  1. That's good news indeed Bryn... The weather system south of the River as opposed to north of it is invariably different as I've noted many times but as I say here it's shocking... Let's hope it does indeed pass over and head north...: where it belongs!!!
  2. Oh dear absolutely shocking weather where I am in Barking just 8 or so miles from the track... Very heavy rain... Let's hope this goes away and/or there's that uniquely different weather system over the quarry otherwise this looks a goner...: again...
  3. I know how you feel... I wrote my stuff for Stoke v. Buxton last week and that got mysteriously called off too..! And, inspired by your earlier 'pitch' Mimmo, I was coming up for this one tomorrow so am gutted it's bitten the dust...
  4. Indeed. That's the Richard I know. One of the nicest and most genuine people in the sport.
  5. Check this out from ebay... This is unusual... What was this, midget car racing..? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rare-Original-1930s-Lea-Bridge-Car-Speedway-Badge-/300569386824?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item45fb54df48
  6. Oooh, far be it from me to defend the Met Office but can assure you in the 'Lakeside' part of Essex the weather is bloody awful and on this occasion the correct decision was made.. Flaming June...? I flaming don't think so!!
  7. That's good - look forward to meeting up then!
  8. Whilst I agree that's sensible, bearing in mind the forecast (which couldn't be clearer that it's gonna be awful...); I do wonder - as ever - what the chances are the sainted Met Office have got it wrong again... It rained shockingly today...: we await and see now if it is gonna do so tomorrow... Lokking forward to July 8 though!
  9. Ah right, I have to admit I'd either forgotten that or in fact never knew!!
  10. Morley would win that race even if not fit..!?
  11. Barrow Happy Faces - that's an all-time blooper! And Hackney haven't actually been the 'Awks since 1983 - so those jackets and prog boards would have to be VERY old!! Mind you plenty of Leicester Lions' ones reappeared at Beaumont Park and they also date back at least that far!!
  12. More enthusiasm (and far better promoted...) for the Hawks 'project' at Arena Essex/Lakeside.. Friday's an important date in that respect with the second stand-alone Hackney fixture at AE - and a more 'normal' one as not involving the very well supported as an away side, Dudley... It's IoW on Friday..
  13. Indeed. Have thought that myself - I wonder why he doesn't just go with that as a policy for NL matches... Would be IMHO an even bigger winner with the Hackney meetings..
  14. Is that true..? Never recall there being big crowds other than when Uncle Len let punters in for free...
  15. Absolutely. Let's buck the depressingly normal trend on here and be POSITIVE... There ARE people (serious people...) looking into options for the return of Speedway to the Lea Valley area of East London (yes I do effectively mean Olympic Park..) and I wish people could see that a successful 'Hackney' project this year, and hopefully next, COULD play a part in making that more likely... It certainly could only help... Whinging about no cod at Rye really ISN'T gonna help!!
  16. Oooh er, do be careful, I once upset said NL guru so much by a similar description, he now point blank refuses to attend Tea Parties with me any more!!
  17. I've missed the story... Why is it that the 'powers-that-be' say young Cameron can't ride for the FTs..? Personally I can't conceive on how this a whole Heeps different (!) from any other of very many Anzacs who have appeared in the third tier over the past decade..?!
  18. Yep fair play...: it doesn't sem that much less complicated, I'll give you that!!!
  19. Well apart from Friday (!!! ) I'm guessing it must have been 1983 when there last a Heathens vs Hawks fixture! If you count the Kestrels version of Hackney then, what the last home Cradley/Hackney fixture would've been, er, 1987 I suppose... Though I don't know how anyone cares to count 1996... That was the last time there was a league side at the Wick but it was called the London Lions and the Heathens for their part, were in exile at Stoke... All very confusing...: let's hope tomorrow's less complicated but very exciting!!!
  20. ROCCO SCOPELLITE.. That HAS to be the best name for a Speedway rider EVER!!
  21. You've missed the piece in the Star this week containing quotes from Lee & Henry which are none too complimentary and saying they intend to replace Nick..
  22. Oh and I hate to have to do this, wot with peace and goodwill broken out, but this was heat THREE - when young Master Hopwood began his very out-of-sorts evening by ploughing thru' our Ian's carefully prepared tapes! BTW for details of the pre-meeting races please see: http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=63670&pid=1942344&st=0entry1942344
  23. Many thanx for clearing up both issues, oh Brynmeister!! Next time join in a pint of the smooth-stuff won't ya!!
  24. I do agree - I was pretty shocked to read that too... I guess all one say is that Michael Lee is one for speaking his mind... Though seemed a tad harsh that not just Michael but also Rob Henry are seemingly quoted being really a bit too scathing for the benefit of the confidence of a young man who has IMHO always given 100% out on track for the Fen Tigers...
  25. Hmm, interesting that as, TBH, I'm never sure whether a tapes offence amounts to it being officially called a 'rerun' or not... Personally I usually do call that a rerun but I think in the Star match details it usually isn't defined this way... One could argue an offence at the starting gate means the race has never officially started and certainly when the tapes are left tangled around the bikes at the start there's no need for the ref to stop the race... One thing I did (I think...) get wrong in my prog was in heat 12 - there was a very dramatic and almost catastrophic fall from a challenging Heathens rider on the last bend and I marked the faller down as Tom Perry. Looking at the scorers though I guess I must've got the identity of the faller wrong and it was in fact Tom's partner in that race, Darryl Ritchings... Can someone confirm please..?!
