Oxford v Leicester - Weds 10 May
False dawn replied to PotteringAround's topic in National League Speedway
Anyone near to the stadium with a weather update. I'm over near Cheltenham and the amount of rain we've had here would definitely make any track unrideable -

It's interesting what you say as a (temporary) Leicester fan. In amongst a glittering list of names, Max Frick, Bomber and so on, Justin is surely the Lions signing of the year. He's scoring solidly in every meeting and seems to fear no one. Nick, on the other hand, who rode for the Lions last year, looks frustrated and possibly unsure what to do to regain his form. Belle Vue, recently grabbed a draw when we were 6 up with 2 to go and then won the Super(fluous) heat. Fair play to Nick, he "fronted it up" in the post meeting interviews but he was so upset that he couldn't speak. I wasn't cross, I really felt for him because it appeared he couldn't understand what had just happened. Maybe it's to do with his motors, I don't know. But I sense he's very competitive and it won't be long before we see him scoring good points again. -

Where did you pull that one from? And just out of interest what average would he come in on? -
I hope Joe gets a team spot somewhere else. As things stand, that'll be both brothers riding in divisions 1 & 3 but not 2. I know I've said it before, but the maths ain't working somewhere in that equation.

Leicester lions 2023 (PREMIERSHIP)
False dawn replied to PhilTheAce's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So unless someone leaked the pairs, there is something else to be announced tomorrow. Mind you, the pairs has gone from 7 rounds last year (well nearly) to a planned 3 rounds this year, to a 1 off. Maybe the big news is that we're going to give to Ipswich without the need for any racing whatsoever. I'll get my coat. -

Now that the Poles have started using Thursdays as one of their nights on several occasions this season already, they won't mind what nights we run on with our one big league next season? -

To be fair, it does say, "Weather permitting" in the small print of all forecasts -

One wonders why he hasn't got an identity crisis. -
Stay home. The forecast is awful.

Let's have a celebration. Get one or two riders back in the team(s) and make this a happy occasion. We all know this cup tie (!?) don't mean a monkey's proverbial, so let's have some fun. I know I want to beat Poole. And I guess I'm not alone in that. So let's shout at each other and have a beer afterwards (I think I owe you a beer SS. And Lisa, I'll buy you one too).

For those who weren't at the meeting or didn't stay afterwards you should know some of things Max said in interview post racing. He described himself as "The weak link" and his performances are "Just not good enough". So if anyone thinks he's just collecting the cash and doesn't care about the team, think again. -
The future of British Speedway after the 2023 season
False dawn replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It's seems inevitable we'll end up with one league. If not next season, then in the next 2-3 years. So why not bite the bullet sooner rather than later? -
So "You've gone to the dogs" then?

Poole v Oxford - Good Friday
False dawn replied to stevehone's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I remember well when Ole Olsen rode for Coventry (I know, I'm getting old !!). He got booed everywhere and by everyone. He was being interviewed on the centre green after a meeting at Wolverhampton. He was obviously amused by the booing and announced to the fans, "You do know that the louder you boo, the faster I go". Not a bad "put down" I thought. -
Emil Sayfutdinov and Co bring in the crowds?
False dawn replied to Phil's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I really hope I'm wrong. But I have some serious doubts about Leicester "moving up" this year. Of course I want to see Doyley and Emil get beat, nearly as much as I wanted us to beat Poole (not really, bring back Poole, we want to stuff you). Seriously, the Leicester promotion have taken quite a risk They have invested a deal of cash in the stadium and have shelled out for a pretty good team. But moving the senior team meetings from Saturday to Thursday is no small thing in itself. The team have had a large and very loyal following. I hope they all, and a few more, continue to pay to support the second best team in the country. Lions, for now. Bees forever. -
Ipswich v Belle Vue 13th April
False dawn replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
We had Tom at a Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club meeting last year. Obviously, meeting a rider and listening to him, at length, in interview, doesn't necessarily translate into how he behaves on track. But I have to say, I look forward to the next time I hear him speak with some anticipation. A consummate profession, who demonstrates all the attributes of a future champion (excuse me, a current World Champion). If he rode for a team near me, I'd go and watch him ride. Footnote: Tom declared his devotion to British speedway, in spite of the obvious temptations of those Polish (sometimes) pay masters. I have no axe to grind when it comes to Charles. But reports of any team mates falling out, in such a public way, seems to me to be rather unseemly. Or am I just old fashioned? (or just old?) -

I hope. for your sake, that Jason, Emil and Danny aren't slow burners or your in for serious grief -
I think both brothers have shown some real promise. Zach is the lesser light (thus far) but it is very early days. If he was in my team I'd be very happy and patient just now.
