One Day World Final?
andout replied to Sotonian's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I really don't mind how they do it this year, one, two or three + just as long as there is a World champion decided this year..... -
Thanks for all your comments......I too feel this is a bit of a fake.....No idea who the "Smiths" are either. I'll hang on to it...... Maybe Ronnie Smith was a Wimbledon rider.....LOL

There is no date, except for 1948.....it looks genuine, the paper looks like 1948 but I can find no record whatsoever of this meeting.......Any help would be appreciated.

On a quick look through the rules for this year the answer is no......but it does use the word "Series" so you have to assess that one! -
Thank You.....and you don't have a spare right?

Unfortunately I have never seen anything on the 1928 meeting.....probably another one of those "well lets put something out there and it will be taken as fact". Something like the "inventor" of Speedway.....but lets not start that one all over again! LOL

I do have a comment in a track listing that states Eastbourne had one meeting in September in 1928.....other than that I have no more info.

There are three Tracks within reach though.....all three in New York state......closest one, Owego but a 12 hour round trip!!!!

Died 10/11/1999 aged 92 And a guess, he retired after the 1947 season? Courtesy of Wikipedia but I don't trust that because even in this article it gives his death as 1999 and 2001.....never know a person die twice!!!!!

Just clicking on one of the team years Gustix has listed above seems to work....Try that.

I had forgotten about that........

I have been around a long time......I guess I'm also getting fed up with all the shares and copy / paste stuff on FB from him as well......a constant stream of duplicated stuff out there now. Makes it very boring.

You're dragging up stuff you already know, I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish. November 24, 2016....YOU said! New Cross Memories gustix posted a topic in Years Gone By ...I believed the race winner wasMick Mitchell, who away from the track was a school caretaker in Lewisham. Recently, I found out that Mitchell was not in that race - the winner was Belle Vue's Wally Lloyd. And, just for the record, New Cross won the challenge match 46-37. For the next 17 year... Due to health and safety directives issued by the government of the Czech Republic amid concerns over COVID-19 (coronavirus), the 2020 Anlas Czech Republic FIM Speedway Grand Prix, originally scheduled for 13 June, has been postponed until September. This decision was made after careful consideration and consultation with the FIM, BSI Speedway, ACCR (Autoklub České Republiky) and the Marketa Stadium promoter, with the well-being of riders and supporters remaining the top priority. The re-scheduled date in September will be announced in due course, with further event details to be made available as soon as they have been finalised. All tickets already purchased for the event will remain valid for the revised date, and ticket sales will re-commence on 1 August. FIM & BSI Communications
