Ekstra Liga Grand Final - 25-09-05
Subedei replied to Subedei's topic in International World of Speedway
Ah well, Sky have been wrong before and they'll be wrong in the future. Who cares? Sophie Blake is gorgeous. Does Polsat have a Sophie Blake? What was the racing like tonight? Tomasz Gollob looked to be in his usual Bydgoszcz form, except for Ht 4 when Klecha and Pepe 5-1ed him, although the updates seemed to suggest that Pepe spent most of the heat fighting off Gollob's attacks. -

Sky Sports in the UK actually said he'd signed a 2006 contract with Bydgoszcz at the reception on the eve of the Bydgoszcz GP. -

Did a helicopter show up and whisk the Tarnow team off to their stadium? Jacek looked to have a super meeting for someone injured. I doubt a few bottles bothered him too much. But you're right, it isn't on. -

And Tarnow not only win on aggregate, they also win on the night as well. With TR and TG leading the way and a super-valuable contribution from Jacek Gollob as well. If he was carrying an injury, he carried it very well, scoring 7 from 3 before Tarnow rested him. -
I'd say they stand a better chance. They're young and hungry, not smug and complacent, we'll be okay because we're British.
-
But unless they're given a chance they're never going to prove themselves. Who'd have said Hampel was worth a go when he was entered after winning the world under-21? But he proved he was worth it by automatically qualifying. And so would a few of those I list. Give them a go and let them prove themselves. At the minute it's "as you were". The top 8 are more or less inviolate, because those beneath them in the circus aren't good enough to trouble them. The circus needs new blood and that's what I'm proposing with my "picks". The status quo doesn't work. Of those so far named, only Hampel has a realistic chance of penetrating the top 8. And he'd have been there, but for injury.

If that's the case, Loram would sell more tickets than either Richardson or Nicholls.
-
And why do we have to have British no-hopers in the GPs? There's a Czech GP, but no Czech rider last season and there's a Slovenian GP but no Slovenian rider last season. And there's a British GP and for next season there should be no British rider.
-
My argument has always been that, now there is not qualification process, you have to have a set of rules that governs riders already in the circuit. My own personal "rule" is that if you don't qualify 2 seasons on the bounce you should be out. By that token Nicholls, Sullivan, Andersen and Richardson should be out. Replace them with younger riders fresh to the circus.

World Under 21 Team Cup - Line Up....
Subedei replied to jeffster's topic in International World of Speedway
Think I'd have money on Poland to win the SWC with that line-up. Especially if it was being held in Poland. -
And look at what Walasek did in the SWC. Or Pepe and Holta for that matter. So, as I understand it, the current rules for inclusion in the GP series as a formality are being British champion (as long as you're either Nicholls or Richardson) and finishing runner-up in the Polish GP (as long as you're Nicholls or Richardson). These rules are subject to change depending on what rules allow Nicholls and Richardson to compete in 2007.

Ekstra Liga Grand Final - 25-09-05

And Czestochowa beat Torun to the bronze medal, while Rzeszow beat Ostrow and will take Zielona Gora's place in the Ekstra Liga next season. Which means, if I'm not much mistaken, a couple of derby meetings between Rzeszow and near neighbours Tarnow. -
Try here: http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/news/a5277 It looks like the Polish sites all took the result off the base site you did. That site added up incorrectly and everyone else followed suit, probably. Ales Dryml scored 13 points in the 20 heats and then was last in the final. Lukas Dryml scored 15 in the 20 heats and won the final as well.

I'm a Mongol.

If they were "top" riders, they'd be in the top 8 and have qualified. They aren't and they didn't. They've failed and failed again. How many more chances for them to fail do you want them to have? Neither will be in the top 8 next season and you'll still want them there. And why? Because they're British. That's the only reason they'll be there next season. They certainly don't deserve to be there on merit.

Confirmed Wildcards Are.....
Subedei replied to SCB's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm not questioning Lindback's right to be included. He certainly had a promising debut season. I'm just suggesting that he might benefit from a season's break. -
Think you'll find it was 5 places. And it wasn't just the Eastern bloc. It was continental Europe, except for Sweden and Denmark. And thos 5 riders had to qualify. Anyway, if we're going on whether there are 7 riders better than Lee Richardson as a reason for inclusion, why the hell bother with a world championship at all? Why not just decide at the end of the season who the best rider in the world is and declare him world champion. Yes, that's the level of this debate. Lee Richardson deserves to be in because there's not 7 riders outside the pre-qualified top 8 that are better than him. Well, in that case, I say that Michael Lee was world champion in 1983 because he was the best rider in the world. Richardson and Nicholls have failed and failed. They should be out. The sole reason they're in is because they're British. They ought to be embarrassed and ashamed.
-
Name me 16 riders in the world that were better than Bobby Schwartz in his prime and then explain to me why he never featured in a world final. What's that? He didn't qualify? Okay. Neither did Richardson, nor Nicholls. End of story.
-
And on those big old tracks out East, they aren't half going fast when they hit the first bend. Looks to me like he tries to turn, but his back wheel bounces off the guy in blue's bike and he loses it.
-
I thought it might've been when I first heard about the crash. But, in fairness, they're all pretty spread out. It's just the guy in red loses it and ploughs into and through everyone else. A very nasty accident. And that fence certainly looks built to last. Think it'd have survived Hurricane Katrina.

Ekstra Liga Grand Final - 25-09-05
Subedei replied to Subedei's topic in International World of Speedway
And so the battle to replace Zielona Gora in the Ekstra Liga next season reaches a conclusion. Can PK's Ostrow defend their slender 4 point advantage over Rzeszow and progress into the promised land? Or will Rzeszow make home advantage count, overhaul the 4 point deficit and claim that Ekstra Liga place?
