friesinger speak Dutch! I must say the old Ice stadium had much more room for the spectators. Capacity now is down to just over 5,000. The new indoor stadium is of course primarily built for ice skating events. The roof is of course convenient in case of bad weather, but otherwise for motorcycle ice racing I'd prefer the old outdoor stadium. On the other hand, why should I care, as I am not really interested in ice racing anyway. It's a Russian affair!

Quite interesting. Sittingbiourne could run a few open meetings later this year. I really begin to enjoy the National League. It's good entertainment on a level that reminds me of the 1970's National League. There are famous clubs like Belle Vue, Hackney and teh Heathens, and the team have British riders, not some Poles Danes or Czechs as in the EL and PL. And admission fees are more reasonable. I am all for the NL from now on. No scandals either!

Does thism ean no Polish riders in teh British Leagues this year???? What next??? The world's gone mad!

There was a Norwegian rider at Belle Vue in 1929. His name was Paul Sande.

Elf International Series 2011
Bavarian replied to speedyguy's topic in International World of Speedway
Jade Mudgway won, Nermark second and Hawkins third in the final. Jesper Kristiansen set a new track record in a heat race. Sidecars, instead of apairs event, apparently rode a NZ eliminator for the world champs - if that November 2011 meeting at Murray Bridge, Sth Aussie goes ahead. -
accepted, if Saturdays at Poole are blocked by the dogs. Maybe their regular Wednesday night could be used for this F.I.M. meeting, but I am aware that such meetings are usuallly always held on a weekend date. But I remember in the old days, Wembley used to stage even the world finals on their regular Thursday night. Anyway, the Polish League clubs will not be amused with this move by the British authorities.
-
If Coventry could run this meeting on Saturday July 23, why can't Poole??? Why bring all the international fixtures into turmoil? Is this some retaliation action against the Polish League, with Matt Ford trying to disrupt their Sunday fixtures?

Great news that Daniel McKinley is back on a speeway bike. He's a good one!

..coming to England for the start of the season, where no Jungle Bundy will be allowed to ride in the National League. What a shame! -

Yes indeed. This looks promising with a track big enough for some real speedway racing. -

Unfortunately the world champion, the great Gollob, has to withdraw. He has caught a fever and is not able to ride. -
If no Foreign riders are allowed to ride in the NL anymore, so be it. It may open another door, to bring back international touring teams to ride against clubs or representative British/ English/Scottish/Welsh teams. In addition to the annual visits of the American Dream Team and the Nordic Vikings, invite some other country's touring teams to the UK. International tests at Junior/National League level would add spice to the NL clubs' fixture list. It is great that the Aussies want to organise an Australia v England U21 series down under next season. The English should do the same over here and invite a team of up-and-coming young Colonials to these shores.
