I don't understand why in speedway the covers aren't attached to the top of the fence and angled in towards the infield. Undo the straps and roll them out. Job done. 2 hours work at most. -

I'll ask again then... I still don't understand the constant sandcastle references? No it isn't - Football attracts bigger crowds. -

If it's costing him thousands, why doesn't he pay for the track covers and pay for people to lay them? A whole track could easily be covered by a couple of people in a couple of hours. -

Because is just about the most professional sport going and this is what just about any sport with serious ambition will strive to be as professional as. I disagree about your point on it not being a team sport. I'm not naive enough to think riders don't see the Grand Prix as being the holy grail of the sport but team speedway is the best form their is in every country. I refer back to marketing again, it amazes me how inept speedway promotor's are at marketing. They have to get the basics right first. The first part of any brand or image that you are trying to sell is the associated colour and then in speedway terms, the team nickname. I've said many times before it amazes me aswell that teams haven't adopted what Kings Lynn done a few seasons ago where every rider all had matching fork covers with the team colour and main sponsor on. In any photo of a speedway rider the one place every time you can pick out a sponsor is on the fork covers... Why do you think in every grand prix that's where the main sponsor is? Because their marketing is actually good! -

I can't wait to see Kane in a green shirt at the World Cup, Dele Ali in a yellow one and Lingard in a blue one... with an England bib over the top. We'd be a laughing stock. All I see here after reading this thread is people who watched speedway in the 70s and 80s "it was better in our day". Marketing is massive nowadays and it makes sense that it is better to market something that looks more professional than a multicoloured jigsaw puzzle. -

I'm well aware of the reasons - But he seems to be getting on just fine at Somerset. It's not very often you see it but his away average is actually higher than his home average. It's been no secret he's never been a massive fan of the OTA, he's shown signs in the last few home meetings of having some real speed so once he's properly sussed the OTA he should only get better as the season progresses and properly establish himself as a heatleader as back up to Doyley. -

Absolutely - I think he's been our star performer so far this season. Although Doyle has top scored most of the time, he still hasn't got back to his best just yet but young Holder is proving to be a great addition to the side. Poole must be sick when they've got Grajczonek who went the other way and is performing pretty poor. -

Kerr rode at reserve last year for Somerset too. He's just had a good start to the season that is all and moves into the main body of the team I believe from tomorrow. -

Well well well I certainly didn't see that one coming! I only said after the Swindon hammering on Monday all we need is the odd point and a couple of wins away assuming we keep up our home form and we will do just fine! A great result regardless of Iversen missing. Poole fans must be pig sick at Holders scores for us. What a revelation! -

Think that's being optimistic. We need Masters to have an absolute stinker to get anything from this. -
Saturday Night Racing...The Rye House Predicament!
Najjer replied to Speedwaycrazy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I've said it before already but I'll say it again - The Premiership is the top division and therefore should take priority over anything else and the rest should fall in line. Promotors should of been ruthless at the AGM and hammered home the Monday and Thursday fixed race nights and not been put off by Ipswich, Redcar and Sheffield. The fact that Denmark is taking priority over Britain on a Wednesday is an absolute shambles position to be in. I read on here somewhere the other day that Robert Lambert is meant to miss Kings Lynn visit to Poole because he is due to ride in Denmark. How has it come to that? Shambles. -

What a farce. Only the UK promotors and authorities could make an absolute hash out of fixed race nights. -

Najjer replied to ReadingRacer2017's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I certainly don't think any changes are required. This team is capable of hammering just about anybody at home on their day and picking up the odd point here and there. They just need a couple of wins and that would be enough for the play offs I would imagine assuming we keep our home form up. There is no doubting Richard Lawson needs to up his game however. He's scoring very well for Lakeside but another poor away score. He is on paper our main back up to Doyley and he hasn't been doing it at home or away as of yet. It was suggested the other day and I think a swap between him and Jack Holder in the riding order would be of much more benefit. -

Wilson-Dean has been at reserve all season with Jake Allen in the 1-5. So from the 1st of June they swap with Wilson-Dean going to the main body and Allen to reserve. -

They aren't effective until the 1st of the month, so Jake Allen remains in the main body and Wilson-Dean at reserve. -
No over riding on Wednesday, he was just beyond awful. Probably the worst visiting rider so far this season.

Poole v Wolves Premiership A. 23/5/18
Najjer replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Why? Whilst nobody wants to see anybody get injured, it happened so it's not like anybody should pretend it didn't. It's probably one of the biggest talking points of the meeting so of course it should be focused on whether he's injured or not! -
Not sure why any team would sign him or his brother. Both liabilities and accidents waiting to happen.
-
Yes absolutely, credit where credit is due. It was a strange night with some really good racing albeit not the masses of passing we have become used to and almost now expect. It just shows you don't need loads of passing to make for exciting close racing. Heat 15 last night was the best example of that. On a side note, lets hope Richard Lawson gets going soon. He's been relatively poor at home for us this season so far.

Isn't Sundstrom a 7.5 rider give or take? So he didn't exceed his average. Grajczonek scoring 7 isn't exceeding his average. More often than not, the team which wins the league I'd bet at least 5 of the team up their averages over the course of a season.
