Finally got my self together after celebrating yesterday's victory over Leszno . No major crowd riots at this one Rico Police made a buffer zone from the sector that seperates ZG and Leszno fans, so apart from belching out slogans at each other the crowd behaved. Wish all meetings would run like this one ...now i'm off to get some sleep.

It's going to be interesting to see how the Swedish league measures up to Poland and GB. The broadcasts will start in July with the first few matches being reruns, then halfway through the month live broadcast should begin. Question for our Swedish friends, is there already a TV station showing Eliteserien? I will post more details as they come in. tom

I read up on the memorial and the prizes were as follows, 1st 2000EUR, 2nd 1500EUR, 3rd 1000 and 4th 500EUR...sorry for the inaccurate post above. So I assume around the same as in GB, although I remember last years Piast Tournament in Wroclaw, Poland offered much bigger prizes than in Gorzow.

Jancarz Memorial: 1st place 3000 EUR, 2nd 2000EUR.......4th 500EUR can't remember in between

I got home safe and sound. When the riots started I was ready to leave the cage but security wouldn't let us out. This was the craziest sh*t I ever experienced, riot Police were pointing their rifles at us (with rubber bullets)! Normal fans were forced to bounce back between the right and left side of the cage to avoid getting hit by a flying 2x4,bottle or a cops knight stick. The whole mess escolated around heat 10 when hooligans from Leszno and ZG tried to clash at the barier dividing the visitors sector and the rest of the stadium, one of the riot cops fired a few warning shots in the air which had an short lasting effect as hooligans went back to throwing whatever objects they could get their hands on. To be honest Rico I didn't expect this kind of chaos that is why I invited you to the visitiors cage, if I knew this would happed I would opt out myslef and sit with the regular folks, last year was a picnic at leszno comparing to what we saw on Sunday.A big mistake by the organizers was not enough cops to secure the visitors sector and no "buffer zone" on the right side of the cage. Next time I'm in Leszno I'll defenitely sit in a neutral sector, i've had enough of this bullrubbish. I just hope that people who read this don't get an idea that Poland and/or Zielona Gora is some kind of a bastion for hooligans. This happens to be an isolated incident and happens very rarely. tom

correction, when Nicki was trying to overtake Balinski on the inside of the 2nd bend his throttle got stuck and his bike darted out from underneath him, fortunately just barely missing Balinski. pics from the meeting: sport.zgora.pl now u know cheers

This Gp Track Is Rubbish
tommy replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Returned from the SGP last night and I gotta tell ya, who ever stayed home saved a few quid and didn't miss much, the 20 euros wans't worth the crappy racing. The outside wasn't going at all untill the last 3 or 4 heats, which made it harder for guys like gollob and nicki to pass.Trick is in his own league, Lindback is also looking very promising, this is the second time I saw him in person and have to say this guy has predisposition to race speedway. ps. the track was total rubbish, I hate concrete-hard tracks, they take away from what speedway is all about. Now I'm to LEszno..cya! -

You won't ahve to be frogmarch back to the station , juust drop by....I'm pissed right now, just git back from a pub (champions league), I'm defenitely not involved with the hoolingans movement and you shouldn;t have a problem with visiting the "away team" sector which will also be filled with the "average folk" zielona gora fans, there's about 6 to 8 bus' coming down to Leszno from zielona gora.it'll be helluva of time!!! -

I think tomasz g. just had a bad day considering his points at Leszno, Jacek on the other hand is useless without his brother by his side especially in away meetings. yesterday I witnessed my team, ZKZ, get their ass whipped by a young and ambitious Torun side... still can't belive it, thats speedway though , but they needed a cold shower to wake them up for an important meeting in Leszno...it's gonna be hard to pick up the two points (day after wroclaw gp ).......'till next time!!!
