But if one is bringing out a book which is the history of Speedway tracks and, er, is heavily illustrated -how many titles do you think are available accurately to describe it... -

Glad to hear this good review! I always thought that announcer at Iwade was a rather handsome fella!! -

Sadly not... Am at sweaty gig in Shepherd's Bush instead tonight... Well you know what they say, there's nothing like a sweaty Bush...! -
NL track record broken at Mildenhall on Sunday. Adam Roynon in 49.85 secs

Terry Day is another without a team slot this year - I was talking to his Dad on the way back from yesterday's IoW meeting.. As has been said, Mark was AWESOME last night - and I'd be astonished if he's not in a team (NL or even PL) very soon...

Kevin Rowand - New Ice Speedway Rider
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to Puma23's topic in International World of Speedway
 VERY good! -
Hmm, more than a tad harsh... In Mark & Aaron, you're looking at essentially the heart and soul of Sittingbourne Speedway club: club loyalists supreme and no-one should doubt that IF the Crusaders still rode in the league, the Baseby boys would be in their side. Dan & Rikki are also riders who turned out for the Crusaders: indeed in both cases was their first club. And with these four ALL being Kentish lads we had a very strong bond to the county and the club in this septet. I note that on another site Nikko has said James Clement had also ridden for Sittingbourne - in official competition, I actually don't think so - though I could be wrong. Classic moment tonight was the big fanfare Tim gave as the interval attraction to British Ice Speedway racer Kevin Rowand coming on track on his ice racing machine to try and break the track record... Four laps were negotiated (though clearly not fast enough to challenge any sort of record...) and then it was revealed that - oops - no-one had actually timed it!! Now come on, everyone knows that Chris spends the interval stuffing his face with Mars bars; can't be disturbed from that!!!!
-
I don't know where you get that from - there was no such problem; and those involved in securing what would've been an excellent promotional package and a very competitive team for what was in the end an abortive 2009 campaign, can confirm this was NOT the reason the club pulled the plug on league racing. The Council (Swale) are far more supportive of Speedway at the OGS than the impression that is sometimes given...

Good luck to Team Nikko and the Crusaders... It's beautifully sunny and am setting off in a mo!!!

Thanks to stressed pointing this out have been able to asertain this is the Crusaders' team for what is now later today..: 1 Tony Atkin 2 Matt Bates 3 James Clement 4 Aaron Baseby 5 Mark Baseby 6 Rikki Mullins 7 Dan Berwick Will be interesting to see Master Clement back in action - not seen him for many a year now... Four Crusaders of old in the Baseby boys, their good pal Dan plus Rikki. And some interest too in Tony Atkin who always goes well at the IoW. Very much looking forward to this so I hope we skip the gloom and have a great evening's racing and catching up with old friends...

Mildenhall Fen Tigers V Dudley Heathens

Cheers... I'm getting worse with encouragement!! I believe one of the other two young lads out on track post-meeting was George Barclay's protégé, Josh Fairly (could have surname wrong.. ), so who was the other..? -

Was indeed a superb afternoon's racing! Only just got home but have to admit got back to East London at 8pm, (having left West Row at a fashionably late 7pm..: no speed cameras!!) but been in the pub since!!! One question: four riders went out together for practice after official proceedings (shame NOT in a proper second half race.): they were Dan Berwick, Niall Strudwick, the out of sorts Luke Chessell and AN Other... In Ipswich kevlars - who he..? -
Works like this (from Lakeside website): For the Eastbourne match/double header Adults – £17.50 Senior Citizens, disabled and other concessions – £13 Children 6 to 16 years – £3 Children Under 6 years – Free Unemployed with proof of status – £11 However for Hackney & Stoke fans who enter after Heat 15 of the Elite League meeting, it's just £5 for adults, £4 for concessions and kids for free.

Hence my dig at poor old Mimmo about his poor grasp on East London geography...! The new stadium is more like 200 yards from the old Speedway track... Considerably less than two miles!!!! -

Very sensible words from Mimmo: I 100% agree with you. And you're right to highlight Uncle Len's on centre green interview: very wise words indeed from the great man (no doubt I'll be accused of bum-licking again!!! ). Very good meeting and I'd take this fare over Elite League any (and every...!) day of the week.. Shall certainly be making the Wednesday evening trip to Lynn for NL racing whenever I can this year.. Much better programme this year too... Though the geezer writing the away team notes needs to brush up on his East End geography!! That's as in the "notorious" East End...: As I said to you last night Mike, you only call it "notorious" coz I live there!!!! -

Just back from Lynn - was indeed an excellent meeting. Barrie & Mark's late meeting efforts were awesome - if the meeting had been one lap longer (in fact another bend in heat 15 would've done for the flyin' Master Owen...) the Hawks would've sealed what would've been a deserved draw. Excellent stuff too from Jake Knight and fellow resrrve Tom Stokes for the YSs. As others have said, best wishes to Adam on a quick recovery.
