Subedei replied to Fingersfin's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree. British speedway is suffering a slow lingering death and only radical and painful surgery can save it. Look at Poland a few years ago, where the clubs were forced to look inwards for riders because of restrictions of foreign riders. All of a sudden new faces emerged, giving Poland the critical mass of riders required. Maybe the UK leagues need to go weaker to emerge stronger and healthier. It surely can't go on as it is. -

My guess is the GPs will implode under IMG. They'll come up against powerful vested interests. My guess is that they'll consider some sort of central contract situation where the top riders are contracted to them, rather than individual clubs and try to dictate where and when they'll ride. This will bring conflict with the powerful leagues such as Poland and Sweden. -
And a good few people would say that Wroclaw are even stronger than Czestochowa.

It's thoroughly shameful that this serial failure and serial beggar is in the GPs again. Has he no pride? Has he no shame? Has he no honour? Has he no integrity? Has he no decency? -

It seems that possibility may exist.

Badly. Maybe riding for BSI's sapping his enthusiasm for the sport.

So, a couple of clubs, Leszno and Rzeszow, made use of the new double points Tactical Ride. And on both occasions they produced good heat advantages. Nicki P starts the season with a 21 point maximum, while the only other maximum man was Torun's Karol Zabik, with 13+2, including inflicting the only defeat of the afternoon on Adams. But would the biggest surprise be Peter Ljung's splendid 12+2 for Tarnow?

I'd imagine that, unless Ole Olsen is bringing in track staff from outside Poland, the track will be prepared just the way young Gollob and company want it prepared. Olsen's word might be law everywhere else, but there's a higher authority when it comes to Poland. -

New Format On Last Years Results
Subedei replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Under the old formula, that was not possible - under the new one, it is. Theoretically, a rider could win each and every single GP, yet still not be world champion under the new formula. As the young fellow points out, in Sweden last year, Crump would've won the GP, but Hancock would've scored more points. If this were replicated over the whole series, Crump would've won each GP, yet Hancock would be world champ. -

I believe under the new rules Jason Crump would still've won - he just wouldn't have scored the most points. The winner of the final is the GP winner, regardless of points scored.
