Excuse me? Doesn't the fact that they chose to enter the qualification process and saw it through to completion suggest they "WANT" to be there? Or am I missing something?

Wasn't at reserve today young fellow - he was at No 4, with Klecha at No 8. Edit: Well, might as well put them here and save creating another thread. Scored 18 points from 7 rides at Bydgoszcz today - would you bet against it?

2007 Line Up - Any Thoughts
Subedei replied to NJT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not, strictly speaking, true. The world final's home nation, whether that be Britain, Poland, Germany, wherever, always had a seeded spot available should none of their riders qualify. -
2007 Line Up - Any Thoughts
Subedei replied to NJT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Made the final in Krsko and Eskilstuna this season - that's as many finals as Leigh Adams has made and more than Nicholls. I agree that's probably what BSI are thinking right now - Jagus' victory has spoiled their chances of bringing in Kolodziej. But, PK? PK has hardly set the GPs alight when he's been in them. I see no reason for that to change. And Jagus would still have qualified without yesterday's meeting finale - Holta would've missed out, not Jagus. Lindback will be safe - he's the type of rider BSI want around. Agreed, but with Iversen enjoying the protection of Olsen and Richardson seeming to have more GP lives than a cat, nothing would surprise me. Made GP finals in Slovenia and Sweden so far this season. And he's likely to qualify on merit. Anyway, BSI won't want to lose such a charismatic figure from the circus. -
And where in Poland will the great man be riding next season? It seems that cash-strapped Tarnow may not be able to afford to keep Gollob next season and it looks like he has a fair few clubs chasing his signature. Could an emotional return to Polonia Bydgoszcz be on the cards, or will Marta Poltorak lure him to Rzeszow? http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/polishleague/a6677

2007 Line Up - Any Thoughts
Subedei replied to NJT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
With the Bydgoszcz GP still to come, you don't think Tomasz Gollob, already in the top 8, will stay there? Highly unlikely. And anyway, BSI won't want to lose Gollob, or Hampel, but maybe domestic considerations will mean they want Kolodziej in there. What are they to do? -
And the arguement for qualifying over nominating is, of course, that Hans Andersen wasn't deemed worthy of a nomination for this season, while Lee Richardson was. Qualifying is infinitely superior.
-
You were saying Subedei? Jagus wins the final and spoils BSI's plans - how will they fit Kolodziej into the GPs next season after this? They'll not want to lose Gollob or Hampel, that's for sure. Congratulations to Jagus, Andersen and Holta (two out of three in my prediction isn't too bad - PePe let me down). Hard luck to PK, but he never really shone in the GPs.
-
Anyway, top marks to the VMS Elit site for giving heat details in English as well as Swedish - much appreciated.
-
Can't see Jagus getting through now. Andersen, PK and Holta it is - they were the favourites and they've done the business. Not sure how happy BSI will be - neither PK nor Holta have pulled up many trees in the GPs. But I guess they'd be most upset if Jagus had made it.
-
I can't see PePe beating Jagus under any circumstances other than a Jagus fall or engine failure - the Poles will team ride if Jagus is in trouble.
-
No wonder he's so popular (when he shows) at Swindon: "Gafurov tried a "wall-of-death-ride" to pass Laukkanen but didn“t make it."
-
Holta makes light work of gate 1 to claim a final place. Stead helps himself to another last place.
-
Absolutely. And that was probably back in the days when a GP had more than 16 riders. Stead will never, ever be 16-rider GP standard. Not ever. Never.
-
And it is 11 points for Harris - a worthy and noble performance from him. I don't think he'll make the final, but he's given a good account of himself. The competition was very tough.
-
I'd say the final will be: Andersen PK Jagus Holta A 2nd won't do for Harris - Holta has an easier final heat and will win it.
-
Can Gafurov throw a cat among the pigeons here? I think Holta will struggle for the final unless he gets a 1st or 2nd in Ht 16.
-
Harris is looking handily placed for the final - 9 points after 4 heats. Only cloud on the horizen is, he's up against Andersen in his final outing.
-
Of course he would - he'll never, ever, as long as the sun is in the sky be GP standard. So why the hell do the Sky duo of Millard and Pearson keep talking about him as a GP star of the future?
-
Holta, PK and Andersen in Ht 16 - could be tears before that one's finished - Jagus a relatively easier task in Ht 15. This could get very interesting.
-
And Stead, Nigel Pearson's tip for grand prix superstardom falls by the wayside - hard to see him qualify after running a last.
-

Yes, a bit of a disaster for Jagus in Ht 10. But the Andersen bandwagon keeps rolling on.
