  1. My top Finals of all that I went to, not that they were the best but it would be '62 because my hero won it.......and '66 in Sweden, being a West Ham fan....Sverre Harrfeldt coming in runner-up......
  2. Charlie Appleby info. here...... http://www.canadianspeedway.com/halloffame/charlieappleby.htm
  3. Smolinski says his goal is top six.......well done if he can do it.
  4. Good one Rob......Thanks....I now have a picture of an "Incontinent cow" in my mind.......Thanks for the laugh!!!
  5. Takes a bit of work but all the results for all the past years since 2005 are out on the Speedway GB website.... http://www.speedwaygb.co.uk/historyarchive 2012 for example lists Round 6 at Sittingbourne in September......
  6. I know a 24 rider, 4 per heat format has been used....the 1963 PLRC springs to mind........not sure I ever remember a 20 rider 4 per heat but I would guess it has occurred.
  7. My guess is though, he will back out of racing in the GP Qualifiers........
  8. North American Final result. 1 Billy Janniro2 Luke Becker3 Broc Nicol4 Gino Manzares5 Max Ruml
  9. OOps.....thought Curtis Sports still had them......they are sold out.... There is one out on eBay but I doubt you want to spend that kind of money on it!
  10. FIM used to present medals at all their events, not sure if they still so but as they have run offs for their events I assume they do! I am still pretty sure the 1968 and the 1969 Pairs are NOT recognised as World Finals. But as I said before, I would like to be proven wrong. I have BOTH programmes and they mention World Championship nowhere!
  11. You can see that I had mentioned Mauger on the previous page and my discussions about this. His medal though never said "World Championship" according to the man himself!
  12. I give up!!!! You win John......Like talking to a brick wall.....if you could only read what I stated would help immensely!
  13. Everything is more reliable than Wikipedia......Source for the recognition of 1968 and 1969......FIM!!!! What more do you want? how did 'Speedway Star' recognise these pairs championships? Because they wanted too!!!! Any way to get story whether true or not!
  14. Not really, since I do not accept Wikipedia as fact and nor should anyone even if it agrees with what you think. Nothing like doing your own research and getting the real facts! Someone can make 1968 and 69 Pairs Finals as World Finals in seconds........
  15. Had a long discussion once with Ivan Mauger while I was driving him to Owego, NY (12 hour round trip). He said to me quite emphatically that it was a "World Final" because he got an FIM medal for it, even though it did not say "World Champion. He did concede however that he also got FIM medals from other events. We never actually agreed!! LOL I have been looking around and I cannot find anywhere that, at least 1969 is considered a World Final.
  16. Not sure that is true.....would like to proven wrong though? There was talk once of doing this and also the 1968 Pairs in Kempten but I wasn't aware it had come to fruition.
  17. FFS John, please stop this nonsense.....you know this is not true and has been proven so. Please stop the usual nonsense of trying to "Never let the facts get in the way of a story".
  18. You have them......Speedway Champions site is accurate......
  19. "Make your own choice" what do you mean by that? It has been researched and proven from programmes and "Paris Match" magazine? What else do you need?
  20. You can look at the programme cover on the Speedway Championships website, all the riders are listed on that cover. Also, how we know we are correct in the finishing three they are listed in this 1934 programme. 1931 Lamont, Tauser, Bellissent 1932 Wilkinson, Bellissent, Killmeyer 1933 Meynier, Wilkinson, Lamont.
  21. Speedway Champions as far as I'm concerned is correct, we had many discussions between us several years ago and we think we have it right. I have the programme from 1934 and it is the FOURTH world championship held there.
  22. Thanks norbold....time play's tricks!
