  1. Having supported Swindon in both the EL and PL (and Glasgow in the PL), I have to say that both leagues have their merits. It is good to see the stars but more importantly it is good to see close racing where you can "throw a blanket" over all the riders during a race. The EL has two races in one just about every race because of the EDR situation. I have to say that I really enjoyed last night (always good to get one over Edinburgh ) and I haven't seen (or heard) a crowd like last night for many a year (except for Cardiff). The EL playoffs used to bring the crowds out but over the last few years (probably because the weather has been poor), the crowds haven't been turning up in the same numbers and certainly not with an atmosphere like last night. Last night was a good advert for speedway - whatever league it is and I'm sure people watching for the first time may want to go to their local track to experience it first hand - can you imagine what they will do when they turn up at a standard EL venue with no crowd and no atmosphere? Up the Robins! Up the (Glasgow) Tigers!
  2. It means nothing that he is a Berwick asset - riders will ride where they want to ride. If he has a great season with Glasgow and he wants to stay and they want to keep him - it will happen.
  3. I trust Poole will be fined for fielding an under-strength team!
  4. Well done to the Tigers That is what a speedway crowd should look and sound like on TV - well done to the promotion and fans. For all the moaners, the rain had an impact on the track and track is usually deeper than tonight which makes for great racing!
  5. If it is £40,000 - that is still about £3.64 per head - surely not?
  6. I saw an interesting news story on the Darcy Ward Foundation website http://www.darcywardfoundation.com/NewsDetail.aspx?NewsID=8. Surely those figures are wrong? If they made £4,000 on admissions alone and a crowd of 11,000 that equates to an average entry fee of 36.5 pence!
  7. Well you know the answer to that one - you're getting as bad as the paperboy and the shovel! Ok - nowhere near as bad Just so we are all clear - no he can't as he isn't in any declared EL 1-7 (and he doesn't have a PL average)
  8. Probably because Leicester have the strongest pairing!
  9. What PL teams do Doyle, Morris, Sedgmen ride for? Answer none! As for that Lakeside team, I can't really disagree
  10. Imagine if PUK didn't ride for KL this year. Not a well balanced team and Troy and Kai (and a lesser extent Mads) have cost them tonight. Well done to the Bees - Bates looks to be improving.
  11. Batch still struggling - first corner he shut off rather than risk anything and that's where he stayed. Who would have thought that KL would be 8 down after 3 heats? Batch back to Swindon anyone?
  12. Maybe he's lowering his average to come back to Swindon to replace Tungate Only joking - I think.
  13. Speedway shooting itself in the foot again re: Masters. How can it be right that a rider declared in a team's official 1-7 is sitting in the stands watching (without injury) while a guest takes his place in the team? Total madness! Don't think it would have changed the result but surely the whole situation is wrong!
  14. Oops - my bad I thought it was 22 June i.e next week - it's Friday and I'm tired
  15. You tell us - you seem to know everything Davey Watt I assume the younger Aussie is Rohan? Davey on his day would be an improvement on Rohan but sadly his scores this year don't support that.
  16. Bomber is one of the best team men around and has a never give up attitude when racing. I enjoy watching him miss the gate, hunt down the race leader (right up his exhaust pipe as shouty man 1 and 2 would say) and win going over the line. However, on the individual stage, he always seems to struggle and is very much like Andy Smudger Smith used to be. He should concentrate on league racing as that's where his strengths lie.
  17. Nothing to do with the EL - thread should be closed and moved
