  1. From what I have been reading from the updates site is that if you are moving the ref will hold the tapes longer leading to riders going through the tapes. The new rule to be applied this year is if you touch the tapes with bike or gear, then you are excluded. Movement does seem to be an issue to be clamped on by the ref's this year. There has been a couple of races that have been classed as unsatisfactory starts even though the tapes have not been touched.
  2. Normal admission prices have gone up from £15 to £16 but double headers have stayed the same at £17. The riding order, from what I remember at the "Meet The Riders" evening would be 1. Worrall 2. Nielsen 3. Allen 4. Auty 5.Garrity 6. Phillips 7. Manzares I expected Auty to be at 3 but think he was starting at 4. This was almost a month ago so things could have changed. One thing that did catch my eye from following on the Updates site was that the Edinburgh riders were quick out the gates, again, at Glasgow.
  3. There are a few others that spring to mind but it is strange how it caught out around 1/2 dozen riders in challenge meetings but none at Peterborough Sunday in the CS meeting. Were the riders trying to prove a point. Riders above a 6 point average now allowed in Championship from Premiership but in rules still not. Should have kept the "at least 2 Brits" in squad or al least 1 in a reserve position to allow riders to progress. There are still riders out of a team place similar to 2017 for having the wrong average to fit yet they allow a list of 260 riders to be circulated from abroad, who start in the Premiership on a 4 or Championship on 5.2. The addition of a time clock on the centre green now seems to be a must to assist referees, start marshals, riders & the paying public.
  4. "BIG" Arthur Browning is, also, well remembered up in Scunthorpe for his exploits for the Saints down at Quibell Park riding on his "sausage" seat.
  5. Exactly what Drew Kemp did last year
  6. 6. Phillips & 7. Manzares Auty & Allen at 3 & 4 because of Auty's away form. Allen would be wasted at 2 going by his last years few meetings for us plus his link up this year with Doyle at Somerset.
  7. Still got plenty of money left over from the Holder loan fee
  8. It's nothing to do with the BSPA. Get off your high horse. It was voted in on a majority vote by all promoters present.
  9. ok, wrong choice in the English Vocabulary Policing Unit. "Blow away the cobwebs" should have been a better phrase to have used. What is your terminology for the use of the word "ironed" as I have not seen anybody else use this word.
  10. Good start by Stevie on his return to Belle Vue. Irons out the cobwebs, though, is what others are saying on the Belle Vue thread. Hope for an improvement in the weather & the rest of the lads might get on track at the EWR for some private spins.
  11. Jordan Tyrer, Saul Bulley, or for experience go for David Speight. There is, also, your mate, Mason Searsby who are all not fixed up yet.
  12. 2 riders (Fricke & Wajtknecht) excluded for dismounting at the starting gates to "garden". Tungate excluded for missing 2 minutes although if he had problems with his bike in heat 3, by the time he gets off his bike in the pits, he will only have had about 2-3 minutes to sort the problem before being out again in heat 5. As the time limit between races has been reduced from 5 to 4 minutes, if there is no track grading, jump on another bike.
  13. I think the rules are posted by the SCB to the BSPA site & any changes are normally in bold.
  14. Yes. There was a secret list of 260ish names circulated to promoters of new foreign riders of which most were assessed at 4 for the Premiership. The conversion factor of 1.3 for the Championship takes him to 5.2.
  15. it is in the SS that D Phillips is only a few matches short of getting an average(he rode 4 for Newcastle) so maybe Danyon is in a similar boat. C Louis will know whether it is a new 4H 4A or rolling from last year.
  16. So most riders in the Championship will not attain new averages until probably early July due to the reduced fixture list
  17. I think it will boil down to home form & how riders adapt to their new homes & finding the best set ups as there are less meetings this year so cannot allow for many slip ups. Also, teams have not had a lot, if any, track time. 1. Ipswich 2. Glasgow 3. Sheffield 4. Scunthorpe 5. Lakeside 6. Edinburgh 7. Peterborough 8. Workington 9. Redcar 10. Newcastle 11. Berwick
  18. That one boils down to riders staying down, hoping to seek an advantage in a re-run after his team mate was in third.
  19. Must not exceed 4 minutes from finish of one heat to start of next including the 2 min time allowance. At starting gate, riders may prepare their gate but must remain astride their bike in the direction of travel. The averages are back to monthly rolling with dates up to & inc 23rd being effective from the 1st of the following month. No tem changes after 12th August effective from 15th August. If riders are sick or carrying non speedway injury receives mandatory 7 day suspension. The 6th & 7th riders (by CMA) may ride at either #6 or #7.
  20. Once a rider has got a helmet & goggles on & is on a bike, can you actually tell who it is? Individual kevlars identify the rider through their own sponsors as well as on the bike covers. I do agree with Star Lady in that a stretch waistcoat type top with club colours, emblem & sponsors would be a better & cheaper option.
  21. I am pleased we have Danny as I was a little dubious due to his ties with "Motive" & agree, no pressure. It was a great night & it seems Garrity is a character & a bit more Concerning the rule changes 1. If they don't touch the tapes, let them go but get the start marshall to do his/her job & get the riders at the tapes correctly. If there is an infringement though, there will still be a gathering at the pits as we wait for the decision of -15m or reserve. For me, the rider is at fault & is excluded with no replacement, rider suffers, team suffers. 3 riders only. 2. If it is a comfortable 5-1 then it should still be awarded but if the result in doubt then apply the new rule. It will be the refs interpretation of the action if a race is stopped. 3. Even with the old rules, it could have been any 2 from 6 riders (top 3 by CMA & top 3 by programmed rides) There was, also, a mention of the reserves could be in any order so not lowest at 7. That could be interesting in changing your no7's around a bit.
  22. Just hours to go before we "meet the riders" at the EWR & hoping the turnout to be decent as we need to show the riders that we will support them. My view of how they could perform on track follows Worrall as our no1 will probably drop 0.5 due to NOT having a track advantage like Edinburgh & Newcastle Nielsen probably at 2 riding with Steve 3 times will keep his average or up it slightly Auty at no3 or 4 should up his average having sorted his demons out &, hopefully, learning how to gate better Allen at 3 or 4 I am hoping for an improvement in his average having the stability of riding at the same tracks as last year Garrity at 5 to get near his form when he rode for Sheffield & up his average to around the 8 point mark Manzares at 6 could get big scores by having more rides but riding with Garrity twice & if the others do their stuff, his extra ride might be off our no7 ??????? at 7 if he can minimize his last places then it shouldn't be too bad but no expectations expected with the other 6 There could be some big wins at home if they all click but good racing & not a lot of "FTG" is expected at the EWR. I notice other tracks are now widening their bends for multi line racing & excitement similar to our home
  23. I have read, elsewhere, that Poland have crept I a couple of friendlies & they take priority for some of the riders that were going to be in the Peter Craven meeting so Poland getting their way again. Just the same as the Premiership having fixed racing nights but taking priority over the Easter weekend, racing on Good Friday & Easter Monday.
